Stayed on a Friday night in July. Check in was a breeze . It was a special occasion and my partner emailed the hotel and let them know . We found a card and a box of chocolates in our room on arrival. A lovely gesture. Room was fabulous.the leisure centre is so good . A nice swim when the mood takes. A really safe easy walk to the centre of kenmare and back only 3 mins and probably the best hotel breakfast the next morning we've ever had. Big shout out to Jocelyn one of the managers who touched base with us at breakfast making sure we were happy and had everything we needed . A lovely lady and very professional. This is our third time staying in the kenmare bay hotel in as many years and it just always delivers a top class stay .

I am aware the hotel is currently being upgraded from a 3 star to a 4 star. We were in a family room which comfortable, with king size and single bed - it was a bit dated and this was evident, beds were comfortable, was very nice to have a shower and a bath as you don't see this in hotels anymore. Lovely views from our room Friendly staff in restaurant, lovely breakfast from a menu if you wanted it which was gorgeous. Kids loved the pool, the locker were a good size, and was loaned 2E for the locker from the swimming pool reception which was a nice touch. The lockers keys were falling apart and could cause injury if not careful. Car Park close to hotel entrance Would definitely stay here again, and was considerably cheaper on irishminibreaks website

We had a lovely time in hotel, reception staff were friendly but charged me wrong price before I noticed and I had to show my email of the correct amount. Room was modern and big, however we were missing a bath stopper and when we rang reception we were told I will leave a note and send one up in morning. There was no sign and disappointingly there was no sign and we couldn’t have a bath during our stay which we were looking to.

Martha scored 4 / 5 on 04/04/2023

Fantastic hotel , very clean and well maintained, staff were lovely and very welcoming, family rooms a little on the small side when travelling with two or more kids but more than manageable, we ordered breakfast to the room each day as it was easier with small kids and it was brilliant , we got so much each day and it was always delivered by a very helpful staff member , would highly recommend a stay and the location is perfect for taking a wander around Kenmare or hitting the scenic drives Kerry had to offer !

My Dad and I had an amazing 3 nights at the Kenmare Bay Hotel and Resort, we stayed in one of the smaller lodges. From the time we arrived, we were looked after by very welcoming staff, shout out to the lovely Eileen for taking such good care of us! Our accommodation was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet and dinner service were excellent. We enjoyed a lovely swim at the leisure centre. The only thing I'll say is we were glad we had the car to travel between Killarney and Kenmare, taking in the stunning views and fitting in plenty of attractions and activity. Would highly recommend and hope to return!

Delighted with our two night stay in Kenmare Bay Hotel & Spa. Great location & very helpful staff. Room was Lovely & airy lots of room with a double & Single bed as well as a table & chairs. Spotless! There were Interconnecting rooms if needed! Bathroom was really lovely too. The breakfast was nice but one small complaint we never got the porridge we ordered. The young, evening staff were exceptionally friendly in restaurant. We loved the evening meal menus great selection of starters & fresh fish each evening. We cannot wait to return again.

we enjoyed our stay social distance was excellent in the dinning room for breakfast and in the bar. was disappointed with your bar staff they wore no masks or shield . we did ask them about it .The answers we got was not very satisfactory one member said he broke his and another said she had one but she left it upstairs after she went to her break. we did not got to the bar ever again after that. we wore our masks all the time when entering the hotel until we were seated as it was visible all over the hotel " WE WEAR OUR MASKS TO PROTECT YOU YOU WEAR YOURS TO PROTECT US .this slogan was not respected by your bar staff . thank you

The hotel was lovely. It was a pleasure to stay in the hotel. The hotel experience did not change due to Covid 19. All restrictions were done very well . It was a pleasure not having to book meals and leisure activities. Staff were very friendly. Guests adhered to social distancing. I would highly recommend the Kenmare Bay hotel.

Mary scored 3 / 5 on 31/07/2020

We stayed here 2 nights everything was good. On our second night we found it a little uncomfortable as regards to covid. There seemed to be a high volume of people especially around the resident bar and the staff were struggling to maintain high covid standards. The food was good and the rooms were clean. They could change their breakfast layout by serving everyone at their table in order to reduce movement as for the times we are now dealing with.

Mairead scored 3 / 5 on 28/07/2020

Lovely hotel, the food was really tasty, room was really clean, staff were very pleasant and friendly would definitely recommend and book again

The Kenmare Bay Hotel is in a superb location within a 5min leisurely walk to town. There is ample free car parking on site. The Hotel represents great value at it's price point. Whilst the hotel itself may be of a lower rating and grade, the management and staff provide a first class professional service at all levels which gives a 5 star experience. Everyone has pride in their work, value and respect for your business. The acid test is would you stay there again? Without hesitation, YES! Loved it.

I think the hotel needs an upgrade in everything. Painting needs to be done and the food wasn't great. We ate in the bar restaurant and the starter was lovely but the main course was only ok. The buffet breakfast in the morning was only ok. A bit disappointed to be honest.

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Food is excellent. The only fault is the beds are on the small side.

Pablo scored 3 / 5 on 16/03/2017

really enjoyed our stay in kenmare bay hotel. Very friendly staff and service was very good. Dinner which was served in the bar at this time of the year was excellent . one criticism however was the red wine which was very good, could have been served in a proper red wine glass, and the heineken was flat. The room was very clean , modern and spacious ,however the bed was not the most comfortable.

Brendan scored 4 / 5 on 28/02/2017

I thought the hotel staff were very pleasant. The dinner we had was excellent and the breakfast was decent too. The one issue I had with the hotel was that we stayed in the old section of the hotel which really requires a refurb. The rooms, although clean and comfortable are very cramped and don't offer alot of protection to noise. Overall we had a good time and will be back, but perhaps this time requesting a room in the new section of the hotel.

Helena scored 5 / 5 on 03/04/2016

my husband and I have just spent a three night break in the hotel, it was lovely and relaxing. We got Dinner B&B for 2 nights here, the food was absolutely amazing. The staff were lovely and always doing their best for you. Anything we asked for we got. Only a short walk from the town. The leisure club is great, good size pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Part of the hotel is old but the renovated rooms are fine. They have newer rooms which looked lovely so depends on how busy they are as to which room you will get. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would purchase as a gift for someone.

Sabrina scored 5 / 5 on 02/11/2015

We have been coming to the Kenmare Bay hotel for years and as always it was a wonderful break. The staff are so nice and it's great to see the same people there year after year. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious!! It's a very family orientated hotel with babysitting, kids club and a large swimming pool. Great for couples who want to relax too. Five stars!!!

Martina scored 1 / 5 on 04/06/2015

Our meal in the restaurant was very disappointing. We asked if we could have chips and salad with our steak and were refused told it came with potatoes only. So we were charged €3.50 for chips. The steaks already had a €5 supplement. The steaks were supposed to be 8oz but they clearly were not. I had mine medium and my husband's was well done. His was larger than mine which anyone cooking steak knows that a well done one shrinks more. The waitress was foreign and did not once ask if everything was ok. Her manner left a lot to be desired. Surely it can't be that hard to provide salad and chips if required. The barman was very obliging despite the fact that there was only another man and ourselves in the bar and he was also covering reception. The room was nice but we mainly went out for dinner for my husband's birthday

Elain scored 2 / 5 on 06/04/2015

This hotel is nice. We did NOT have a great experience there however. We had booked for 2 adults and 2 children under 12. On arrival, our room only had 1 double and 1 single bed. At reception we were asked "do you want us to put a camp bed in, we no family rooms available?" Well, having booked the room 2 months in advance and mentioning it was a special treat for my daughter's confirmation, I was very unhappy. A complimentary bottle of wine was left in the room. We were told that the head of reservations would be in work the following morning and we could possibly be moved,( we were staying 3 nights), but alas we were never moved, never approached about a change and never asked on check out if we were happy with our stay. Every morning we got odd looks at breakfast when 4 people arrived down for a table as they too only had us down as a party of 2.

We had a lovely stay in this hotel on Friday 20th February 2014. The leisure facilities were very good. The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. The dinner on Friday evening was lovely. The breakfast was also great. There was a very good selection of hot and cold buffet to choose from. This is very close to the town center just a short 3 min walk where you will find lots of lovely shops and restaurants.

My husband and I stayed in the Kenmare Bay Hotel recently, this was one of our many times staying in this hotel and have never been dissapointed. We found we got real value for money here. Beautiful meals in your restaurant , pleasant staff, comfortable room and a relaxing swim in your leisure centre. We take at least six breaks a year like this one and the Kenmare Bay Hotel would be one of our favourites Keep up the good work.

Rob scored 4 / 5 on 22/04/2014

had a lovely time and experience in the kenmare bay. the staff where very friendly and informative regarding any questions. the food at breakfast and both from the bar and in the restaurant was beautiful with very generous portions. the water pressure in our bathroom was a little weak but this was our only complaint. we would return to this hotel again in the future.

Traveller scored 4 / 5 on 18/02/2014

Stayed weekend 14th Feb. Brilliant evening meal on Friday. Great helpful staff who could not do enough. Only problem staying in old section of the hotel is that the carpet leading from lobby to the fist floor is shabby and dated and the curtains in our room 511 are stained and the chair aged. There are some doors with pieces missing from them. Overall we enjoyed our stay but for those small issues. Will stay again but will look for a room in the new section.

Michael scored 5 / 5 on 04/02/2014

Just stayed at the Kenmare Bay hotel (not the first time) and we had a lovely time, rooms were very clean, breakfast was perfect, went for a swim and the pool area is well maintained. We had the evening meal and it was delicious with steak and monkfish on the menu. I would recommend this hotel and for getting into the town there is a lane behind the holiday homes that takes you into the town in 3 minutes. Michael. (Cork)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff are very professional and friendly, and the food is excellent. We particularly liked that there was a very good, nutricious vegetarian option every night. I would recommend the new renovated section of the hotel as the rooms in the old section are pretty dark and uncomfortable. Our room was upgraded free of charge when we asked to be moved which was a welcome and kind gesture.

Stayed for one night over the Bank holiday weekend with my husband and two year old. We stayed in a superior room which was lovely - also thought the staff were very friendly and accommodating with any requests. We ate in the restaurant and both had beautiful starters and main courses. Hadn't expected to get such a nice meal for the price we paid . Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Great value for money.

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Only drawback was no heating in the corridors and also heating in rooms was very old fashioned. It had turned itself off when we had got back to our room so was disappointed when returning to a cold room. Otherwise all was good

Tina scored 3 / 5 on 19/02/2013

We enjoyed our stay at the kenmare bay hotel, the staff were friendly and the room (in the new part of the hotel) was lovely with a very nice bathroom with seperate shower and bath. The pool was busy but nice and clean, if going to the gym a few of the treadmills aren't working and in need of repair. We ate in the bay resturant, the staff couldn't of been nicer but the food was lacking a bit. I would stay in the hotel again but i don't think i would eat in the resturant. the location was perfect as we went on a drive towards sneem and the ring of Kerry the next day.

Hi All, Had a very enjoyable stay. The evening meal was absolutely beautiful and staff in the hotel were more than helpful. Again the breakfast in the morning was lovely and plenty of food. I had requested the newer rooms in the hotel but didn't receive one as I was told they were all booked out. This was my second time back to this hotel, so I was a bit disappointed that my request was honoured . I was there this time last year as well as we celebrate my husbands birthday this time of the year. We have gone to the Sneem hotel 3 or 4 times over the years which is quite close to the Kenmare Bay Hotel. We had checked this out but it was booked out . We only booked this break at short notice which was Friday night 8th February as we have children to organise. Also can you confirm if I could book the houses through the lidl breaks. Thanks for your request to have this reviewed.

We have stayed in this hotel several times over the past few years and are always happy with the friendly staff and good food. Our room was very comfortable as well and my husband loves the pool. At these prices and with Kenmare just a few minutes walk away we will continue to come here for our short breaks.

Our room was very dissapointing - it was old, shabby and very cold. We were in the old part of the hotel and would not recemmond it to be honest, the newer rooms seemed nicer to be fair. Breakfast was lovley on both mornings. Overall I would not stay at this hotel again.

always very happy with our stays at kenmare bay, staff, food and facilities great and just a short stroll into kenmare town.however not sure if its because it was a lidle break but we were in the older wing of the hotel which was just a little less fresh in its decor and less roomey, but not a problem really.

Our First night in this hotel was a disaster. The room was outdated to say the least a small portable tv the screen was half the size it should be two fuzzy channels. The chair in the room was faded it was that old.Worst of all the shower didnt work.On inquiry we found out they have updated some of the rooms but we got an old room so did our friends that were with us ,also for the breakfast on Sunday morning we got sour sausages. When we complained ihave to say the first receptionist wasnt a bit nice told us she could only give us a simiral room she would let us know when we arrived back from our travels that day no apology. When we got back there was a lovely girl at reception they had upgraded our room thankfully we also got a small reduction in the rate It did spoil our weekend somewhat.I would suggest the hotel close of those rooms until they are of a better standard and that Lidl make sure people who are booking through them dont get those awful rooms.I have to say Kenmare is a lovely town if i go back again i wont be staying in the Kenmare Bay Hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was very rude and spoke down to us, she checked us in to a small dark room with a old creeky bed, I went back down to tell them I wasn't staying in the room, a different receptionist gave me anoyher room she was very nice, breakfast was horrible and we got steak that wasoff , they did apologise but in this day and age this should not be going on in 3and4 Star hotels, I definitely will not stay here again

The hotel was nice & staff were friendly. The food we got in the bar was excellent, and the breakfast both mornings was lovely & plenty of it. The only thing was the room we got with Lidl breaks was a very basic room, and I did request an upgrade but we were told these were the rooms only available to Lidl breaks. I accepted this as it was understandable with the price we paid, but I did offer to pay more to get the upgrade but was told there were none of the refurbished rooms available. Fair enough, it didnt really affect our stay. But, on Saturday, the 2nd day of our 2 night stay, we went out for the day, and arrived back at the hotel at approx 8.30pm, to find the car park was full, and there was so many cars parked everywhere, on the roadside, any where they could find a s space. I asked at reception what was happening and asked were there spaces reserved for hotel guests. Apparently not, and there was a fashion show on the night, and we were welcome to park further up at the holiday homes section. Other than these small issues, I would certainly recommend Kenmare Bay Hotel, and I would happily return.

Really lovely hotel with a fab leisure centre. We had a great stay here and would definitely return. The hotel is in a lovely location, just a couple of minutes walk from town centre. All the staff are extremely friendly and polite. Lovely bar and restaurant, breakfast was very tasty. Unfortunately we were staying in one of the older rooms and the bathroom could do with an upgrade but it wouldn't put us off returning.

We had a short stay , one night , We were checked in by a friendly lady in reception but the directions to our room were very odd indeed, We we told to go accross the car park and up the path and our room was straight ahead, it felt like we were not part ot the Hotel at all, really felt dreadful, the room was fine, clean but nothing to rave about, Frankly would not recommend this hotel.

Rooms needed updating and a good clean. There was cobwebs in the bathroom over the shower and dust on the toilet roll holder.. Was awoken at 4am by a noisy stag night. It is understandable that stag nights can be disruptive but the hotel should have got a night porter to investigate the noise as it went on for over one hour and was very audible to more than just those staying on our corridor. Staff were friendly but I had already left the hotel when i was called back to pay the balance on the room. In most hotels if there is a deposit paid before arrival the balance is paid at check in, I felt embarrassed being asked to come back inside to settle the bill as there was a crowd of people at the door of the lobby.

Irrelagh scored 5 / 5 on 29/02/2012

This was the best hotel we've been to on these breaks. It had a warm friendly welcoming atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and spacious with a well appointed ensuite and a fine large modern LCD T.V. (not provided by other hotels to date). Towels were changed daily. And best of all the full dinner menu was available to us. Up to now we had a restricted set menu in the hotels on our other breaks. Of course the buffet breakfast was of a very high standard as well. The break was overall of tremendous value from this hotel and is to be recommended to anyone seeking an excellent base for exploring the Iveragh or the Beara Penninsula.

just back from kenmare bay! had a great time! we ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay, great value on valentines night, dinner for 25euros a head, and it was 10/10. we didnt realise we had booked on half term and were worried about kids! no need to worry kids club kept them well occupied! very much our drinks in the bar, with the open fire, and good companions with ash and mac, and especially baby beau, what a charmer! looking forward to our next stay!

Does exactly what it says on the tin!! Fantastic food & friendly staff. Doors banging along the corridor from early in the morning was the only drawback. On the whole though, great value! Will be back.

really enjoyed our stay in the Kenmare Bay Hotel; although it was for only one night, it was sufficient to decide that we would be very happy to stay there for a longer period next time. Our room was lovely, with excellent facilities; bathroom with underfloor heating, very comfy after showering! Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast excellent also. hope to stay there again, as Kenmare such a special area, and did not have much time to explore.

We stayed in Kenmare Bay Hotel on saturday night and the only regreat was our stay wasn"t longer. The staff in all areas of the Hotel were friendly and helpful, the bar food at lunch time was good as was breakfast and dinner,in fact the whole package was excellent value for money. While the bedroom was small and slightly dated it was very clean and comfortable (except for pillows which were a bit hard). The leisure center was a great place to unwind with a swim and a good size jacuzzi sauna and steam room, for the more energetic there is also a good gym.We will definitly return for a longer stay .Lidl breaks are great value and will use them again.

Excellent value for money. We went on the one night break for %u20AC49 which included B&B and dinner. The dinner was a two course meal off the al la carte menu, the food was delicious and the service great. The rooms were lovely, the hotel itself a bit dated but fantastic all the same. Would go back again.

Only booked it on saturday lunchtime to stay saturday night The booking hadn't gone thru to hotel when we got there Receptionist was extremely welcoming and professional and there was no hassle Went to room which had not been cleaned properly i.e. dirty glass on one locker sweet paper on other locker dirty glass on dirty shelf in bathroom and single bed looked like it had been used Again no problem with receptionist and she gave us key to another room instead Used the pool which was good though the jacuzzi was cool !!!!!!! Had breakfast following morning and it was so busy there was very little hot food I had one sausage and one spicy sausage There was nothing else on hot buffet at the time except large mushrooms Very close to Kenmare town where we went for dinner and back to hotel for drinks served by great bar staff I know the review sounds a bit negative but we enjoyed our stay overall

We stayed for two nights in October. Kenmare is a really nice town. We also did some driving in the area around Sneem and Cahirdaniel. It was wonderful. The hotel was great. Excellent location, just a short stroll to town. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, very comfortable and really clean. Great staff and service. We availed of the %u20AC49 B&B plus 2 course meal. It was beautiful. Food and menu really good. Overall this Lidl break was great value for money. Will be booking with them again and telling friends.

The hotel was simply brilliant. The staff were helpful in every way possible and we had our 7 month old with us at the time. Anything that could be done to make us comfortable was no problem. The hotel is only 5 mins from the village. Its clean and comfy and the deal that we had through Lidl was great value. We had dinner each night as well as breakfast and the food was divine. Would definately recommend both the hotel and the Lidl deal

Very nice clean hotel with very helpful staff. Food was excellent and the bar service was great. It was evidently a new hotel geared for tours etc. The hotel bar was small and lacked atmosphere. The room was roomy and well appointed but very warm with the heating off and poorly ventilated. Even with the window fully open the room was quite stuffy at night. The room we were in was at the front of the hotel and we were woken on at least two mornings by the tour buses starting up. As we had to have the window open, this noise was unavoidable. The internet computers supplied in the residents lounge were very slow and very poor value and badly need to be upgraded or serviced. We would stay here again but only if we know we would get a room at the back of the hotel in a quiet spot.

We loved the Kenmare Hotel and especially Kenmare town. The bedroom was very clean but could do with an upgrade. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast. Staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. Glasses in dining room were not very clean and carpet could also be cleaned or replaced. All in all terrific value, lovely staff and excellent food.
