The hotel was generally fine. Good location. Staff very friendly and helpful. However the 11:00 am checkout was unexpected. Why not the standard 12 noon checkout?

We had a lovely stay, the staff in the hotel were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and there is nice bar with a great view of the river. The pool and leisure center has a great view also, the changing rooms could do with updating though, also there should be a drinking water dispenser inside the pool area and specifically near the sauna.

Joan scored 5 / 5 on 14/04/2022

Denise scored 5 / 5 on 26/03/2022

Very welcoming staff, beautiful bedrooms & spotlessly clean. Fantastic location wether you were staying in the city or taking a coastal trip as we did. Breakfast was buffet style lots of choice but could have been warmer & the same for the dinner we ate in the hotel the first night it was cold to be honest and it’s an expensive enough menu for that. However it wouldn’t deter me from staying there again. Sarah in the dining room was very efficient & the reception staff were also lovely.

Carmel scored 3 / 5 on 22/02/2022

Julia scored 3 / 5 on 18/01/2022

Breakfast was beautiful however disappointed in quality of dinner. For prices charged it was only standard

Alan scored 4 / 5 on 05/01/2022

Fantastic hotel stayed with my wife and two sons. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and had very safe Covid policy in place. Food for dinner was great breakfast a little disappointing alot of things not available but given the time of year I suppose it's to be expected Special mention to the food and beverage manager he went out of his way to make my sons feel special and gave them his full attention. Overall a great stay and will definitely book again.

Had a lovely spacious triple room on the tenth floor. Had lovely breakfast and dinner in bright spacious airy conditions which was lovely. The lift was a little busy at peak times due to social distancing and all that but otherwise it was a great venue and so close to the city.

Fiona scored 4 / 5 on 08/09/2020

Lovely hotel, brilliant location. I must say the staff were really helpful and very friendly.

Una scored 3 / 5 on 08/09/2020

Mixed up room type on check in. We had dinner in the hotel, the supposed twice cooked potatoe chips served with the fish were undercooked, we complained and the server said she would inform the chef, no replacement or apology. Cleanliness and implenting covid guidelines were very well done.

David scored 4 / 5 on 01/09/2020

I know it's difficult for staff during these times but i felt it was handled very well. I'd definitely stay again. Regards

Grainne scored 4 / 5 on 26/08/2020

Lovely big spacious family room. Comfortable beds and excellent dinner and breakfast in hotel restaurant.

Orla scored 5 / 5 on 06/08/2020

From the lovely, friendly helpful receptionist who managed to check us in earlier, the kind, attentive, smiling waitress that served us food on both nights in the bar & the 2 friendly & helpful guys in the leisure centre the staff were so nice! Family room was a good size too. Only slight issue was the breakfast portions on Monday morning were way smaller than on the Sunday morning?! Great location & fabulous staff!

Celina scored 4 / 5 on 04/08/2020

Beautiful hotel with stunning views from our room. The staff were really friendly. Breakfast was fabulous and plentiful. The only down side was the pool was a bit cold but other than that I would definitely recommend it and I'm looking forward to returning some time in the future. ????

I used bargain breaks.ie to book a stay in Clayton Hotel Limerick. It was great value and a lovely stay

Maria scored 4 / 5 on 25/09/2018

We had a lovely stay on the Clayton. We had a beautiful view of the river and we were within walking distance of the pubs and restaurants which was great. Breakfast was nice and the staff were helpful and friendly. Only negatives are the liesure centre is a bit small and you have to pay and overnight fee for the parking. Overall 4/5 stars.

Pat scored 3 / 5 on 07/11/2017

Thank you for the great value for money.Unfortunitely, due to the hotel placing us in a family room facing onto the docks with the crane driver who started at 8AM moving scrap metal around This continued all dayon the tuesday. Can live with that , but can't live with being woke up at 8am on a chill out break during hallowen week. The hotels we have stayed in on you're breakaways have been really nice.Food was nice andCarla on reception was pleasant.Customer service was trouble by the management as i never got a response from the hotel.Poor .Would still like to thank you all for the great breaks that ye organise.Keep up the good work.Till the next hotel which i know will be better.Pat l

Gerard scored 4 / 5 on 07/11/2017

Nice comfortable rooms , spacious and comfortable. Downstairs is the bar and dining area , not very comfortable , a bar you would not really want to stay long in , a separate more comfortable bar area would be better.

Couldn't recommend this enough! On check-in the receptionist upgraded our room to a spacious superior with river view, robes, big flat screen TV, chocolates and a really comfy king-sized bed!! Great location, really helpful and friendly staff and super choice for breakfast. Amazing value for money... Thank You!

Sandra scored 5 / 5 on 27/08/2017

This hotel was one of the best hotels that we have stayed in. The room was amazing with its wonderful views of the river Shannon from its floor to ceiling bay window. The bed was situated facing the bay window which gave the beautiful sight of the city lights at night and the daybreak of the river Shannon in the morning with its wildlife. The Staff were very helpful and really friendly, with Declan in particular, upgrading us to a superior/ deluxe room when we told him that we were down for our 24th Wedding anniversary. An overall brilliant experience and a definite return to the Clayton Limerick Hotel in the future. We couldn't fault it!

Ann scored 4 / 5 on 25/08/2017

I really enjoyed my stay in Clayton Hotel in Limerick. The hotel is within walking distance of the city. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff are extremely friendly. The food was excellent and I was delighted to be able to get a coffee and cake late in the evening. The pool area was good and very clean. In all I will definitely stay there again.

We had a fab time in the Clayton hotel in Limerick, thanks to Lidl breaks. I had not stayed in a Clayton hotel before but certainly will again. Thanks

Jc scored 3 / 5 on 11/07/2017

In general the hotel was really nice, great location. The pool was a bit small and don't forget your hats as they are a fiver each then.... I didn't find the receptionist that pleasant to deal with if I am honest and I really felt like I was lower class because I was on a Lidl deal. I didn't realise that I had to pay extra for the kids breakfast and just requested that I could check my details, they said no, I needed to pay there and then... I asked if they wouldn't mind billing it to the room and I would pay it on check out, they said no to that as well as I only had a Debit card, I had no cash on me at the time so I had to go back down and pay it straight after breakfast I was told. I paid for the following day as well so I wouldn't be embarrassed again and my partner was asked to pay again. Also on check out I was asked to pay it again! then there was the extra for the car park and honestly I would avoid going on a deal again as I would not want to be made feel like that again in front of other guests. I realise I should have read the small print but I don't think it was handled well.. maybe at the time of check in you should be asked to cover the kids breakfast. Again the hotel itself is really nice, just wasn't to fond of the staff...

Mac scored 4 / 5 on 02/07/2017

Great place to stay - terrific room on 14th Floor, looking down river. Staff great as always and the breakfast is very good. Parking slightly problematic, but I always park on the Dock Road or O'Curry Street, so it doesn't bother me (until I get a ticket!)

Eeniegif scored 4 / 5 on 16/05/2017

Very comfortable, clean hotel. Had evening meal in bar which was very good value for money with a good choice and very fast service. Buffet breakfast also with a good choice. In a great location. Would definately recommend

Great stay after a long day at an event. Bed was really comfortable only wish we could have had a longer stay.

Ciara scored 2 / 5 on 28/03/2017

The staff were lovely and friendly. Location is close to city and has lovely views of the river. Room was done up recently bed comfortable room was clean. Things to improve on: Bar menu very limited with not a good selection especially at lunch. The pool was cold. Curtains don't cover the window (there was a corner window on 11th floor) so the sun came through in the morning. Car park across the road and its paid parking.

Mags scored 4 / 5 on 07/03/2017

This was a great hotel in a great location. The room was spacious and spotless and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late on Friday evening and our room was cleaned on Saturday even though we had hardly used the room. The variety of food for breakfast was excellent but the food could be a little warmer. The drink prices in the bar were very expensive. Overall I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Roisin scored 5 / 5 on 06/03/2017

We had a wonderful stay in the Clayton recently. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The room was warm, clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable - we all slept so well. I would highly recommend this venue for both business and leisure. 5 stars

I stayed at this hotel many times before when it was called The Clarion Hotel and always enjoyed my stay this was my first time to stay under new owners and it was a disaster. The following are a list of complaints my self and my wife had during our stay on Tuesday17th Jan 2017 room no 1101 I have written to the manager with my list of complaints on 19th Jan but got no reply. Glass of Merlot €8 in the bar Food horrible complained to waiter and receptionist but of no avail. Came down for breakfast next morning to the dirtiest dining room I have ever seen 9 free tables non set properly for breakfast .When I went up for self service breakfast the plates were dirty I spoke to a girl behind the breakfast bar and showed her the dirty plate she said sorry about that. The toaster not working properly. The bedroom was also dirty with water running in toilet bowl all night. I will never stay in this hotel again and my advice would be STEER CLEAR

Good spot for a stay in Limerick - good value too via Lidl Breaks.

Natasha scored 3 / 5 on 02/01/2017

Stayed for 2 nights with my partner and 10yr old son. We had read previous reviews about the car parking situation so knew to go the multistorey across the way when we arrived. On check in everything went OK, we were asked did we want a complimentary newspaper each morning so we said yes, never received this. We went for a walk around town and then back to grab something to eat in the bar, when we got the menu it was Asian or European dishes, nothing to just snack on or no even pub grub, wings etc. So we settled for the soup of the day which was lovely and decided to go out to the town a couple hours later to get fed. The next morning at breakfast we got seated fine and there was a nice choice of food, continental and standard fry. After breakfast we went to the pool area, as the hotel has just changed over the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were closed. The pool was quite small and packed with adults and children so for anyone looking to do a couple lengths which some guy did, there was no chance, he ended up leaving. That evening we went for dinner in the restaurant, food was lovely, wine a little pricey and the lighting was very dark. Service was excellent. I did find though that all the guests with children were coupled together in the restaurant and on the same floor in the hotel, which I don't think is fair. The next morning at breakfast was pandemonium, we had to wait on a list to be seated in the restaurant, which for the size of this hotel is crazy. They have 15 floors and their restaurant is not suitable for this, even not at the busy times. The hotel itself is in a great location, with beautiful views of the Shannon and 5 minutes from the town. I would stay here again now that I am aware of certain things but not unless I got a good deal as the 4* star price they charge they don't live up to.

Irmantas scored 1 / 5 on 02/01/2017

It was one of the worst experiences during last 5 years. swimming poll facilities was under construction, no one told us till we find in the lift. Beds were all in bits 2 joined together with about 1 inch difference in high. So god help you if you are getting room no 904 and planning to sleep. Rest is not so bad. Staff and food was excellent.

Reviewer93095023 scored 4 / 5 on 01/01/2017

Booked one night stay BB&M. hotel location and views from room lovely, Breakfast grand, But really let down with evening meal. Given a "value Menu" which it stated on the bottom upgrade Menu €6 surcharge. asked for this and was given Christmas Menu no other food available. very poor selection compared to other hotels I have stayed in, in Limerick,. It would have been better ordering room service as that Menu was superior. Would still rate as 4* Bar and Hotel fine. Restaurant menu needs looking at.

Beautiful view from the 11th floor. Room was clean and basic enough. Breakfast was nice. Staff lovely and helpful. Lovely stay. Bathroom grout/bath sealer and window sill in room could do with maintenance ASAP.

Ger scored 5 / 5 on 06/12/2016

Excellent value on LIDL breaks for a great hotel in a great location. Hotel staff at reception were very friendly and even upgraded our room for free. We had lovely quiet room on 8th floor with a view of river, docks and Thomand Park. Room had ample space and was very clean. Only fault I would have was the breakfast room was very busy and some of the fried food was a bit greasy, swimming pool was also closed for maintenance, but other than that an excellent stay would definitely recommend.

Hotel very nice and staff very friendly. The Hotel leisure club was under renovation and not available which was disappointing as we had not been informed prior to our stay. Dining room very cold at dinner and because it was a Lidl break our dinner choice was very limited with the same menu/choice for both nights of our stay. Otherwise it was a very nice and convenient hotel and breakfast was fantastic.

Mary scored 3 / 5 on 24/10/2016

Lovely hotel, mod decor. If on floor above 9, try to take lift on the right as the lift on the left only goes to the 9th floor which means you have to take another lift to floors 10-15 from the 9th floor. (This was not explained to us by the receptionist, had to figure it out as on floor 12) Nice rooms but bathroom dated. No separate shower, low pressure, need to climb into bath in order to use shower. Breakfast good, self service except for tea/coffee. Car park off hotel E8.50 for a night. If possible, try to park elsewhere. My car was spray painted over-night. Signs indicate CCTV, but security advised me when I reported the incident that there is not cameras on all floors!!!!! Walking back at night to hotel bit creepy, walkway was lit up but not very bright. Better off to take a taxi.

Had a lovely stay here at the Clarion Hotel. Room was very spacious and clean and view was spectacular from the 9th floor. Staff were very nice and friendly. Breakfast was ok….bit dry and not great selection of breads. Had food in the bar one night and that was lovely. Pool was fine. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed on a two night break with dinner each night the food and choice of menu was top class. The location of the hotel is very central to shopping and bars, and looks out on the shannon. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We will be back again.

Myself, partner and 2 children stayed in the hotel from Friday 25th till Monday 28 the of march. We were extremely disappointed and will not be staying again. The room itself was comfortable and the housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating however that is where the positive experience ended. My daughter was on an antibiotic which had to be stored in a fridge however there was no fridge in the room and no way of securing a fridge for the room, instead we had to leave it in a communal fridge behind the reception desk which was not satisfactory given it was prescription medication to which any member of reception staff had access. The breakfast was not 4 star standard with the orange juice obviously from concentrate and not fresh and the choice was limited. The food in the bar was barely passable and if I were to guess I would say microwaved as opposed to cooked fresh. The primary focus of the food and beverage staff appeared to be ensuring food and beverage bills were paid immediately, so much so my partner was approached by the breakfast supervisor as just as he was biting into his sausage to pay 10euro for the children's breakfasts, that is very bad service and from our time time in the breakfast room we were not the only family approached in this manner. Overall I would describe the clarion as a hotel with comfortable bedrooms in a convenient location but very badly letdown by the aggressive payment focused culture of the staff which along with the poor standard of food leaves a very bad taste in the mouth and no inclination to return or recommend it in the future.

Lovely hotel. Great views from 14th floor. Very convenient to city centre. Approx 10 min walk. The staff were the stars of the show! A special acknowledgement though to Sorcha at Reception (the Italian you recommended and booked for us was spot on) and the General Manager in the Restaurant (you were great craic!), the mushrooms and poached eggs made by special request at breakfast by 6 of us went down a treat. Many thanks. Catherine.

I booked Dinner, Bed & Breakfast for the Clarion Hotel Limerick with Lidl breaks. When I checked in I was told I only was entitled to Bed & Breakfast. The hotel told me to contact Lidl breaks. Lidl breaks said I only paid for Bed & Breakfast. I have booked hotels often enough to know that I have been had. Don't get caught like me. Take a "screen shot" of what you are booking. Fergus

So central in Limerick city for someone who doesn't like walking!. Staff were so friendly so attentive at every point you met them from reception to the restaurant and also the housekeeping staff. The huge buffet breakfast the next morning was very tasty and delicious. Will I return to this hotel, most definitely. Thank you Airport group schemes

Lovely hotel, good location and great athmosphere in the Kudos bar. The swimming pool is disappointing though and it was also cold.

Rhoda scored 4 / 5 on 23/02/2016

Hotel room was lovely and spaciousness. The good in kudos bar as part of the b&b& evening meal was absolutely gorgeous served by a very nice friendly chap called Noel. Breakfast was also lovey. Only down side is the size and temperature of the swimming pool. There were prob 5 families in in and it was packed, no room to swim and it was very cold.. Other than that we as a family of four had a lovely time here.

Our stay at this hotel was nearly 100% perfect except for the swimming pool,it was very cold for our children and their was another family there who felt the same. The staff were just brilliant, couldn't of been more nicer and the room facilities are lovely. So overall it was a pleasant stay, just the swimming pool was the downfall!!

When we checked in we were given a wheelchair accessible room which was really cold. We then asked for a standard room which they gave us promptly on the 12th floor. The views of the shannon were really nice from this height. It did make me wonder, if we were given the first room because we got a cheap rate with lidl breaks. Also €17 for parking for 2 nights was a bit steep.

Really lovely helpful staff. Room was not like in the pictures on website. They could have been cleaner, dust in some places, marks on the carpet. Floor in bathroom very slippery and dangerous. Breakfast - hot food could have been better, scrambled eggs were nearly white, not enough options for vegetarians. Wifi was excellent, not happy with having to pay extra for car parking. but was made easier by staff to get in and out with car etc. Views were amazing, we stayed on 11th floor. would go back again but would expect more modern room.

We were delighted to take our extended family on an affordable break while they were here from Canada. Being able to book the Clarion through Lidl-breaks made that possible. It was a great hotel, facilities & breakfast and the staff very accommodating. The main restaurant wasn't open that night, but the girls at the desk found us a great place where the 14 of us could walk to for a great meal! A little pricey for parking since we had 4 cars & the hotel hasn't it's own carpark. DM- July '15

We stayed in the Clarion hotel, Limerick, for 1 night recently. The staff were so friendly, in both the Kudo's bar and the restaurant. The food was excellent, in the restaurant, on the satuday evening. We only had one night there, but it was so relaxing. That night, there was a DJ in the bar, and he was great! The bar staff couldn't do enough for us, as well as the restaurant staff. A big thank you to the head chef, Ronan, for the delicious food! We will definately be back again soon.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend and I can't praise the staff highly enough. They were all very pleasant and professional. Our room was on the 13th floor and had fabulous views. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have it's own car park, but they have negotiated a reduced rate with Euro Car Parks which is just around the corner from the hotel. If you are staying for 3 or more nights, ask for a weekly car park ticket, as it works out cheaper! All facilities of the hotel were great, I would definitely stay here again.

Room was lovely had great view and was clean and comfortable. Bar menu wasn't great

Jelena scored 3 / 5 on 20/03/2015

Great communication from the hotel before our arrival so I was really looking forward to it. A bit disappointed after staying there as it was advertised as a luxury hotel. Room was incredibly cold, we tried to adjust the temperature using air conditioning settings, but it didn't heat up at all. Bathroom was moldy and bathtub not cleaned properly. Cobwebs in several places in the room (this is 7th floor room in the city, not exactly countryside). Room looked worn out, carpet was grey but still looked dirty. Not enough towels/toiletries in the room - I had to call the reception twice and wait for an hour to get them. One of the positives is the view from the room over the river, it was beautiful and definitely worth it. The food was good and the breakfast was really nice as well.

Recently enjoyed a stay in The Clarion Hotel, Limerick. The room was fresh, clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. My only criticism was the area directly surrounding the hotel was quite run down. However you are very close to the city centre. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Had very pleasant stay at Clarion Hotel. Beautiful view from bedroom which itself was very clean and well presented. Staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast met all our dietary requirements and we will certainly return and stay there on our next visit to the city. Our only fault would possibly be that the area immediately outside of the front door of hotel not that wonderful but views of river and walks along river very nice indeed.

I recently had a lovely two night stay in the Clarion. I have been here a few times before and am always impressed. The rooms are spotless and all staff where extremely friendly from check-in to check-out. The only issue I had was that the breakfast room was extremely disorganised and chaotic. It seemed as if nobody was in charge. Other than that, great little spot at a great price.

My only issue would be when you come out of the hotel the area to walk to city was run down and grubby. They are clearing docks and had piles of debris stacked up next to the hotel. The staff were just lovely and very helpfull especially the girls in the kids club. My 4 year old boy had a ball in the kids club he was cooking crispy buns and got his face painted, all the girls even made a fuss of him even at breakfast and remembered his name. We had a family room on 7th floor with a view over the river that was just lovely. My older son raved about how good the wi fi was and meeting some of the munster rugby team at breakfast was a big bonus for him. The food at both the bar and restaurant was lovely we had a really nice few day here thank you to all.

This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Hotel and decor were lovely, Food was great but the most impressive thing in this hotel were by far the staff. Each and everyone of them were helpful and courteous. 2 of them really stood out ( and I never write reviews by the way ) A young girl called Chloe in the bar was so so helpful and gave us great shopping tips and really made us feel welcome and Kate at reception was lovely too. All in all I have to say Limerick gets a really bad rap as it is so much nicer than we expected and the people are so friendly. We will be back!

Excellent hotel - catered extremely for a group of families as a get together - went out of their way to accomodate the kids in the kids room with a big table so that they could eat and watch a DVD whilst the adults sat outside having a civilized meal and drinks. Limerick City only 10 - 15 min walk , nice stroll. Pool was small but perfect for us , breakfast was also lovely . Carpark next store to hotel only €8 for 24 hrs if you pay at hotel reception. Great views of the Shannon at night time. Thank you Clarion - , my family and I will be back and will again book through Lidl Breaks to get the great rate that we got AGAIN !! 2 adults and 3 kids here.

This hotel is in a great location and very close to the city center. The hotel itself was nice and the room was clean and spacious. The staff were lovely and the air conditioning was ideal as the room was very warm. The only negative i would have was with the parking. The staff member who checked us in did give us much information about it. We took the car with us in the evening and when we came back at 11pm the gates were locked. We were just lucky that another person who stays in the appartments above the car park had an access key. It would have been good to know when the car park closed and how we were meant to get back in again. Overall an enjoyable stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Clarion Hotel in Limerick. It's typical of what to expect from a chain hotel, however the staff were very friendly and couteous at all times, the rooms were a good standard and the faciliies are good. We ate in the bar as we didn't want the formality of going to the restaurant and the food and service were first class. The waitress was very helpful with tips for places to go in the evening. Although not in the heart of the city the location is good with lovely views of the river. It's also only a 2-3 minutes walk to Dolan's pub that has a good atmosphere and live music. The only downside to our stay was that we had to pay for parking in the local car park although at a reduced rate it was something that I hadn't seen in any of the promotional documentation.

Stunning hotel in a beautiful location. Bar staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful the food however was a massive let down. On booking I thought we were eating in the kudos restaurant. Iv eaten in kudos in the clarion in cork and a friend of mine is a chef there so was looking forward to the meal. We were changed to the other restaurant where my boyfriend payed a 10eur supplement for a steak which was not cooked to his liking so he sent it back on receiving it again it still looked grey and unappetising. Apart from the food being very poor the rest of the hotel and staff were brilliant.

The Clarion is a lovely hotel with a great view of the shannon and right beside the city, The family room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very nice with a good variety. The pool and jacuzzi also another plus. The staff were extremely friendly with a special mention to the bar/food staff who were excellent with our little two year old who wanted to run riot as we had a bite to eat. They provided a few different distractions for her so that she sat at the table while we ate. The man at check out also very friendly and gave us a 10% discount card for use at any clarion hotel. I Highly recommend this hotel especially if travelling with a young family. If i had one negative it would be the fee for parking but overall this hotel is excellent.

Stay in this hotel over Easter 2013 with my husband and two kids aged 8 and 5. Had a family room which was adequate. We really enjoyed our stay. While I wouldn't rave about the breakfast we had dinner in both the bar and the restuarant and would recommend both. The meals were very tasty. This hotel is very child friendly. The Easter bunny and egg were a lovely touch. Both kids made friends. And the swimming pool was lovely. Overall I would definately recommend this hotel

We had a lovely St Patrick's weekend at the Clarion in Limerick. Our two boys enjoyed the Kids club and my husband and I enjoyed a quiet drink while they were busy painting and playing games. The kids play area is situated at the end of the Lounge and we could see them while they played safely under the supervision of the very capable, friendly staff. The staff are the friendliest I have met in any Hotel, without being over bearing, they are genuinely nice. The only gripe I would have is that there is only Oriental food served in the lounge in the evening, I love Oriental food but not two nights in a row, and as the kids were busy in the kids club we did not want to haul them off to the restaurant. A bit of variety in the evening lounge menu would bring it from 4 to 5 stars. Value for money 10/10

We stayed at the Limerick Clarion Hotel for a weekend break on 1st march 2013. We were very impressed with the hotel. All the staff throughout the hotel are friendly, courteous, and are only too happy to be helpful to the guests. The food is excellent and the bedrooms are neat and comfortable. We were afforded a room on the 14th floor and the view from there was stunning. We must mention that on the weekend that we stayed the weather was dry but very cold....but the bar, restaurants, and bedroom were really lovely and warm, we appreciated that on such a cold weekend. Thanks to all at the Clarion for making our weekend so enjoyable.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Clarion Hotel last Friday night 11th January. It is a very relaxing place - no noise at all as it is away from traffic. The room was spotless with a large t.v I can't praise it enough for comfort and relaxation. We will definately go back there again. Also it was excellent value for money. Phil from Kerry

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Clarion Hotel Limerick. We arrived on Sunday and to my suprise my lovely husband had upgraded us so the room was very spacious and had 2 windows one of which was a big glass bay window which overlooked the Shannon River. I was so peaceful to sit with our coffee's watching the swans and seagulls. The breakfasts are self service and such good quality food. Sunday evening we ate a very nice meal in the Kudos bar and Monday evening we had the New Years Eve gala meal which was amazing. All the stakk were friendly and polite. We had a great time.

My husband, two kids and I stayed for a long weekend in the Clarion. I must say it was a beautiful hotel to stay in and very kiddie friendly. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Family room was fine, could have been a bit more spacious. With two pushchairs and luggage in the bedroom, there was very little room for maneuver. I would also like to mention that having to pay for car parking was a bit of a disappointment as this is a-given with other hotels we have stayed in. In saying all that, we did enjoy our stay and Limerick is a beautiful city. We would return again some day but maybe stay in a larger more spacious room.

Sandra scored 4 / 5 on 31/10/2012

Hotel was neat and service was great. Loved the view of the Quays from the room. Only snag was we werent aware they had no parking but subsidised overnight parking of €8.50 across the road. Overall experience was good...even got complementary late check out till 2pm. Will recommend.

We booked this overnight at the last minute, as we were going to see the Munster vs Edinburgh match at Thomond. As always when we stay at the Clarion, service was great, views fab, close to all locations and we got to see all the lovely rugby boys!

Stayed here for 1 night. We had booked dinner for 8pm but had to wait for half hour as table was not ready. The restaurant was not even busy same night.Service was extremely slow. On checking out we were charged for beverages 28 euro which we did not have. Annoyed about this. Also residents should not have to pay for car park.

The Clarion Hotel, Limerick is rated as a 4 star hotel, but I was disappointed with the cleanllness and finish of the hotel. Bar and riverside balcony were very run down. Stairs areas bady needed to be painted. we were on the 13th floor of the hotel ( where the views were great) but we spent more time waiting for the lift to bring us up and down. Area around the hotel was very run down and I was a little uncomfortable when I went for a evening stroll, and there is no parking provided by the hotel. there was a discounted rate for a near by car park. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was OK. Will I stay there again, No.

Amanda scored 3 / 5 on 14/08/2012

I booked a family room for myself and my 2 daughters. I was a bit dissappointed to get a room with 3 single beds and very little room around them. Would have been fine for 1 night but was a little bit cramped for 2 nights. The staff were lovely and friendly and this includes the very helpful staff in the pool/gym. Paying an extra 17 euro for parking is a bit excessive - guests should have a better discount. This takes away from any saving on getting a good deal on the rooms. I'd still go back - for the staff alone.

Disgusted.went for 2 nights with our 4 year old daughter.it said on website there was a kidsclub but there was no club on.i really dont know how a hotel can get away with that.i think Lidl should check that hotel out.i had two course dinner no starter and it was 45 minutes before i got it and there was only 8 people in the restaurant.i travel alot and have never experienced any thing like that.the staff were very nice. we were in our room for 9.30 because our child was fed up and wanted to go home.she cried because there was no kids club.the whole weekend was ruined. I hope someone will have the decency to contact me and offer me another weekend free with a kids club. yours sincerely mary field. ps.All the Carlton hotels have fabulous kids clubs .

we were thoroughly disappointed with our recent stay in this hotel. the pool facilities were appalling. we choose to stay here over a choice of many other hotels because of the pool but were sorry we booked two nights, if i could have cancelled i would have. The changing rooms were terrible, cramped and dirty. the pool was small and the Jacuzzi was old and poorly made. the location was good and we had a nice view but would definitely not choose to stay again. the rooms were ok, for the price we paid but the housekeeper left the window open all day while we were out so when we returned the rooms was cold. we had to mention to the reception twice about the state of the bathrooms downstairs, which i was very surprised even had to be brought to their attention. the bar staff were the highlight of our stay, they were friendly and very helpful and nice.

apart from a flustered receptionist who was a bit snippy on arrival, everything else was great. Have stayed here a few times and wouldn't let it put me off (she might have been having a bad day!). Rooms were clean with great views, breakfast is always great and there's always plenty. The ony problem I always have staying here is that the car parking ticket is very pricey at €8.50. I think there should be more of a discount for hotel guests.

Found the hotel very cold both in the bedroom and bar areas, I did let reception know. The room for a 4 star was very small, it was a twin room and no room to move around as we were beside the lifts and they were part of our room which made it smaller. Cant believe it's a 5 star hotel to be honest, worst hotel i have stayed at as I have made many bookings via the lidl breaks website. However, the food was excellent.

Stayed at the Clarion Hotel in April 2012 with my daughter and her two friends and had a lovely time.we only stayed for one night, but enjoyed it so much we are returning in May for two nights. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and even though we were on a special offer break of bed breakfast and dinner for only 49 euro, we were very well looked after both at reception and the kudos bar staff. we didn't get a chance to use the leisure center but hope to avail of this next time. Rooms were spotless and big, we had two adjoining rooms and even though we arrived early, one room was made available to us immediately. Stunning views from the bedrooms and also the bar and restaurant, not far from shops, sights etc. The only fault we had was that it RAINED in Limerick for our stay ! no fault of the hotel ! Cant wait to go back again soon..

Myself and my fiancee stayed here last weekend (3rd March). This is a lovely hotel in a great location. We had booked an offer for two people b&b and 1 evening meal. The food in the hotel was beautiful at both the dinner and the breakfast. The service is also very good. Everyone greeting you with a smile. The room was lovely although there was a good bit of evidence of wear and tear especially in the bathroom (Cracked tile and peeling ceiling paint). The room did feel cold even with the air con on warm setting but that is probably because it was such a cold night and next to the water. We stayed in the bar after our meal and the bar men were also very nice and pleasant.

Stayed in the Clarion Limerick for one night DB&B during a rugby weekend. The match kickoff was 7.30 so I asked could we have our dinner at 6.00ish. I was told that the first available reservation for dinner was 7.30 but that we could have food from the bar. After I got my starter in the bar later that eveving a group that was sitting next to us asked the waiter in the bar could they book into the restaurant for dinner. He asked them how many there was in the group and they said nine. He went to the restaurant and came back and told them that they could get a table at 6.10. This was very annoying it is as if the Lidl break people are second class. My wife's main course took fifty minutes to arrive. We could not get the waiter's attention during that time. Eventually another waiter came and asked us were we alright and served us. Bar food was very poor. You would get better in any Oriental takeaway. I was going to complain at checkout but the person that checked me out didn't even ask me "was everything alright sir". P.s. Munster lost

Annette scored 3 / 5 on 16/08/2011

To be honest, the stay was disappointing, starting with the car park fee and the view of the scrap metal yard and the cool receptionist checking in. I have done secret shopper reviews for other hotels and the lack of warmth from one particular receptionist, who also checked us out, left me itching to have the secret shopper forms to fill in. When we arrived in our room there was a musty mouldy smell which my sister mentioned to Robert at reception, very friendly and competent, but when we returned from shopping, the smell was still there. My sister spoke to Robert and the housekeeper called to us. She was really nice and helpful, agreed about the smell, went down to Robert at reception and came back to offer us a 2 bedroom aprtment on the top floor, things were really looking up. The apartment was lovely, with great views, a relief as we had taken my 77 year old mum away for the night and we wanted her to enjoy herself. But the dinner was disappointing, the menu read well, great views out the windows on the water, lively buzz in the place but the food let it down. My sister's medium steak, which she paid a supplement for was really overdone and there was a strange taste off the carrot and ...? mash which put me off my dinner. My mum really enjoyed her salmon, so maybe we had chosen wrongly. I had a very nice creme brulee to take the strange taste from my mouth, but it still lingered there the next morning at beakfast, my stomach shut down at this stage. I cannot fault the waitress staff, they were friendly and helpful, one of them put our wine in the freezer with a bucket of ice to cool it down as it was warm when served and brought us 2 cool glasses from the bar while we were waiting and did not charge us, great service here.We didn't want to say anything about the steak/food as we felt we had complained enough about the room and to be honest, the restaurant staff were lovely and who wants to be seen as the difficult customers..... not many Irish people I know. The hotel has a lot of things going for it, one of them it's staff, but it is not my experience of a 4 star hotel. I have just come back from Hotel Havis in Helsinki, now there's a genuine 4 star hotel, I know I paid a lot more for my stay but even if you avail of special offers you should still expect certain standards. I fear the recession has had its toll on Irish hotels and they are cutting corners to survive, I can hardly blame them but it doesn't mean I have to pretend that all is rosy and sometimes it's the little things that become noticeable, like a triple room with only 2 glasses and 2 cups and one bed missing the decorative throw on the bed, no shower caps for my mum to use. I think all would have went better if we had B&B and went elsewhere for our meal but hindsight is a great thing. Our stay was just ok.

This is a really nice Hotel, from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out staff were both courtious ans extremely friendly and helpful ( makes such a difference ). For the price paid of 98 eueo per couple (2 Couples in party ) for DB&B it was such value for money , Dinner was superb as was Breakfast ! The only one thing I would say is that the Bed which was suppose to be a double was 2 single beds latched together (but this we have found not to unique to this Hotel ) .All in all a very enjoyable stay was had by the 4 of us. I would both highly recommend Lidl Breaks and this Hotel !

Hotel was nice - really good meal included in our package. We were very pleased with the value of the break. Parking cost 8.50 overnight which is very steep considering there is no alternative.

Stayed in the Clarion last weekend and had a lovely time. It is in a great location on the banks of the Shannon. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner in Kudos bar). The room was a good size, and very comfortable, and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. And for %u20AC35 per person B&B per night, you couldn't go wrong.

Tuam17 scored 5 / 5 on 30/11/2010

We found the room to be grubby as in the carpets were stained with what I hope was coffee stains. Not very 4 STAR to say the least... We got room service the first morning and when it arrived it was ice cold not a good start to the wkend. The restaurant was over priced for the meal we got. We ate out in a place called Freddys the following night not too far away from the hotel and they know how to serve a fantastic meal. And its the same price as this hotel. Great views and the staff were fine. We won't be back and I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other hotels to stay in around this hotel...

The hotel is very lovely; however check in was slow - then to be told we had to pay for parking. We were told our meal was for one course only in the kudos bar so we had a little bit of an embarassing chat with staff in the restaurant in relation to the lidl offer, the starter was only ok, main course was really nice. The rooms were extremely warm which was lovely when we arrived but we were stifled during the night! The breakfast was great; lots of choice. On checking out again there was an embarassing chat with reception staff as our bill was not fitting the Lidl Break offer? I felt we had a lot of work to do in this hotel to avail of our offer; but no staff were rude in dealing with us and wouldn't like it to put anyone off staying there.

We were welcomed by a lovely girl at reception. Everything was fine, I wanted to take a shower so my husband deceided to go have a drink in the bar. 15 mins later he was back in the room minus a drink. He was completely ignored at the bar. This is not on!!!!!!!!!!!! We didnt eat there that night so we ended up not having the value for our booking. Very disapointing

I was stay one night in Clarion hotel in Limerick . The staff was nice, food grat, room little to small like for 4 star hotel. If you want to stay in this hotel you have to remember there is no free parking (you must pay around 20euro per day). And the most important in order request don t forget ask about room from east side (if you don t want to have scrab yard view)

We had a one night stay B&B and found it was great value for money. The room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly. Great view over the Shannon river and Limerick city. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the city centre. Will be availing of this offer again.

Lila scored 5 / 5 on 15/09/2010

Overall a very enjoyable experience, friendly staff, lovely room, super breakfast, good facilities and good location. Only downside was the 10 euro charge for the car park. We could have parked on the street for free. It seems unfair to have to pay for the car park to stay at the hotel but would definitely stay again and recommend it to a friend.

Our stay at the Clarion Hotel was really enjoyable. The food was excellent and we were particularly impressed with the breakfast display. The staff were very polite and professional and we would be happy to stay there again. The Lidl breaks are a great concept and we will certainly be availing of them more in the future.

No problem giving this review as we were thrilled with the whole trip weather great lovely city and the Hotel was first rate very relaxed atmosphere staff food and hotel facilities were excellent we stayed for two nights just sorry we didn’t book a third would definitely visit the Clarion again. One little gripe though and that’s about having to pay for car parking.

We stayed at the Clarion for 3 nights, 2 adults & 2 children. Room was very clean and comfortable however it was a bit on the small side. View was great! Had dinner in the bar on arrival which could have been better. Seabass was very small and well overpriced and Thai dish very oily, needless to say we did not eat there a second time. Overall we had a lovely stay! Great location and excellent value for money.

We stayed at the Clarion Limerick for the Aug bank hol weekend and it was great. We have 2 babies and the hotel supllied cots for them with little yellow ducks for each child which was a lovely touch. The famiily room was very big and our 22mnth old could get around it very easily without any dangers in her way. I think we must have had one of the best rooms in the hotel as the views were amazing both from the bedroom and bathroom windows. We were there for 3 nights and had breakfast there each morning which was just fabulous. The children really enjoyed getting their breakfast downstairs and getting to taste lots of different things. I cannot recoomend this hotel highly enough. The only downside was that there are no treatments available at this site for mammy!!!!!!

Overall the hotel was very good. The room was well laid out, the shower was really strong- which I greatly enjoyed. The view was not good as I thought it would be. It was bascially of some sort of rubbish area. One or two points to mention was the length of time it took to check in- I was waiting almost twenty minutes and I we found it hard to get the staffs attention during breakfast. Overall I was quite pleased with it and felt that the staff were very well informed.

well check in took ages then our room was not ready, had to wait 45 mins. we stayed in a deluxe room and its a tight squeeze the way its laid out and the bed was rock hard. the views were excellent, we were on the 8th floor and the view was fab that was the best part. shower was great also very powerfull. brekkie is self serve and the hot choices were limited, sausage, rasher, beand, pudding and scrambled egg. not good 2 mornins in a row. plenty of cereal choice and breads. i would go back but stay in different type room. also the hairdryer was great. lidl breaks was easy to navigate round and easy to fill in booking form.

We enjoyed our stay in the Clarion in Limerick. The staff were - without exception - very friendly and helpful. the accommodation was exactly as expected and was clean. Except for breakfast we did not dine in the hotel. Breakfast was good. My only quibble would be that there was a car parking charge that I was not aware of until our departure. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend the Clarion.

Frances scored 5 / 5 on 04/07/2010

To be quiet honest I was most disappointed with the Leisure facilities, The pool was filthy and the changing rooms are very small. Having travelled with my Grandson I found this to be most disappointing. Having said that I found the rooms clean and OK. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the food otherwise it would be a 2 star. The food in the Bar & Restaurant was very good and the service was excellent. Regards Michael Mulcahy

We had an extremely enjoyable stay. The break was great value and the food was fantastic. There were a large amount of 'hen's in the hotel that weekend, which didn't take from the whole experience. We had a beautiful hotel room with amazing views and would recommend this to anyone. The staff were also very pleasant.

We had stayed at this hotel twice before so we knew what to expect and it didn't disaapoint. The menu in no way reflected that it was a cheap and cheerful break. The only problem we had was that, on check-in, we were told that breakfast was until 11.00 but that applies only on saturdays and sundays, so when we went down for breakfast at 10.15 on easter Bank Holiday Monday, breakfast was finished. some signage at the dining room might be appropriate. They did make us a cooked breakfast but it was an uncomfortable affair, in the empty dining room, while they cleared up around us. One of the reception staff was outstanding, I think his name was Brendan (.....he was the guy with the glasses.) he's one of the best front-of-house people i've ever come across, a very genial host. The room was great and the bed was HUGE! We'll definitely go again.

I was a bit disappointed with this hotel. We arrived on a Monday in June but the restaurant was closed on Mondays which I thought was a bit ridiculous at this time of year. Bar food was very Thai/Chinese style which was o.k. if you like this kind of food but you hadn't much choice if you didn't. The staff in general in the restaurant (when it was open) were pretty lax and seemed more interested in clearing tables and wandering around than attending to their guests. Food was o.k. The hotel had no car parking facilities itself - there was a carpark very convenient to the hotel but you had to pay extra for that. I don't think I would be returning to the Clarion in Limerick again.
