Food delicious and staff very friendly
We stayed in this hotel on 21/02/2024. The staff are very friendly and courteous, rooms were spacious and comfortable, food was really good and service fab. I met a lovely lady called Deirdre on our departure on Thursday could not have been more helpful. Will definitely stay again Anne Co Clare
The food was absolutely delicious, easily the best thing about the hotel. The service does let the breakfast down though. We were asked to book a time but still had to queue outside. We booked for half 9 and got our food about 10:15, they had began cleaning all the continental items away before we ate, even put away the juices before our food arrived and without asking were we done with them. It made me feel uncomfortable and rushed. There is also an awful smell in the bathroom and in the stairway, defo not 4 star
Lovely hotel staff brilliant food great. The only glitch was WiFi. It was very intermittent. It shouldn't be too hard to resolve this. Apart from that enjoyed stay
Just one problem was that the latest you could eat breakfast was 9.30am.
Stayed 1 night with some friends, The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Breakfast was delicious . Highly recommend.
Very impressed with the warm and welcoming check-in with Trish at reception. Beautiful room which was spotless, as was the entire hotel. Lovely meal in the bar and breakfast was superb with wonderful choices from the cold buffet to made to order hot breakfast. Couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
Beautiful place, Rooms big and spacious.. Staff friendly.. Great Food ????
We had a lovely time in the Killeshin Hotel from the lovely welcome from staff when checking in to checking out. The room is really spacious and very clean and modern. Food in the restaurant was very tasty and a great selection for breakfast. The swimming pool was lovely with a jacuzzi and steam room, they even had inflatables organised for family on a Sunday morning in the pool. I would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.
The check in was efficient, we were celebrating our anniversary and congratulated on arrival. Some hotels mark this through a treat in the room but not this hotel. We ate dinner 3 courses in the room and it was fabulous 10 out of 10. Great service too. Room clean and spacious. Breakfast didn't live up to my expectations after dinner. Served strong cold tea, was swapped but not with a smile! Breakfast very average. Overall it was pleasant stay and good value
Rooms lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Only small issue we had was breakfast service slow but they were very busy
Gorgeous Hotel, Room was beautiful it was newly decorated, very modern comfortable and relaxing Friendly and helpful Staff through out the stay. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend this Hotel . Great deal with the Lidl Breaks . Will be returning again .
Enjoyed the facilities, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna. Good breakfast and evening meal.
We love staying in this hotel would definitely recommend the hotel. Sadly on our last stay we where a little disappointed as we had a few small issues with room location with the hot water supply and a couple of staff members where not that helpful. We would still stay again hoping our stay will be better than our last.
The staff very friendly n helpful.
Lovely hotel with very good facilities, staff were friendly and attentive, would highly recommend.
Beautiful hotel, exceptional staff - so kind, friendly and helpful, very comfortable rooms, breakfast well worth getting up for. Highly recommend.
No complaints. Staff friendly n helpful. Pool n jacuzzi so warm. Really enjoyed our 2 nights. Breakfast n Dinner excellent. Hopefully we will book again in the near future.
It was a beautiful hotel. The hotel was very clean, room very big and comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was so easy to get round.
Lovely hotel room big, comfortable and clean. The lobby was fabulous. We eat in the bar the food was lovely. Breakfast great. I would definitely go back again. We didn't have time to try out the pool
Lovely Hotel staff were very nice .The food was amazing. I will return
Enjoyed my stay, room was great, food lovely, my only problem was when having a meal in bar the staff were going around like headless chickens, they all seemed quite young maybe new! I could see lots of other tables getting annoyed, one example was a lday next to us was wait about 20mins for an irish coffee even though her companion reminded staff twice after order, an the plus side there was one young girl that looked to be doing all the running around and the work, the other staff seemed to her for everything. Unfortunately I did not get her name, I would stay again.
Nice hotel with friendly staff spacious room’s great value and nice breakfast
Room perfect. Breakfast very tired with limited choice.
We enjoyed our overnight stay very much. The staff from the moment we arrived till our checking out next morning couldn't be any nicer, so so polite, friendly and helpful. We had dinner in hotel and the portions were very generous and food so taste, delicious. Our room was spotless and good size and had everything stocked, just lovely. It was quiet in evening, maybe a little bit of entertainment or person playing music instrument would be nice. We couldn't fault breakfast, plenty of choice and nice seating area Looking forward to our next stay.would definitely recommend hotel
Comfortable room.
Fabulous hotel, room was perfect size and very clean with everything like toiletries you would expect included. Leisure centre was lovely opening hours were great for the kids. Food and service in bar I could not fault. 30 min walk from the town. Would highly recommend this hotel and will defiantly return.
We are of an age where we like to sit in the lobby & read or enjoy a drink, did not enjoy The Killeshin as found the eating area & lobby were quite cold & draughty. The staff were very courteous & friendly & food was very good. Huge cracks in the wash hand basin in our room which appeared to have been there for some time.
Super friendly staff
Lovely family break, the kids love the pool and the food is tops, it’s our second time to stay their. The only disappointing thing was the pancake maker was not working which the kids where talking about since the last visit…
Very enjoyable stay, with good food and clean spacious bed room. A little investment needed in pool area and bed. Would definitely stay again.
We said would stay again and we did. Very happy with the hotel and the staff. Staff in the leisure centre were excellent. On the night we stayed there was a storm which cut power. But the hotel organised food and sent it to our room. Very happy overall
The hotel was nice. Breakfast was lovely and the staff at breakfast time were good. But the staff in the evening were just not trained. Just hadn't a clue. This I just not good enough for price's we pay now a days.
What a lovely long weekend Staff rooms food absolutely perfect will definitely be back had a great time
Lovely hotel staff and food
Lovely hotel, staff were very friendly. Manager of the bar/restaurant was very helpful and friendly. Pool was very full due to swimming lessons but still ok, later times in the day was a lot quieter. Over all a lovely 2 days.
It’s was worse stay ever, hotel was so busy, swimming pool was full, food was disgusting also we have to wait for ages to get the food and table, never again
Was nice hotel. The food was nice at the hotel. My wife and granddaughter enjoyed the swimming pool.
Hotel was fab. Staff were excellent. Food for both breakfast and dinner was gorgeous, really kid friendly.
No atmosphere, waiting staff quite abrupt, not one smile from any of them over the 2 days we were there. Tables very close together. Receptionist and leisure centre staff were good.
A really nice Hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent top marks to the chief and all the staff concerned. The room was really comfortable and warm. We will be back!
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Nice pool area. Family room good size. Kids fold up bed could do with being replaced. Food service very long
Lovely hotel.food was lovely and comfortable room.friendly staff
ALL GOOD
Short break with my wife and 2 grandchildren. Everyone was pleasant and helpful, staff were so nice to our grandchildren.
Fabulous hotel. With gorgeous food, brilliant facilities which were spotless. Big airy bedrooms with every modern convenience. The staff couldn't do enough for us. We will be back again!!!
Hotel was lovely, rooms were great, had the burger for dinner was not great & service was really slow. Reception & check in really great & fast, would return.
We have stayed in the Killeshin a couple of times now and I couldn’t fault it all the staff are lovely and couldn’t do enough for us.. I must say a special thanks to Kieran in the bar who instantly remembered us and made us so welcome and making time to chat with us… Food is fabulous we ate in the bar both nights and the breakfast was lovely.. We will be back!!!
Nice staff clean rooms swimming pool was excellent
Hotel was very clean and rooms were good, food on first night wasn't great but got better during our 3 night stay ,service was very poor in bar, on 2 occasions we had to get our own cutlery as none on the table when food arrived, staff very inexperienced and seemed to enjoy there own company rather than serve guests. When we gave our room number for breakfast we were just told to find a table and help ourself, typically there no tables available but they were still sending people in,had to ask 3 times for tea and toast.Breakfast was cold when we eventually got a table cleaned. We have stayed in other hotels from this group and found them far superior, hopefully things will improve here. Overall the stay was alright,a bit more guidance from managers to staff is badly needed.
Stayed for 1 night with 3 children.Very friendly staff at reception at check in.The room was spacious and well equipped, but the view was of a pebbled rooftop,so nothing nice to see outside. We used the Leisure Centre twice abd the again the staff were very friendly. The pool has no staff supervision,so some kids were a little wild, which took away from the experience.Breakfast was good and all items available seemed to be good quality produce. However no scrambled available, only fried.I found that a little odd for a 4 star hotel. An enjoyable stay overall.
nice hotel ,very clean ,nice pool but bar food is way overpriced
Beautiful hotel very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful food.
Great stay at the Killeshin hotel . The reception staff are a credit to the hotel very friendly . Good size pool and clean rooms the cleaners were very friendly . The breakfast was really nice very tasty and great selection .The only downfall of our stay was the lunch we had one day the food was overcooked and a tasteless i should have complained but i didnt we just didnt go back to the restaraunt we werw dissapointed because the food reviews we had seen were good maybe the chef just had a bad day . We would definatley return to the Killeshin .
We had a lovely night's stay, the hotel staff, mainly the receptionist looked after us well. Will definitely be returning once the pool is back open.
Excellent & friendly service
We just returned from a 2 night stay at the killeshin Hotel . It was our first time here . Family of 4. Hotel is fabulous. Staff were so nice from start to finish . They couldn't do enough for us. Food was absolutely gorgeous In the cedarbar.and breakfast was amazing both mornings Although the pool was closed for renovations the staff gave us a family pass to the local Lesuire centre (5 mins away) both days. Kids had a great time. Family rooms spotless and loads of room . Again staff asked each morning of we needed more towels etc. I've recommended to my family and friends to come here . As we will definitely be returning soon. There is a bowling centre and arcade about 10 mins away called roll n bowl which is great for kids. Again thank you for a lovely family stay to all the staff at the killeshin Hotel and we are looking forward to returning soon. Kind regards Natalie desmond
I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't use the swimming pool. Other wise our stay was perfect.
We enjoyed our stay in your hotel.our room was very clean.Food was good.Management and staff was very pleasant and helpful.
I was expecting a pool but it was under renovation. Was told that when I arrived. I only went cause my son loves swimming and I like to relax at the pool. The beds were uncomfortable.
Breakfast was great. Room lovely. Could have been a better selection for dinner
Very nice hotel quiet spacious room with big bathroom Tea and coffee, no safe and good big TV We ate in the bar as resteraunt not open on a Thursday night Big portions at dinner and breakfast We had breakfast before 9am but barely any continental left and not topped up and no bread selection However I did enjoy the breakfast All staff were cheerful and helpful I was staying with a friend and had asked for a twin (double and single was in Room)This was not the problem but obviously the single was for a child with no headboard or bedside light which is not ideal for adult Beds very comfortable and fantastic shower Very good location plenty of parking
Lovely staff; great food
Lovely hotel. Bar menu is lovely but I feel the menu in the hotel restaurant should be different. You usually get a fish dish like salmon or hake but the only fish option was fish & chips
Great value hotel. Our family room was very clean.
The first room we checked into the bed on one side was broken/over used however we got transferred to room next door. Lovley hotel and staff but tiles in leisure facility in sauna are falling off the wall.could leas to nasty accident especially in steam room.
Lovely staff.lovely food in a nice relaxing surroundings.
Overall the hotel was clean and friendly. But the services around pool times and breakfast let this hotel majorly. They advertised pool open for 6:30am on saturday when we got ready and went down at 7:30am the lovely cleaner went to find us some help who informed us it would be 8:30am before the pool was open yet in information pack in both rooms we had said 6:30. The staff at breakfast was all about the group chats than the hungry customers who was waiting to get hot breakfast. Or even to be asked if they wanted tea toast or coffee. Over all would not rush back or recommend this hotel to anyone
Very friendly staff at check in and esp.in the bar so helpful I have to say I was disappointed with the pool I had to get put as water was very dirty but the changing area showers etc were spotless
The staff were very nice . But the bedroom was out of date . The breakfast room the floor was not ever hoovering it was very dirt .I was very disappointed with the hotel
Bar food was slightly disappointing, but room and service were lovely.
Lovely clean hotel with excellent staff. Highly recommended.
This hotel is not a 4 star hotel . There was no gluten free options for lunch and very limited options for dinner. We had booked dinner for 8 people for 8 o clock and when we arrived they said the restaurant was booked out and we would have to go to the bar for dinner. Put us near main door and it was very cold there. Food was not good. Definitely would not return to this hotel
Just back from a two night stay in Killeshin. We had a lovely time. Nice big family rooms, although the kids camp bed could have been sturdier. Really friendly and helpful staff throughout, from Deirdre in reception to Roger in the bar. The kids enjoyed the pool. We are in the bar both nights and the food was very good. We will be back!
Really enjoyed our stay with my husband and two kids. Pool was spacious and warm, the room very comfortable (though the pull out bed could have been better), and the breakfast was very good - nice variety and good quality. Extended our stay as we enjoyed it so much. Have recommended to others and will return.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Cutlery was dirty at breakfast. Not in a family room but put into a triple room with a camp bed for one of my children. Beds very uncomfortable. The curtains had holes in them. Staff for the most part very friendly except for one waiter at breakfast who was rather sharp when I asked fir an expresso, who answered bluntly while walking away they did not do that only coffe or tea. Food was very good but dinner on only one night where it states on lidl site dinner on both evenings of your stay. This needs to be corrected as it is misleading.
The staff in this hotel were really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious too. Would recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel, very easy access from motorway. Had nice dining experience in the bar where the staff could not do enough for us.....many thanks. Great swim in the pool and again the staff were so helpful. A great night away and we will be back ....thank you.
Lovely hotel. Spacious rooms. Pool and gym facilities were great. Daniel and Johnathan were exceptionally helpful upon arrival and departure. Also Dave that helped book an additional night provided great assistance
Nice hotel, breakfast & bar food was quite good
Sister 21st surprise party ... excellent service from the getgo .. staff are a joy to meet ... I will be back... thank you
Best 21st birthday surprise by my family who turned up which was an added bonus... and to add the staff were so friendly and addommadating throughout our stay .... thank you
We went as a family for my daughters 21st .must say all the staff where so nice could not fault them in anyway .the manager in the bar was very obliging and was a very good people person looked after everything for us ...Will definitely return again
Despite having plenty of staff and not too busy service was quite slow at dinner time. Also heard a staff member telling a group of 3 he didnt need to see their covid certs. Other then that had no issues with room or breakfast. Food was very nice.
Excellent service
Excellent staff and facilities, nice big bright and spacious room.
We had a lovely stay, great value, food was lovely and service was quick, beds were comfortable we used the pool and leisure facilities which were great, the guy in the reception was really nice and helpful we will definitely be back thanks for everything
Very good hotel for the price. Clean, lovely food. Kids loved it. Staff were lovely. Would definitely return.
From the minute we checked in with Deirdre to the time we checked out with Jonathan all the staff were excellent...professional, very friendly and helpful. All Covid requirements were adhered to, digital temperature check at checkin, Covid certs were checked when entering the restaurant and bar, masks were worn by all guests in public areas. The rooms were spacious and spotless clean. The bed was very comfortable, the room temperature was perfect, temperature controlled radiator and the window could be opened if required. Tea and coffee making facilities together with individually wrapped biscuits and bottled water was also provided. All our meals were delicious, great choice and large portions, Simona, Rodger and all the staff were fantastic. We didn't use the leisure facilities but the children in our group really enjoyed the pool. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable in such difficult times. We will definitely return.
Amazing staff food excellent value for money ????%, in such a difficult time the atmosphere and staff were just brilliant
Really enjoyed our stay . Staff friendly and helpful, room spacious and warm.
The hotel was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and very helpful. They couldn’t do enough for you .
Love this hotel, I have stayed here numerous times. Staff really lovely, good great rooms modern and comfort. Cannot fault this hotel.
As my wife had a serious accident months ago it was great to finally get away for a break to the Killeshin Hotel .This hotel ticks all the boxes and were very facilitating with the room for my wife ,the staff were very professional and courteous and looked after our every whim. The Hotel itself is exceptionally clean and modern. If the Covid situation dose not get worse will look forward to a return visit
Staff lovely very attentive, food was so tasty. There mattresses could do with a face lift but otherwise fab place. The Girls at the leisure club Michelle and Sam were so accommodating and friendly. So nice to the kids who spent so much time in the pool.
Excellent hotel in all respects. Lovely helpful staff. Good food and clean comfortable bedrooms.
From check in to check out could not fault this hotel. Bar food and breakfast was fabulous. Staff couldn't do enough for us.
Great hotel, lovely rooms, lovely friendly staff and food in bar was really nice. So good going back again in a few weeks. Highly recommend the Killeshin Hotel.
The room was cold heater not working report it.got a heater.bar and reception not comfortable very cold all the time
Lovely stay. Comfortable and clean. Great staff. Food great but be careful with allergies.
Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous food ????
I stayed here with my fiancée for our 4th anniversary on the 25th of October! There was a few incidents that made my stay not enjoyable for example a pane of glass fell onto my foot in my room but the staff were so nice about it and removed it from our room and kept asking was I okay! But overall I have never found nicer staff in a hotel even for our meal they were creating chat with us which to me made it more enjoyable because it showed they cared! A big well done and thank you to the staff! You guys were amazing!
We found the hotel very convenient and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was lovely really enjoy our stay there
Fantastic stay with lovely staff. Food was amazing.. we will be back soon
Myself and my husband visited this hotel for one night, the room was very spacious with extra chairs, tea/coffee, lots of toiletries, the food was delicious and very generous portions, the pool was lovely with a relaxed atmosphere and the front staff and all staff were very helpful, pleasant and professional. We will be back. Thank you.
Staff very friendly but found everything very basic.food lovely in restaurant but if don't eat chips you're in trouble. Breakfast lovely.
Fabulous hotel with super staff. Facilities are great. The food was delicious and the staa were wonderful. Would highly recommend the killeshin hotel
Really impressed. Lovely hotel in portloise town. Staff are so friendly but genuinely so, you know they find it easy to be friendly and welcoming. The food was fab, the breakfast was just gorgeous Rooms were lovely and seemed newly decorated, lovely power shower. Will def go back.
Fantastic Hotel, we are getting married in this hotel as well Food is delicious Room is fantastic Staff is really great Overall we had a great time ???? My parents are going to stay in the hotel tomorrow and Thursday
Myself and my husband stayed here for 3 nights and had a really relaxed staycation here. The staff were very nice and polite and the food was gorgeous. Would defo stay here again
Great pool and well organised during Covid. Food and service in the bar and restaurant is great. And the staff are all so friendly. My son lost a souvenir in the Hotel and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to find it for him. We will definitely visit again.
Everything was perfect in hotel. Leisure centre needs to be updated and was a little dirty.
Excellent hotel really well run in these covid times, spotless clean. Stayed 2 nights dinner included 1 night. Beautiful food huge portions. Staff were fabulous in all areas. Bar was lovely and relaxing. Used the pool and gym again really clean in all areas. Bedroom was huge and beds really comfy will definitely be back
The hotel restaurant food was really tasty. The hotel could do with a bit of a upgrade, also the room was very warm. The kids enjoyed the pool.
Food was beautiful, friendly staff, very good swimming pool
Hotel very clean everyone lovely very helpful food great very good experience first time away in covid
yes hotel is very nice room and staff were lovely a great price with 123 breaks well worth the visit
Great food in the bar, we enjoyed lunch and dinner in the hotel both days. The room was gorgeous, we upgraded to a suite for a little luxury!! We were a little disappointed that Netflix wasn't working on our TV but overall had a wonderful stay. The staff were all fantastic - from reception to the bar, accommodation and leisure centre - they were all so friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!
Excellent hotel with top-notch food in bar and dining room. Hotel rooms were extremely comfortable especially the executive rooms. Very good covid precautions all over the hotel. The staff were wonderful. Will definitely be back.
Nice hotel an food fantastic
Food fabulous rooms very clean and comfortable and lovely welcoming staff
The room wasn’t very presentable. The chairs had white stains on them and the furniture such as the desk has chips taken out of it all around it. The shower was clogged so there was a pool of water in the shower after you showered. The carpet was very dirty.
Excellent service and food really good. A few areas in the corridors could do with a touch up but overall great hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpful. The food in restraunt was great portions were big, a good choice at breakfast too.
Fabulous hotel & lovely staff.
Easy of booking. Check in effortless. All staff in hotel very professional. Food was very good. Enjoyed a steak dinner in the restaurant on sat night. Prebooked the leisure centre. Felt very safe in this covid time. And had a great night's sleep. Well done killeshin hotel.
Staff food and room amazing only downside no disabled parking near main entrance
I was shocked at the lack of hand sanitizer around the hotel. There was none at the lifts even though it said please use it. Empty bottles at the restaurant as well.
Lovely staff Very clean Food excellent and portions good
Stayed here for one night with our 2 children (12 and 10). Hotel was lovely, very clean, staff friendly, food gorgeous and very generous portions. However, the was a group of younger guests (possibly 18-20 years) staying in various rooms around the hotel. They partied, made unbelievable noise, all night. Despite numerous complaints from ourselves and a lot of other guests this went on all night resulting in us getting only about 2-3 hours sleep. I feel something more should have been done to stop the behaviour of the disruptive guests. It's not very nice paying to stay in a hotel for the night and not actually getting sleep. It defeats the purpose of going for a relaxing night away. There was an awful lot of very irate guests the following morning. This completely ruined our weekend, we had to go straight to bed for a few hours when we got home to try to get some sleep. Won't be back i'm afraid.
I feel like this hotel is more geared towards business travellers. While everything was fine there were some basic things with the furniture that weren't great ie single bed one castor short which meant when you sat on it, it tipped sideways, the chair in the room was very unsteady. There wasn't great selection on these TV considering we're not supposed to mingle in the lobby bar area. If I was travelling to a conference I'd stay here.
Lovely hotel very friendly staff, we definitely felt we got value for our Money
Our family stayed for two nights at this wonderful hotel with its quality facilities. The staff were most helpful and made our stay extremely pleasant and relaxing. The breakfast was very generous and staff were very caring and worked hard to ensure high standards. The hotel is ideally located close to Portlaoise, which has excellent shops and services. We will definitely return to the Killeshin hotel and would recommend it with hesitation.
Lovely hotel and great staff, delicious breakfast, clean rooms, highly recommend
From start to finish this was one of the best hotel stays we've ever had, the staff were fantastically attentive & couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is very clean & in a great location. Definitely 5 stars from us.
Nice clean hotel with good food and good leisure centre
great stay at the Killeshin. Lovely staff too.
Beautiful hotel friendly staff lovely food spotless clean rooms top class
Staff lovely. Room ok but carpet dirty and no throw on bed. Stain s down side of mattress base, bare base on view. Breakfast on morning one was quite cold morning two was fine. Short bar menu from 9pm which was fine as we ate before that and menu was extensive, but no warning that short menu was from 7 on Saturday i.e fish and chips, burger or one pasta dish. Restaurant was fully booked so we had to eat elsewhere. Not a 4* experience by any stretch of the imagination. Martina, Wexford.
Lovely hotel great staff had a great weekend
Not the best hotel to stay in to be honest,on checking in reception asked us would we be having dinner with them, our answer was yes, they then said you can be served in the restaurant up till 9 pm or the bar till 1030 ,so we viewed the bar menu full of delightful food and announced we would eat in the bar, great or so we thought on till we arrived in the bar at 8pm to be told we were to late for bar food stopped at 7pm they had a skeletal menu on instead with just a burger or one pasta dish for mains, when we enquired with the maneger he told me why was I coming down so late and expect steak ( God forbid) I mean it's past 8 and if you read the fine print some were on the web site it should say that, well I said to my wife it's my fault we,re just to late for food in this hotel in the bar, I mean couple mid forty,s hotel room ,romantic dinner you get the picture . The manager was abrupt and delighted in telling us off ,so we ate the burger absolute sh...te coupled with deep fat fryer chips, sickening . Look hotel people Irish couples will go out and eat after 8 pm ,do expect the menu shown to us to be available, if your reading this review go stay in the abbeyleiks hotel just down the road from killsashin stayed there 2 weeks ago absolute bliss and great food and it's also on lidl website ps there website says wifi ,they don't have it at all in the rooms must have being in the fine print
Rooms were clean. Water was not running in ladies toilet in main reception. Breakfast was poorly laid out and every one was grappling for food! Staff were very friendly and helpful
lovely hotel few little touch ups needed here and there but nothing that would put me off going again. staff were lovely, food gorgeous would love to know how they do their potatoes they were the best i have ever tasted. great value with internet in rooms a bonus
The Killeshin is a very comfortable hotel, with excellent staff. The food is very good, in both the bar and the restaurant. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to friends, family and colleagues.
The hotel was great. I was shocked there was no safe in the room. I would see that as a basic facility provided by all hotels up and down the country. The food was excellent, bar staff were very attentive but the table/floor staff took too long to clear dirty tables. The pool should be open later on weekends. Otherwise we had a super weekend
My husband, daughter, future son in law and myself had a great weekend in the Killeshin! All the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful! Special mention for the bar staff, receptionists and the dining room staff. Breakfast on the 2 mornings was excellent and there was no problem when we asked for boiled eggs or scrambled eggs instead of the fried option. We dined at the hotel on the 2nd night and were very pleased with the choices and the quality of the food served. The bar food was also delicious. Our rooms were spotless, very roomy and comfortable. We all enjoyed 2 great nights' sleep. All that was missing were a couple of benches or chairs outside so that we could enjoy the sunny weather during our stay. Hopefully we'll be back again soon to enjoy all the shops in the town. My daughter and her partner walked the 10/15 minutes to the town and returned 4 hours later laden with their purchases. There was no live music in the hotel while we were there but there were plenty of bars offering music in the town. The friendly receptionist suggested we try O'Gormans which is situated a short distance up the road to the left of the hotel and we recommend it also.
had a great 3 night break at the killeshin hotel easter weekend.we were greeted by a very friendly receptionest and she was so welcoming.had a fantastic meal in restaurant on friday night.compliments to the chef.had drinks in the bar on sat and sun and the bar staff were very friendly .there,s a lovely swimming pool in the hotel and plenty of seating in the reception area to read the paper,s and relax.we will definitely be back.certainly a four star hotel. william from dubllin.
The Killeshin Hotel is a lovely venue to have a break in, we were greeted at reception by friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very spacious, spotless and have all mod cons. I loved the warmth of the room. The restaurant is of 5 star quality, the food was excellent at dinner and breakfast had a great selection of foods. The service was professional, fast and efficient the restaurant manager was excellent. Reception area was a little chilly for sitting in but one of the best hotels i have stayed in with a while.
great location just off the M7 Motorway and easy access to Dublin and midlands. Very friendly staff, Excellent food both in the bar and restaurant. Would highly recommend this hotel either for a family or a couple.
Stayed here with 4 friends for a girly weekend. Had a great time. The food was amazing and we were pleasantly surprised with the choices as we assumed the worst with the price we paid. Will definitely be back.
We stay here a few times a year and always find the staff very friendly and helpful. We would not be returning if we were not satisfied with the hotel. The receptionist Yvonne is always very efficient and helpful and pleasant. We will be staying there in 2014.
Another faultless stay with The Killeshin. Clean bedrooms and lobby area. Food in restaurant tasty and huge variety. Easily accessible from motorway and within nearby walking distance of town centre
Girls weekend had such a laugh. From arrival to departure we had a fabulous time. Staff were wonderful from Reception, Restaurant, Gym, Bar all very helpful pleasant and fun. You wont get a better break deal than a Lidl break
I booked a night in November in the Killeshin hotel, Portlaoise. The room was lovely and comfortable. We could turn on and off the heating. We could open the window for fresh air. The bar staff were very helpful and friendly. The reception staff on arrival were business like but not friendly however the staff on the following morning were really nice and chatty and gave us clear directions to the outlet centre in Kildare where we did most of our Christmas shopping. We were impressed with the quality of the food it was delicious. I will return again. Thank you all for making our night away so enjoyable. Nothing like getting away for a night and chilling out.
I found my stay in The Killeshin Hotel to be everything and more than I expected. From before we arrived, the attention we received was second to none. I wanted to upgrade my mother's room and order a cake as the reason for our stay was to celebrate my mother's 60th. Leona on reception organised everything professionally and with ease for us. She booked our meal time and all we had to do on arrival was to sit back and enjoy. The facilities are very good and the food was fabulous. Special thanks to the chef for the amazing cake!! Again the staff were attentive and friendly and it was this that puts The Killeshin a cut above the rest. All requests were met with a smile and a can-do attitude. I look forward to my next stay and I would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for such a relaxing and enjoyable break.
Room standard excellent and very clean. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Pool facilities very good. We were disappointed to discover that restaurant was closed and we were eating in bar area (Thursday night). What I felt let the hotel down was the standard and choice of the food for evening meal. We sent soup back because it was tepid. Also as one of our group was coeliac we had requested before hand via email, note with booking AND phoned in advance to confirm that GF cereal was required for breakfast. We were assured it would be but it was not. We would have brought our own otherwise. One other small thing was that breakfast plates were cold so food went cold quickly. So food aspects were a disappointment which is a pity because everything else was great.
Excellent Deal and would stay in the Killeshin hotel again... 5 Star*****
I booked the Killeshin Hotel for one night with my wife with the Lidl deal. It's around 50min drive from Dublin and about 20 minute walk outside the Town centre of Portlaoise. It is a large spacious hotel with a modern facade and nice decor inside. The receptionists were polite and friendly. We were given a room on the second floor with a window facing out to the front. The room looked newly refurbished and very clean and spacious. We booked into the restaurant later that evening and I paid €5 supplement on ordering the Steak, which was worth it as the food was excellent. The following morning was sunday and breakfast finished at 10.30.I felt that was a little early and to make matters worse I forgot to put my clock back, so that was even earlier but I needed food to sort out a hangover. The Breakfast counter had a good selection from cereals, fruit etc to the hot counter of everything you need for a full fry. After my belly was full and seeing as I was up, I went for a swim and sauna. I would recommend this Hotel and would would probably used the lidl deal again in the future to go back.
Excellent hotel great staff excellent food
Hotel is really nice, rooms are fabulous and spacious. Staff very friendly. The meal that came with the Dinner B&B deal was really good, way above my expectations. Would highly recommend
We had a wonderful stay at the Kilashin. The staff are very friendly and the food was excellent, would definitely stay again.
Great Hotel, very clean & family friendly would stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The bar food was good. The breakfast was also delicious. The pool was great and the kids had a ball. The sauna and jacuzzi were also great. The staff were also friendly. Incidently I was informed by the receptionist that someones car did not start,he left lights on. I just happened to be paying at the time. They had no jump leads and were ringing around to find a set. However I had a set and started a stranded Dub.My pleasure. So maybe the hotel should have a set for emergencies.
lovely stay at KILLESHIN huge family room, much appreciated.food and service excellent.
Nice hotel, bit noisy for us
The Killeshin hotel was excellent for our weekend break ! The staff were friendly and provided us with a lovely quiet room for me, my wife and young son. The evening meal which was part of our package was extremely good and served in generous Irish portions. We spent a happy two days visiting the lovely gardens of Emo Court (10 minutes drive way), browsing the shops and pubs of the town centre and using the hotel's swimming pool and other leisure centre facilities. In short, we will be back ! (We also wish to visit The Rock of Dunamase which is also close by.)
Everything up to the usual high standard. Will continue to stay there on our trip to the Midlands.
great hotel brilliant staff, five stars
A freshly decorated modern hotel in good location and with easy access. A very warm welcome is extended on arrival and this high standard of staff professionalism existed throughout all categories of staff we encountered. Bar was spacious and characterful and food served here was of good quality. Rooms and facilities clean and comfortable.
Stayed in a family room which was fine once children are small, as one child has to sleep in a camp bed, not really a hotel for children but they did there best to accommodate us. The leisure facilities are excellent kids loved the pool, also the food was amazing. I wouldn't have any complaints over all
dinner was only 2 course witch i did not expect. out side the hotel front door where the seats are was dirty with fag buts on the ground and the tables were not clened all day the same dirty glasses and bottels were left there all night.otherwise it was good
couldnt fault anything about hotel.just stayed one night bed and breakfast and evening meal.food was only beautiful and the breakfast was super and so fresh. loads of everything even near finishing time.staff were lovely, especially staff in dining room. they were so attentive but not overpowering.rooms were nice. only one small little thing, no shower caps. that didnt bother me but it might bother some people.would defnitely stay again.
This hotel is truely special. From the moment we arrived we were made feel like VIPs.Check in was smooth and efficient with a friendly welcome. Our room was very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities plus hot chocolate for the chldren.Good toiletries were provided in the roomy bathroom. Dinner was exceptional.Great choice of evening meal and the food was delicious. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful. We had a really nice bottle of wine from a well prced wine list.As a family we had a brilliant time with exceptional service and food. It is rare that a hotel totally excceds all expectations but this one did.Plus excellent value for money.I Would highly recommend this to anyone and hope to return for another fabulous break
We (family of 4) just stayed at the hotel May Bank Holiday weekend and have to say it was absolutely great, everything, Staff- so friendly and helpful, Food - excellent, swimming pool, sauna, steam room - great service, very clean, water warm. Would defo come back and reccomended. We were very very plaese, great value too. Sarka, John & Kids
Stayed here on a sat night. The music and DJ were going full blast till 12.30 making it very difficult to sleep. Food was ok only , while the leisure facilities were nice.
Good quality hotel. Rooms are pleasant. Nice leisure facilities, speciallly sauna. Pool a bit small especially if there are children about. Extended opening hours of leisure centre would be nice - doesn't open until 9am on Sundays and last entry at 6pm.
Had a lovely one night stay at the Killeshin Hotel. Rooms are modern, bright and clean and staff are friendly and in particular the restaurant staff were superb. Dinner was part of our package and proved to be of an excellent standard and breakfast the next morning was delicious. All you could ask of a 4 star hotel. Didn't get a chance to check out the leisure facilities but I'll be back so maybe next time! A fantastic price for a great night away.
Room decor in need of attention. Staff very friendly. Not sure if it deserves 4 star standard. Dining room not open bar food average.
Very nice hotel, great deal food tasty menu was limited but that was due to the type of deal I opted for. Rooms spacious and very clean
Absolutely fantastic stay in the Killeshin... our second visit and we were not disappointed. Everything was 5 Star, from the Staff, Bar, Restaurant and House Keeping. It was my friend's birthday and there were 8 of us celebrating in style. When we arrived for our dinner there was a bottle of Prosesco waiting for us, followed by a lovely birthday dessert for the birthday girl. Special thanks to Antonio, Caitriona, Yolanda & Christina for making our stay so very special. We will be back that's for sure. Kind Regards and Thanks, Catherine Ryan and Friends.
hotel not up to my expectations of a 4 star hotel staff very nice very helpful found a pair of used socks in the wardrobe (not mine) seats in the dining area were torn had to go down to recption to get a pen as there were no writing facilities in the room which for any star hotel should be standard
Stead here the weekend. Had great time lovely hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Room really big we stay in family room.kids had great time in swimming pool. Rooms were really clean. The kids want breakfast in bed and have to say the food was good. All and all would recomend this hotel. We will be back again.
We had a fab time I would highly recommend this hotel it was great
Lovely hotel, clean, spacious room and food was excellent with friendly staff
Lovely hotel, rooms fabulous, we nad a fab stay oh and the food was fab too,
The Killeshin Hotel is a fantastic place to stay, food great, staff friendly, facilities excellent. Overall, great value for money and would certainly use Lidl Breaks again.
We use this hotel on a regular basis and can recommend it. The staff are very pleasant. We will be using this hotel again.
Lovely rooms, clean hotel, will stay again
just stayed at the Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise for one night B/B and two course evening dinner. The stay was excellent, rooms are super and food is excellent. Have stayed there many a time and truthfully have never had a bad stay or a bad meal. Only good things to say and the choice is very varied. I would definitely recommend for a stay and for meals. If I have to say a negative, the bar was full and could have done with some music, maybe a guy in the corner playing a guitar or piano or something, would have really made the hours in the bar very interesting. Will definitely stay again, and again and again.
We had a wonderful stay at the Killeshin Hotel. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly . Needs sheltered smoking area as my sister is a smoker and had to stand ourside in the cold. Manager very helpful and reassured us that they would have a smoking area very soon.
I stayed at the Killeshin Hotel in October for one night on the Lidl Break deal. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard and were very comfotable and clean. The food was fabulous at breakfast and at dinner and although the dinner menu for the Lidl deal is limited the staff were very accommodating with slight ammendments to the order. I found the pool and sauna facilities very nice but the jaquzzi was not working. Overall I would rate this hotel at 9 out of 10, The strenghts of this hotel are it's very nice renovations and helpfulness and service provided by all the staff. I would definately reccommend this hotel and would return if in that part of the Country again.
Had a v nice stay with four other ladies. Food v good. Room nice but no shower cap in rooms. Would recommend
We had a really enjoyable weekend break in the Killeshin Hotel recently. Less than an hour from Dublin it was great to unwind in the pool, sauna and steamroom. The rooms were first class and the staff friendly and efficient. I have to say the food was superb, in particular the Lamb shank, melt in the mouth. Restaurant staff very pleasent and attentive, especially Marck. Wonderful buffet breakfast, great choice of both hot and cold food and plenty of it. Would definitely stay here again, ticks all the boxes. Clár Uà Mhurchú.
Pros. Food in bar and restaurant was very good and staff exceptional. Room was a good size with a big double bed. Newspaper delivered as requested in the morning. Cons. TV was in the far corner of the room; remote control was faulty so a relaxing evening flicking between the channels was impossible. No welcome package in the rooms, would be handy to have leisure center opening times, local amenities, mass times etc listed. Swimming pool could do with a lick of paint, patches on the walls had pealed away.
We booked a family room which was spacious. Staff were very helpful both on reception and in the restaurant. Dinner in the restaurant was nice and good value. There were six choices of starter and mains. We went mainly to use the pool with our two young children and we found it quite cold. We would definately return on a regular basis if the pool was warmer.
reception and restaurant staff were very friendly. cleanliness of hotel was a disgrace whoever manages it should be fired!!!! kettle in room had scum on inside a few inches deep, breakfast waS DISGUSTING, fruit was rotten brown bread stale, the food that was served up in restaurant was also a disgrace!!!!!!! would tell people to stay away from that hotel. photos on website VERY deceiving STATE of the smoking area, broken tables no heaters the list goes on .......................
We had an excellent time at Killeshin Hotel, rooms beautiful, food fantastic and staff very friendly and helpful, would highly recommend.
Staff were very friendly and nice (until we complained on Sunday morning - then we met a battle axe). I specifically asked for a quiet room, as my wife is a very light sleeper. Mentioned it again to the receptionist and told there was a function on so they put us at the front. We got a room on the 1st floor facing a very busy main road. Cause of the bypass we thought it would abait by evening time. Due to window design (windows had permavents that dont fully close) there was noise all night. We were on the same floor as a noisy hen party, and also people who were at the party - as they made a lot of noise when they went to bed. We were a little dissapointed with the dinner options, only 3 main courses to select from in comparison to the list available on line with them, but food was very good.
stayed for 2 nights, and have to say,the room was exellent, very clean, very specious and all round great value for money,if there was a downside to my stay it would be..that there was no entertainment on either of the nights we were there...very little thought for the guests ..as the town center was a good distance away....
This is a lovely hotel, the staff are so friendly and helpful, our room was very spacious and had everything one would require,we had dinner in the restaurant and it was lovely, the service was the best i have had in a long time,we would definately return again.
Nice hotel with friendly staff and good facilities. Ideally placed with access to Portlaoise's shopping centers. Great car parking.
had a great time nights stayed 4 all staff really nice hotel very clean food delicious room spacious and comfortable pool most enjoyable will be back again
Killeshin Hotel break was really enjoyable. The room was lovely and the food was fantastic. The hotel is nicely located just outside the main shopping area. We had a lovely walk into the town. The staff were very helpful , polite and friendly. The pool area was really well cared for the water was at a nice warm temperature with Jacuzzi , steam room and sauna close by which was equally well maintained.
Ok for short stay, good location if you have business in Portlaoise
Rooms where nice, basic and clean reception staff lovely and helpful bar staff slow and bit cranky food was lovely but tables where slow to be cleared after pool was ok changing rooms werent the cleanest nice location
Muself and my husband are just back from another perfect stay at the Killshin Hotel and have already booked our next trip. Everything from the welcome by reception leaves you feeling that nothing is any trouble and it isnt. We were on the dinner B&B offer and stayed for 2 nights 4th & 5th of August. Food was lovely as ever. Pool area is lovely, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Special menu in Bar on Sunday for lunch was a bit of a pain when you just want a sandwich... Other than that our room was lovely everything you need and only 50mins from Dublin.
Stayed at the Killeshin for one night, really enjoyed it. The rooom was a good size, taught the bed could be a little bigger though. Staff very friendly, and the food was lovely. Pool was lovely and warm, would recommend this hotel.
Stayed with our six year old for one night. A nice hotel with good sized room, very clean and comfortable. Food good, both at breakfast and dinner. Pool a good size and nice and warm-our son really enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. We would stay there again and I would recommend it.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Killeshin Hotel. From the moment we arrived at reception the staff were the friendlist and most helpful. We have been in many hotels here and abroad but all the staff in Killeshin Hotel you could not meet nicer. We have to mention one or two staff, Caitriona was so nice and kind to us. Also Metric he seemed to work 24hrs and was always smiling and courteous to everyone. We will definitely return to Killeshin Hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Killeshin Hotel, although it was only for one night it was most enjoyable. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. The food was excellent and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends and will definitely stay here again when we are visiting Portlaoise in the future.
Staff are extremely friendly. Hotel was very clean. The rooms were also very clean. The bed was very comfortable. They serve a great pint of Guinness and the food was excellent
Excellent stay at the Killehan on Sunday 10th June. No complaints........food, room and bar all very good. Would recommend the Killeshin for a very good low cost break away.
We stayed in the Killeshin 3rd&4th June-great parking,on arrival, all staff were friendly and courteous-Swimming Pool was very quiet and enjoyable- swimming area, showers etc were quite adaquate.Dinner on both nights was fantastic value on our Lidl break-Breakfast on both mornings was good-only tip i would give is to get to reataurant at least 30 mins before breakfast finish as people are inclined to leave it until the last minute,i would certainly stay in the Killeshin again Emannuel( Kerry)-star rating-9.5
Staff, food, service, bar and room were great. Would definately recommend the hotel. The only problem was the cleanliness of the ladies changing room in swimming pool area. It was disgusting: hairs and dirt all over the floor. We did report it to the duty manager and in fairness to her, she said that she would follow it up straight away. A satisfactory result to a complaint! I would go again to The Killeshin Hotel.
Had an excellent time here. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
I stay at this hotel any time I am in Portlaoise or in the area. Its an excellent hotel and I must comment on the food, its fabulous. I have actualy never ever had anything to eat there that I could say was not excellent. They seem to take pride in their lunchs/dinners/snacks. The bar is very well run, the rooms are clean and spacious. Staff are excellent also, helpful and efficient. I must say, and I have travelled a lot, I have never had a problem with the Killeshin and from the way it is run I feel that if a problem did occur it would be dealt with efficiently and professionally.
beautiful hotel and lovely food..
Had a really lovely Saturday night stay in this hotel. Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, room was spacious and clean. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Great hotel, rooms very well kept and spacious, beds very comfortable. Leisure centre was lovely also. Food was great both in the restaurant and the room service for breakfast. Some times when you order breakfast to the room it's only luke warm, this was piping hot. Only bad thing to say was our room wasn't ready until 3pm and we arrived shortly after 2pm. We would go back again and would recommend this hotel to friends.
We stayed at the Killeshin Hotel for one night. The hotel is very nice and clean. We had a very good meal in the restaurant and the staff were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay unfortunately there was no entertainment of any kind on the saturday which we thought would be on account of the Bank Holiday Weekend. However we did enjoy our stay and very good value.
We had a very present stay at the hotel. The reception area was very presentable; the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The room was spacious with everything you would expect in a modern hotel. The bathroom was new and extremely clean. The bedroom itself could have been a little cleaner as there was dust and handprints on the headboard, however this did not take from the overall experience. There was a great selection for breakfast and the quality of the breakfast food served was excellent. The swimming pool was also an added bonus. We would have liked to eat in the bar on arrival, however it was small and there were no free tables because there was a match on the TV. Other than that we had an extremely pleasant stay and I would have no problem recommending this hotel.
Stayed in this hotel for a Friday night stay. Beautiful hotel, food was delicious and the service was superb. The only fault I had was hotel room very hot even with window open and heating turned down.
Very satisfactory stay in the Killeshin. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant exceeded our expectations-Delicious. Only comment was that the hotel seemed characterless (Celtic Tiger build). Other than that very pleasant and would have no hesitation in recommending!
Had a very enjoyable stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Would visit again
Eexcellent hotel really enjoyed my stay at the Killeshin Hotel and food was fab, staff very nice and helpful will be back here again.
Great hotel for a family stay. Staff, room, pool & food were all excellent. Will definitely be back!
We stayed in the Family Room at the Killeshin on Monday last,we received a very warm welcome, with little Easter Bunny's for the children. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar, good choice for the children and adults also. The room was clean & comfortable as was the swimming pool. My only gripe was paying €3.50 for 2 scoops of icecream for the kids & service was a tad slow on the evening although they did seem to be doing a good trade which may explain it.A very pleasant hotel for an enjoyable stay
We would give Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise a 5 Star Rating, from the time we checked in to our departure. In particular the Staff were second to none... So professional, friendly and helpful. Not alone will we be returning, but we will recommend Killeshin to all our family and friends. Catherine Ryan...
Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend, had a lovely stay. Staff were all very helpfull. Rooms gorgeous and not far from the town. 7 euro in a taxi each way. Meal also fantastic. Pool and jucuzzi also lovely.
Just back from a lidl break at the Killeshin, ive done a few of the 4 star hotels now and this is my favourite. Just an hour from Dublin, has a pool jacquizzi steam room etc. Spacious rooms, good food, nice bar and the staff are the friendliest ive come across. Highly recommend it!
Great staff in a nice hotel. One of them even stung me on an April Fools gag, not funny for me at the time (hilarious for the rest of my family) but it will give you an idea of how sound they are. Nice steam room too right beside the pool. If you're staying in Portlaoise stay here.
We stay at this hotel a few times each year and are always very satisfied. The room is excellent and the staff very pleasant and helpful. We can certainly recommend this hotel.
We had a wonderful stay at the Killeshin over the bank holiday weekend. The rooms were lovely and spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids. Food was wonderful and staff were delightful. Well done, we'll be back.
We'd a great stay at the Killeshin Hotel. Lovely hotel and perfect for a weekend break. Nice pool, leisure facilities and food. We got to spend a lovely day then at the nearby Emo Court. A really easy break with a little baby for anyone travelling from Dublin.
Myself and my husband stayed here in March with a 3.5 and 2 year old, great hotel lovely spacious clean room. Breakfast was very good and we also had room service that was very quick and was good quality. The pool was great for the kids and the nearby park in Portloaise excellent. We found all the staff to be both friendly and courteous. Very good value Lidle break. Would recommend it and would have no problems going back in the future as we were very happy with it. Ann (Cork)
We decided late on Friday night to check the LIDl breaks for availability on Saturday night. We availed of a 1 night BB&D deal in the Killeshin hotel. It was all very enjoyable. The hotel is lovely, food was excellent even on a budget menu. We didnt avail of the leisure centre facilities. All staff were very effecient and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and the LIDL breaks to all!
We stayed at the Killeshin hotel for 2 days & had a really enjoyable stay. Hotel was lovely & the staff were very friendly & professional. The food was also fabulous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
we just stayed in the Killeshin hotel last weekend and I have to say we were not very impressed, there were a number of things that need changing like the bed linen it seems there was stains on the duvet, bar food was only served till 7 o clock and the main dining area closed at 9.30 in the evening the bar area was freezing and not only my party but a number of other guests changed drinks they had purchased a number of times at the bar because both the Guinness and Budweiser tasted foul , five star hotel I think not
We stayed 2 nights availing of dinner both nights. Room was quiet, warm and comfortable. Service and food was excellent. Breakfast was good too. No complaints. Underground car park is very convenient. Hotel is nicely situated on the old Dublin Road about 2 km from the M7 motorway. Leisure facilities are very good too. Stayed here in 2011 too and will stay in this hotel again.
Lovely spacious rooms, really impressed with the food and the presentation. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be returning soon!
A very nice hotel. Room was a fine size for 2 adults and 2 children with baby cot set up. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly which is so important. It makes you want to return. Couldn't be more helpful! The pool was perfect for kids, which is why we came here. Breakfast to the room is the only time I've ever had it hot to the room! It was very substantial too. Perfect both days. Only gripe: Kids had afternoon nap after swimming and you can't order a sandwich to the room on a Sunday before 4pm as they're too busy serving hot food in the bar. No mention of this on room service menu. Went to the bar to bring them up to the room. Not a chance. I went to Topaz to get us rolls!
I booked my night in the Killeshin Hotel with Lidl breaks. I loved every minute of my stay, great value for money . The hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I'm looking forward to going back.
Great hotel no complaints whatsoever very clean and bright and the staff were very friendly and efficient, swimming pool and jacuzzi were perfect to unwind in,the gym looked very modern but i was there to relax so i didnt use any of the many exercise machines, restaurant was nice the food was lovely and again staff very nice, nice big bar but yet cosy and nicely decorated, bedroom nice and spacious with everything you could want in it ,lovely breakfast next morning if you left hungry it would be your own fault, all in all 10 out of 10. will definately stay there again. mark & pauline.
I stayed in the Killeshin Hotel at the weekend with my partner and the hotel was fabulous, staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, the room was very spacious, spotless and comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was absolutely fabulous, and breakfast following morning was lovely with great choices. I couldnt fault this hotel in any way, our stay was very pleasant from start to finish. I would recommend it to anybody. We will definitely stay there again.
Hi I have just returned from an over night stay in the killeshin hotel. I pre booked 2 rooms for the special 1 nights stay with 2 course evening meal and breakfast. For the most part everything was very good. The staffs were very pleasant. The hotel rooms were very big and spacious. The health spa and gym was very clean and well maintained. There were just two small issues; the television was not working in the rooms, and the extra supplement on the meals which I do not have a major problem with mainly due to the quality of the food that was served. If I was pre-informed of the supplement on the menu it would have been more enjoyable rather than a €5 here or a €10 there as you are about to order. But I must finish by saying the quality of the food was some of the best I ever had at any Hotel. I would have no problem in recommending a stay there and I hope to return soon myself.
lovely hotel friendly staff and the restaurant food is very good
myself, the husband and our 2 children stayed here recently. a beautiful hotel, very friendly staff( even gave us a late checkout ) the rooms were lovely and cosy and the food in the restaurant was fab. the kids were allowed in the bar with us , so we got to enjoy a few drinks !! the pool was lovely too, dont have a bad word to say about this hotel , well worth its 4 star status . joan coughlan
Sadly I could only stay one night,so I didn't have time to try the leisure club .Which looked great !! .We had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The room was large and spotless and very comfortable .Staff were friendly and efficient .I would this hotel to anyone .Plus value for money from hotelsonline.ie (e49 for B and B and evening meal) really tops it off
Service was excellent. Rooms lovely and very modern. Very comfortable. Staff made us feel welcome at all times. Gorgeous food in restaurant and huge choice for breakfast. Excellent overall.
LOVELY HOTEL HAD A GREAT WEEKEND. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. WE HAD A LOVELY MEAL ON SATURDAY NIGHT IT WAS A GREAT MEAL. BREAKFAST VERY GOOD TO. WOULD GO BACK THERE AGAIN.
We had a lovely relaxing time at the Killeshin last week. The staff were so nice and obliging. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent and I would definitely return again for an overnight stay.
hi we thought the room was great and spotless.Staff very friendly, service great, lots of parking parking .it was very good value, as all Lidl breaks are.
this is an excellent hotel great staff and great service. Nothing was too much trouble.
We were very happy with the hotel. The room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The pool and surroundings were in good condition. The bar food was very good and tasty and most of all the staff were superb. They were always incredibly friendly and helpful. All in all we really enjoyed our 3 nights there
Dear sir/madem, We had a great time in the Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise .The staff and service where very good. The only thing I would comment on is there was no entertainment at night in the hotel.
We had a very enjoyable October Bank Holiday Week End at the Killeshin Hotel . Rooms were of a very high standard and very comfortable. Leisure facilities were excellent. Bar food was very good. We ate in restraunt on both nights and the food was excellent and staff very attentive. The only crictism we had was that the entertainment was very poor on Saturday night and there was none on Sunday night. Ken & Patricia Deirdre & Paddy
hotel very nice staff friendly food beautiful , only problem room on front second floor very noisy with passing traffic even with window shut. Excellent weekend.
Excellent. Very enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Room spotless, breakfast very good choice. Ample parking. Would definitely recommend & would stay here again.
Lovely hotel located very close to Portlaoise centre. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. Facilities and food also very good.
This was our 3rd stay in the Killeshin in Portlaoise, Twice on Lidl Breaks and once directly with the hotel, my husband and I were looking for a hotel that was not a huge trip from Dublin as we were only staying 1 night. We discovered the Killeshin... Roughly a 50 min drive from Blanchardstown. We have not been disappointed on any of our stays... The Staff on reception are very welcoming, rooms are spacious and modern. We were on the Dinner Bed and Breakfast deal... Our dinner was lovely beautifully cooked chicken. Service in the restaurant was attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was self service there was a good selection of food and no trouble to make our scrambled eggs or with extra pots of tea and coffee... If you arrive early as we did on the Saturday and have not had lunch the Bar serves a lovely menu - Goats cheese bruchetta is beautiful... Leisure facilities are perfect pool, gym, Jacuzzi steam room and sauna everything you need. Over all I would rate the Killeshin with 5 Stars and yes we will be back again. :-)
I stayed for one night and it was excellent. Staff very friendly in reception and restaurant. Food fantastic , accomodation very comfortable. I Would recommend this hotel.
I booked a Mum and Daughter night away with Lidl Breaks, we had a really lovely time which started as soon as we checked in, the reception staff were lovely and so helpful. We had requested a smoking room which we found was very nice far better than some 4star hotels I have stayed in before .The leisure facilities were very good, as was the evening meal. I would recommend the Killeshin Hotel as being great value with lovely helpful staff and will be returning in the near future.
we really enjoyed our stay staff were exellent and the food was amazing ate there every night the room was very spacious and clean would recomend
Fantastic Hotel, The food was the best we ever had, the staff and service was second to none, very enjoyable weekend and Hotel is gorgeous :)
We had a one night stay at the killeshin on Saturday 10th September. It was a girly night away for four of us. Nicola on reception was very helpful and friendly and would be a great addition to any hotel Staff as was Diamonti the girl on reception in April when we last stayed there. The food in the dining room was excellant. Very tasty and served by very effiecient staff. Breakfast was a bit of a free for all as they were very busy and did not have enough staff to deal with all the clients. Food was good when we got it although we had to wait a few times until the platters we refilled - but it was good. The bed rooms are big and spacious and nicely decorated. We had a room on the third floor over the front door which did nothing for a good nights sleep as all the smokers gathered around there to have their cigs and chatted away to each other but kept us awake also. Maybe the smoking area should be moved? The main reason why we wont be back is the Bar staff. We had the same problem in April and found them ALL to have no manners and really we got the impression they really could not care less about their customers. We are not the only guests to notice this as I see from other reviews the same complaint. Management you need to look at what the problem is!!!! Stadff most attentive and foor very tasty and served with a smile. Breakfast was a bit
Hotel lovely, rooms big ,breakfast. topclass plenty of everything.Leisure center beautiful.I was very dissapointed with the evening meal, just likebar food,no potatoes and veg.no tea or coffee .waiter not nice.three star plus
Loved this hotel. The staff were exceptionally helpful with information; the breakfast was beautiful and the room was lovely. Am looking forward to a return visit. Stay in this hotel!
Really nice new hotel, though rooms are missing those little extras that make it 4 star. No safe, fridge, Aircon, but really nice bathroom with a shower glass, not a curtain. Those digital safes are 25 euro in Lidl, and without one you end up leaving your valuables in the car while using the Gym or pool.. Super gym and pool BTW. Minor niggle, the Lidl break includes two courses plus coffee from a three course menu. We were presented this three course menu, and then another menu which was a selection of two courses from the three course menu, and told to choose from the latter. Choosing anything outside incurred a 5 euro supplement. So I could have the garlic mushrooms, but the bruschetta would cost me a fiver extra. Same for mains, and there were no desserts on the two course menu, which seemed to imply that having main/dessert instead of starter/main would cost an extra five. The head waiter was both confused and apologetic, trying to explain the intricacies of this, and we still ended up paying a fiver more. Items on the three course menu which already had a 5 euro supplement (such as duck) would then carry a ten euro supplement if chosen as part of your two courses. This is nit picking in the extreme. Also we were told to dine before 6.30 or after 9.30, but the restaurant was never so busy that we could have arrived at 7.15, our prefered time. We solved this by poring over the menu for over half an hour, and having our pre dinner drink at the table while we did. When we ordered at 7.00, there were only two other couples in the restaurant. I much prefer a busy restaurant and having to wait a little than dining at childrens hour on my own. Incidentally, all the prime times, 7.30 to 8.30, were mostly people with infants and toddlers. This aside, a good value night out.
Hotel very nice food very good staff very helpful only complaint is the windows could do with being double glazing you can hear every thing. cars going up and down the road all night makes it hard to sleep . you would think they were in your room.
Most things were fine - but a few things could be improved. We booked a three-night say and asked for a quiet room. We were given one beside a busy road where traffic noise did not abate at night. We asked for a change of room; our request was courteously and efficiently handled. We cannot understand why a quiet room was not given to us in the beginning. At breakfast the plates were cold so that the breakfast items were cold by the time you reached the end of your meal. The food to our taste was very salty. We were interested in visiting the Heywood Gardens near Abbeyleix. Our guide book did not make clear when they were open. We asked Reception who told us they were closed during the school holidays. We doubted this and rang the Gardens ourselves. We were told the Gardens were open every day then until 10:00 p.m. (They are reached through a Community School and this may have caused confusion - but it would have been preferable if Reception had said they did not know rather than give us wrong information). Otherwise we were satisfied. Rooms were clean and spacious. Reception staff were courteous and check-in and out were efficient. Bar food was tasty - but too much fat and salt to be healthy.
Staff are Brilliant!! Lady at reception was really helpful. Really nice bar food. Rooms could do with a fridge or at least an Ice Box on each Floor. Hotel could probably promote Portlaoise a bit more, there was no information booklets, There was an Irish Music Festival on and we only found out on our last night. Great hotel, nice break!
Lovely hotel, staff very nice and Food was Excellent will be back
STAYED LAS SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE KILLESHIN HOTEL FOUND LIDL TO BE BE EXCELLENT VALUE AND ALL WENT WELL FOUND THE HOTEL AND STAFF GREAT A BIT UNDER STAFFED MAYBE BUT HOTEL WAS BUSY SATURDAY NIGHT SO ON REGULAR BASIS PROBABLY FINE ALL WENT WELL UNTIL WE CAME HOME MY BROTHER IN LAW AND HIS WIFE WERE WITH US AND THEY WERE ONLY BACK IN CORK SUNDAY WHEN SHE STARTED VOMMITTING AND DIARRHOEA AND BY THE EVENING MY BROTHER IN LAW STARTED WITH IT WE ATE IN HOTEL SATURDAY NIGHT THEY BOTHI HAD TIGER PRAWNS AND SEA BASS TO EAT AND AS MY HUSBAND AND I HAD CHICKEN CAN ONLY PRESUME THEY GOT FOOD POISIONING FROM THE FISH I DID RING HOTEL TO ENQUIRE IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY MORE COMPALINTS AS FELT A BIT RESSPONSIBLE AS IT WAS I BOOKED THIS HOTEL BUT ONLY TO BE TOLD NO ONE ELSE HAD PROBLEM IF THEY WANTED TO GET MEDICAL PROOF TO SAY IT WAS FOOD POISIONING COME BACK TO HIMI DIDNT EVEN SAY TO THEM AS I KNOW THEY WOULDNT PURSUE IT BUT AS WE ONLY ATE IN HOTEL SATURDAYSO CANT BE ANYWHERE ELSE ,MY BROTHER IN LAW ONLY RETURNED TO WORK YESTERDAY SISTER IN LAW STILL NOT BACK TO WORK SO WE WONT BE RETURNING TO THE KILLESHIN HOTEL
We stayed just the one night with dinner included. The receptionist was extremely friendly. More than I can say for the bar and waiting staff. We were told orders were taken for dinner till 8.45. When we placed our order at 8.40, the staff showed their disgust. We had to eat in the bar, which was fine, but for a 4 star hotel, I felt the least that could be done, as place settings put down, rather than fire down the cutlery somewhere on the table. The breakfast was nice but still very basic for a 4 star. We had to go looking for the staff for the tea and toast. Overall, I wouldn't be recommending this hotel. I hope we just caught the staff on a off day. And from reading the other reviews, we may have.
We arrived on Friday evening to a very pleasant receptionist who gave us all the details we needed. Our room very spacious & comfortable. We found service in the bar rather slow although the staff were friendly enough. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly & the food was excellent. My husband asked for a second pillow at 10am on Saturday morning, had to ask again in the afternoon & again in the evening which was quite annoying. Our experience in the Killeshin was overall good but there is definately room for improvement.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable but decor was dull. Food was excellent only let down by cold plates for breakfast buffet.
Stayed for one night at Killeshin hotel. The food is lovely the bedroom was lovely and big.Staff friendly. One thing I would like is hot plates for my good fry.The breakfast was just fab. Will stay again.
our stay was great, friendly helpful staff, unfortunately could not dine in the restaurant until 9 pm, which we found too late, but could have same meal in the bar which was excellent food, at breakfast we still could not eat in the restaurant and we had to help ourselves to the buffet in the restaurant and the retreat to eat it in the bar at a certain area, found this off putting as if the restaurant and hotel is fully booked why not try using the function rooms to cater for the busy periods?
Hotel staff were extremly helpful. Food was lovely and overall it is fantastic value for money.
Nicest hotel ive ever stayed in so clean and modern, staff very nice and helpful, had a meal in the restaurant as part of a deal from lidl breaks couldnt fault it was beautiful, pool lovely would defnietely give the killeshin 10 out of 10 will be staying there again..
Great food, lovely staff, so friendly, nice leisure centre, we will be returning. thankyou for a lovely break
We stayed overnight in the Killeshin Hotel on Sat April 16th. A lovely friendly girl called Diamonte checked us in and gave us a lovely room on the third floor. The decor is first class and the room is very comfortable. We had dinner in the dining room, the food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and most efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Killeshin and will definitely go back again. We think the Lidl breaks are fantastic value and will certainly use them again in the future.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Killeshin Hotel, which was enhanced by friendly and professional staff, the rooms are spacious and the cuisine was par excellence. Finbarr & Bernadette Maguire.
stayed easter sunday night in the hotel, the food in the bar was great value and very tasty. Kids menu was great. Breakfast was great. Would highly recommend hotel and excellent value with Lidi Breaks.
stayed midweek one night. room was nice, staff friendly, got late check out 2pm. bar was a bit cool with the air conditioning. dinner was nice and good value. spouse used pool, jacuzzi, steam room etc and enjoyed them. breakfast buffet was top class, the nicest cooked hotel breakfast I've had. Overall, I would definitely stay in the Killeshin again. you can get a more quiet room at back of hotel as the old dublin road is busy enough at front of hotel.
The hotel is lovely and our room was really really nice, but unfortunately it was a room at the front of the hotel (family room) and as a result we were woken constantly by the traffic noise outside, at 6.45am, not a very good time to be woken at when you are on holidays :( Otherwise lovely hotel but bad location, would not recommend it for a relaxing stay or with children.
All in all a nice place to stay but was let down by the attitude of one of the Bar staff and his lack of enthusiasm for his job. He was very uncooperative. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was lovely.
My boyfriend and I stayed for a 1 night at the hotel and we had just an ok stay. The lady at reception on check in was very helpful. We had planned on eating in the restaurant that evening and it was fully booked which was disappointing. The Hotel had a wedding on, and the smoking courtyard was outside our room, it was very noisy and couldn't sleep that night for about 2/3 hours. It would have been better if they located non wedding guests on the other side of the hotel and keep the wedding guests on that side of the hotel. On the positive side the lady at reception gave us a free late check out which was good.
Had a lovely stay with great food. Got a room just over the smoking area & it was so loud really disappointed. Could also hear the wedding band loud & clear. Apart from that i would recommend.
Excellent service, Staff were very helpful. Food lovely. Will definitly return
Really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Cannot fault the hotel, everything was perfect. My only gripe which is something so small was that the pillows were rock hard and just very uncomfortable. This is something very minor. Everything else was perfect. I would go back.
What a wonderful hotel!!!! Clean and fresh, friendly and accomodating. Great rooms and fantastic food! We had the best fillet steak in years ( and I'm a avid cook!) for only an extra fiver suppliment. Great value would highly recommend this hotel.
excellent value for money. Pity about the noise in the room next to us. We had been advised by staff that there would be a noisy function on so we were moved to a different room. However on the second night, it was our neighbours who kept us awake all night( including my 8 month old baby). The party in the room went on until 7 in the morning!! The hotel however has a lovely pool and nice food. We found it very family friendly also. Will definitely book through Lidl deals again-but at a different hotel next time.
We stayed in this hotel for 2 night B&B and two dinners. Its a really nice 4 star hotel with great food and good service. There was great variety on the set menu. The hotel is around 15 min walk to the town centre and around %u20AC5 euro in a taxi. I would definately recomend this hotel !! Great value for money !!
Stayed in a family room week -end 25/2/2011. Very pleased with the hotel facilities, staff very helpful and friendly with the Iidl break it was very good value for money. I hope to return for another short break soon.
We stayed in this hotel on fri 25th Feb. We had a lovely time. The hotel is really lovely. The girls on reception at check in and check out were friendly and helpful. The ambiance in this hotel is lovely. Having the lanterns in the lobby is a lovely touch. Our room was huge and it was spotless as was the bathroom. The bed was comfy and the pillows were divine and I'm very fussy when it comes to pillows. We had dinner in the restaurant, the menu we git was different to the main menu but it had a nice variety on it. The meal was nice, not amazing but it was nice, the waiters were lovley and we weren't under any pressure to finish despite the fact that we were the last people in therestaurant. We had a drink in the bar which was very relaxing. There seemed to be a nice mix of locals and residents. Breakfast next morning was lovely and set us up for the day. We would definitely return here again.
Myself and husband stayed in Killeshan Hotel for 1 night. The Hotel was lovely, rooms were very contemporary. Reception staff and bar staff were very nice and helpful. The leisure centre was really nice and relaxing. The bar food was delicious. The only complaint I would have is that the bar stops serving food at 7pm on a Saturday night, and that there is no entertainment in the bar. I would definitely recommend this hotel. LIDL BREAKS ARE GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.
We have stayed in this hotel before and as usual everything was excellent- staff, room and food. Lidl breaks are great value for money and we wil continue to avail of their offer.
Lovely hotel helpful staff, food was lovely. Facilities were spotless. Would definitely stay there again. Excellent value for money. Recommending Lidl breaks to everyone.
I stayed here with my two children,7 and 8 and this was the second time booking and staying through a Lidl(never any trouble with the service from Lidl, 5 star) deal. First time around was fine however this time was not. We arrived after 3 o'clock only to be told that our reservation had been canceled by the manager and the lady on reception did not know why. We had to wait in the lobby for 40 minutes while this was resolved. I was then told that there was a room available and the price was %u20AC120 for the night. I explained that I had booked through Lidl and already paid a deposit, this was eventually sorted and we were taken to our room. When we got to the room we had to wait while they brought 2 extra beds into the room and then they had to make the beds, this took another 30. It was 5:10 at this stage and I wanted to bring the kids swimming as that was the main reason for booking this hotel. I was then told that kids had to be out of the pool by 6. To top it off the milk in the room was gone off too. Very disappointing service all round from a 4 star hotel, although the lady on reception was very apologetic and did offer me tea or coffee while she got the problem with the reservation resolved. What happened was not her fault and she was very polite while resolving the problem.
A lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. I could not fault the room or the facilities. My 2 year old son particularly enjoyed the very modern swimming pool. One of those rare hotels that lives up to it's billing. Bernard, Lucan, Co Dublin
We had two rooms in this hotel on a Saturday night, the staff were very nice, the rooms comfortable and spotless (although the twin room did comprise of two single beds instead of the industry standard queen size). The leisure facilities were lovely and again spotless. The food was really tasty and we enjoyed our stay. The only negative things we experienced was the fact that they had fillet steak on the menu and brough sirloin and only when questioned did they admit there was no fillet steak. They were apologetic and did offer us the option of anything else on the menu instead and when we declined they did send over a bottle of wine on the house which was pro-active customer service. The only other small thing was that as a four star hotel it lacked the little 'extras' for example my sister needed to stitch her dress and was told they don't do sewing kits, we also did not have a shower cap in our room. Overall though it was a good experience.
This is a fantastic hotel with very helpful staff. The food was superb in the restaurant also and the portions were a great size. The leisure centre was also very modern and spotless. All in all a very worth 4 star hotel and a great value break for %u20AC98 for B&B and dinner for two.
great value lovely hotel staff very helpful h ope to stay again thank you so much marydoyle
great value, amazing food. great staff, clean well appointed rooms, nice pool
I was very disappointed with this hotel. My wife and I booked this hotel for a night away and relaxing dinner with no children, only to be told on arrival the restaurant was closed and only the bar was available for food. We had booked in at this stage so deciided we'd give it a chance. Mistake on my behave, menu choice very poor and the food inedible with no satisfaction from staff. I complained when checking out only for the manager to ring me later to speak condescending to me. The only reason I gave two stars is room and breakfast was good.
Myself and my husband went there for 1 night stay. I could not fault anything about this hotel, from the minute we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and the room perfect. We were booked in for a meal also, the food was outstanding . I could not fault this hotel every member of staff were very friendly and heplful, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks again keep it up. D
I stayed in the Killeshin Hotel on Saturday, November 6th, 2010, with a group of 5 others. We stayed for one night, and were all very satisfied with our overnight stay! The rate was very reasonable, the hotel staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms were tastefully decorated and spotless, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel, but had a few drinks in the bar, and found it friendly and cheerful. There was a good crowd there, but there was no difficulty getting a place to sit. We had a beautiful breakfast the following morning, with everything freshly cooked. Some of the group enjoyed a swim in the pool the following morning. I would have no hesitation staying at this hotel again, and would heartily recommend it to all.
Had a fabulous time. The hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The hotel facilities were great. The value was fantastic. We will definitely revisit and are already planning.
Great value for money as the room was lovely and the dinner was superb, didnt like the way the staff kept referring to us as "lidl break offer users". Its a %u20AC7-8 taxi ride into the town also. The leisure centre is very busy at the weekends as it is used by the public but overall I was very happy with the offer.
We would rate our recent stay in the Killeshin Hotel 5 star. The lady at reception was very pleasant and most helpful. The room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant excellent as was the staff there. We would have no hesitation in returning. We will certainly be using the Lidl Breaks again. Excellent value for money. We informed our in-laws of the Lidl breaks and they have already booked one!
We booked our break with two other families. 6 adults and five kids. We found the hotel to be excellent . itwas not only value for money through lidl breaks but once booked the killeshin hotel staff were most helpfull in sorting out our groups particular needs. The three familes enjoyed their stay, the staff were very naturally friendly and helpfull, the food was excellent and the leisure centre was enjoyable. The rooms were also comfy spacious and up to date. For three families from three different parts of ireland we found portlaoise to be the perfect spot to meet up and the hotel facilities were ideal for our needs. And absolutely brilliant value!!! We will book through lidle breaks again. Burke familiy from Kerry and friends from Louth and Tipperary.
We had a brilliant week-end, everything about the hotel was perfect, the food ,rooms, the leisure club and especially the staff, from the restaurant staff, the bar staff ,reception staff and housekeeping staff, couldn't have asked for a nicer crew. Lidl break excellent value, the best around. Lidl making it easier to have a break away. We will definitely be back. Would rate the Hotel 10 out of 10 all over
We really enjoyed our stay at the Killeshin - the receptionist there was very welcoming and friendly on our arrival. The room we stayed in was lovely - very spacious and clean. The reason I gave it 3 stars was the breakfast was only ok - we had to get our own tea, coffee & toast each morning and there were no tea pots available. The hot food was only ok also and there was a very average selection available with no cold meats or freshly chopped fruit platters. There was no music in the hotel bar even though it was a bank holiday weekend and we had to queue to check out as there was only one receptionist. I guess signs of the recession! Overall, however, I would stay there again.
I was really pleased with the Lidl break stay in the Killeshin Hotel. I thought that it was really good value for money & would recommend it to friends. The rooms were a good size & the food portions were very good. Overall a very enjoyable trip.
very enjoyable would love to stay there again but for a longer period
Hotel was lovely, we thought food was overpriced compared to bar prices. leisure centre was very nice, well maintained and very clean. rooms were spacious. handy location for shopping in kildare village. lidl price was very good for accomodation ,will definitely use lidl website again! Thanks Taragh & Michael
All good reception food and room ,all i missed was a shower cap
Very impressed with hotel. Had a family function in Portlaoise and several members of my family stayed in the Killeshin. Food excellent, rooms extremely clean and airy. Must compliment the lady on Reception she was so pleasant and extremely helpful and courteous. Have stayed in a few hotels over the duration of the summer and the Killeshin exceeded them all on every aspect. Only aspect I could say against hotel was pool was extremely cold - I had two young children with me and it was way too cold for them. But definitely a thumbs up for this one!
I enjoyed my stay in your hotel except that I had to pay for my evening meal which I thought should have been paid for as part of the Lidl break. This I found dissapointing the morning I left. The pool area, bedrooms and the breadfast were for me the most impressive experience for me.
My partner and 8 month old boy had a lovely long weekend stay at the Killeshin hotel. The rooms were neat and well maintained, the staff pleasant and obliging. The breakfast was a treat, albeit with a bit of a wait on the first morning due to demand. The only quibble I'd have was with the bar food - we ate a risotto and a steak from the bar menu on one evening and found the food was just all right, nothing special for the price it carried. The steak was overdone and tough and the risotto was too laden with cream and butter. We ate out the following evening. The high point of our stay, however was the leisure centre. We really enjoyed the pool, steam room and jacuzzi and got busy pampering ourselves over the weekend. A suggestion to the Killeshin: It would presumably be an easy matter for the Killeshin to add massage therapist services to the leisure centre? We would have enjoyed a massage and a local therapist plus the hotel would have benefited from the custom.
Hotel was lovely staff were very friendly rooms very comfotable breakfast and evening lovely very good value and I would stay in the hotel again
there was a problem when we got there, the manager said the hotel was never booked, so we had to stay in another hotel. hotel said they never got your e mail. hoping you can look into it and get back to me.
The Killeshin in Portlaoise was similar to Roganstown Hotel i.e expensive surroundings with no heart or soul. The food was quite nice when it eventually arrived but breakfast was a fiasco with a full house from a wedding the night before. The restaurant could not cope with a full house and we were agitated and hungry as we waited in the lobby for a free table (after being kept awake the night before by the DJ who agadoo-doo-dooed till 3am.) We found the service so inept that we checked out a night early to save ourselves the stress of another %u201Crestaurant%u201D experience. The complaint was very professionally handled and we received a refund for which we were grateful.
The hotel and staff were excellent and good value for what we paid. Unfortunitly we arrived on the saturday at 2.30 in the afternoon. Our rooms were not ready until 5. 0 clock. Again we got settled , we were informed that food stopped being served at 6.45.As their was a wedding on , we were told that the weekly live music was cancelled and the only entertainment was the noise from the wedding party till 04.30 in the morning. Not great when you have a child with you. Again the staff were great and pool kept the little one happy. Dominic H.
Really enjoyed our stay i Kieshin Hote Food was delicious the only thing was that we had to wait in the reception for our breakfast for a while and when we got to the restaurant the kitchen had run out of food they said it was because they were so busy but they should have been able to cater for this as it was the long weekend so they should have known it was busy. Otherwise it was very enjoyable.
Lovely hotel.Staff very helpful. Food good.Bedroom spacious , I liked the long mirrors on the wardrobes. The leisure club is nice .Parking good.We had a lovely time .
