Everything excellent-breakfast and dinner excellent and good value. Music in the bar on the night very enjoyable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free parking and great facilities for all weathers! Rooms very have good facilities. Shower only Room 109. No aircon but a fan is provided on request.

It's a good friendly place to stay. Hygiene, food, service etc is all good. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

Mark scored 3 / 5 on 07/01/2023

My second time staying here. Hotel is in great location 5 minutes from town center and about 15 minutes from bunratty castle. Hotel is clean and comfortable but is dated with the paint, carpets and overall look. The food in the bar is what you would expect for pub food and the buffet breakfast is well stocked with plenty of options. The pool and gym facilities are great and kid friendly. If you are looking for a clean place, with friendly staff and a great location , Tracey west Hotel is perfect ,but don't expect a modern looking hotel.

Donna scored 4 / 5 on 22/11/2022

We really enjoyed our stay here the staff were lovely anything we needed it wasn’t a bother to them. It was very central and the entertainment in the pub on the Friday night was fantastic

Joseph scored 4 / 5 on 14/11/2022

Always like this hotel, while it is not a lively at weekends pre Covid, it is getting there. Rooms are good and comfortable, plenty of supplies and staff very obliging. Food in the bar was very good, and reasonable in price for a hotel. Bar service was good also and friendly bar with customers alike. Ennis town centre is a nice walk in (not too far 15 mins maybe at your leisure) passing Flannans College on your way. This is our third or 4th time staying at Treacys and have booked for Easter 2023 for a longer stay.

Beautiful hotel would highly recommend Staff excellent and friendly no faults will return

Mary scored 3 / 5 on 20/08/2022

My only disappointment that there was road works all night outside the hotel and we werent informed and it was very noisy our room faced the road. It would have been nice to have been told on arrival as we were only there one night. Very difficult to sleep

Mark scored 2 / 5 on 14/08/2022

The carpet in the room was full of stains. The paint on the walls was bubbling and cracking in the main room and bathroom. The handle on the window and door cover is about to fall off. The woman who checked us in added kids breakfast to my bill to witch I said I did not want and she asked me again in shock do I not want kids breakfast included. Not professional at all. The pool and bar are nice but this definitely is not a 4 star hotel. 2 star at best.

Sinead scored 3 / 5 on 01/07/2022

Old style Hotel. Staff are friendly. Bar food was lovely but breakfast was only warm which was disappointing No kids club so that was disappointing however I was told its starts the 1st July. Pool was lovely. Overall it was grand.

Catherine Mc Inerney scored 5 / 5 on 28/06/2022

Found all the staff so warm and friendly and helpful. Food was great and enjoyed our meal in the evening very tasty and reasonably priced. Very happy with everything. We did have a fire alarm goin off a few times with at the beginning was alarming but when we enquired we were told what the cause was so it turned out fine. It seems that a fire door was opened accidentally in the evening by a person who did not understand that it was a fire door. Thank you for your kind hospitality during our stay. Katie

Arrived on Saturday 21st as a treat after sons communion in Miltown that day, all the common areas were very dirty, we stayed in room 344 and got locked out of room 4 times and had to wait 20 mins each time for maintenance to come and let us in, it was very annoying to say the least. The bar area in the evening was so messy and dirty. I understand they were busy and had communion parties that day but staff were walking over dirty napkins and wouldn't pick them up, tables were being half cleared off, no sign of any management or seniority, all young staff. I understand there's a staff crisis at the moment and don't like leaving bad reviews but it was by far the grubbiest hotel I've ever stayed in. All I can say was there was just no standard at all for our entire stay. Very disappointing.

Clodagh scored 4 / 5 on 22/04/2022

Lovely hotel family friendly and staff very helpful .great size pool will be back again.

Kathy scored 3 / 5 on 17/04/2022

Hotel was comfortable and staff friendly. Floor was wet in room due to a leak when we arrived so had to be moved. Hotel needs a paint and steps on stairs missing carpet. It was cheap and perfect for what we paid, but wouldn't recommend.

Thomas scored 3 / 5 on 12/04/2022

Great Hotel for food, entertainment, kids program, kiddies play area, close to the town. One major observation of the hotel is that it feels dated. Dark colours and dark lighting in the restaurant, bedroom and bar areas. They could do with brighter colours. The tiling around the pool area is very dated and the patchwork is very obvious. Overall, has a great stay and would go back again. Staff are pleasant and helpfull.

Elaine scored 3 / 5 on 22/03/2022

It was much too noisy, our room was on ground floor looking on to car park and beside a service/ rear entrance. Cars were parked right up to our window with people coming and going with luggage, and staff with laundry trolleys. It was not an enjoyable experience at all. I do understand it was St. Patricks day and lots of celebrating and joviality going on. There were people banging on doors and arguing and shouting in the hallway at 3am. The bath in our room was peeling paint, and the room was generally dirty with cobwebs and dust in corners. I wasn't going to complain, but Well you asked for a review... I won't be going back and I would not recommend it to a friend. Oh and the mattress had lumpy springs. Bar service was terrible.

Liam scored 5 / 5 on 20/03/2022

This hotel is fabulous and fantastic from the moment I walked in the door ciara the receptionist was so friendly kind upbeat and unaffected and so professional the leisure centre was unbelievable and a stunning leisure centre the breakfast would keep you going for a week ennis Town is really a step back in time can't wait to go back

Denise scored 4 / 5 on 02/01/2022

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and cleaned each day. The staff were absolutely amazing. They gave us tips for a day out we really enjoyed. The facilities were clean and the pool was amazing. The food was really good. On our last night our son became sickly. The manager Jimmy came to our table and asked if our son was OK. Later on that night we needed to test his temperature and once again Jimmy came to our room to test his temperature. He also went out of his way to help. He went to the shop across the road to see if he could find another thermometer for us to keep in the room. He even brought up an antigen test just incase it was covid. They helped us the next day to take our bags to the car while we tended to our children. The staff hands down are absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back again. My son has tonsillitis and is on the mend.

Theresa scored 3 / 5 on 16/11/2021

To Be honest it was very noisy up to 4.30am each night. No signs up to ask Guests to be quiet while walking to their rooms while others are asleep. the pain on the room doors and in some parts of the bedroom are chipped and could do with a coat of paint. Our room whilst small and tidy, had very little natural light coming in as the narrow window was stuck down one corner of the room

Raymond scored 3 / 5 on 13/10/2021

I will return, as I found this hotel well managed, and customer care was excellent, pool facilities were vg, and staff in hotel were courteous and helpful, food was excellent and bar service ex also,, I hope on my next visit the corridor carpets will be replaced as I wouldn't let them get this bad in my own home, and an inside paint makeover would be welcomed by everyone staying at this premises

Fiona scored 3 / 5 on 12/10/2021

Good location. Basic but clean room. Good service. Carpets in hallway were revolting and let the whole place down.

My wife and I have been enjoying the WEST COUNTY HOTEL and its leisure center at least once a year, for longer than I care to think about, now at 83 YEARS. Its very easy to get to ,and away from, on the edge of ENNIS, to all the pleasures of history and scenery that beautiful CLARE has to offer. The STAFF are always so helpful, and the FOOD delicious,IRISH and well presented.I enjoy it so much that NELLIE goes home feeling a new man.

We really enjoyed our stay and ended up staying an extra night. The kids loved the kids club and the pool. We eat in the bar for 2 nights and the food was really good. My only issue is that the hotel could do with a bit of a revamp, it's a little bit dated but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hotel itself was lovely, reception staff very nice, as were all staff we encountered. Bar food was very nice, and there was a good selection for breakfast. Our room was very clean & the kids were delighted with the bunk beds. The swimming pool was great, but changing rooms need a bit of work, they let the leisure facility down. Our big problem with the place was the mini T's kids club, we stayed for a bit with our 2 kids, it was filthy, including toys, there were massive gaps in the floor boards. but worst of all, the two girls just sat at the 'arts & crafts' table talking and didn't interact with the other kids. It was so bad that I had to bring to their attention a poor girl crying in the corner to herself as she wanted her mum, I would hate to think one of mine like that. We did not leave the kids their & did not go back.

Stayed here lately for just one night. I like this hotel. Had lovely bar food, lovely music on the night. Breakfast ok, saw a few flies, thats a turn off for me on account of fruits breads cereals etc being exposed. There was a desperate smell in our bedroom, we didn't know was it mould or coming from the bathroom, we think it was the bathroom, probably drainage problem. Told receptionist in the morning so hopefully that was sorted. Staff nice. Kathleen

Hotel was ok..again we seem to be light years away from hotel reception/bar/restaurant...with 10 & 9 year old it was up and back to the room most of the night to try and have a bit of food and enjoy a few hours in the bar..I must say reception etc were most friendly to the kids when they found the bar a bit loud by times and wanted to sit in lobby on their Nintendo's etc but we did check on them regularly etc....One thing..Ennis town centre very easy to get around...the roundabouts and location of Treacys Hotel IS A NIGHTMARE COMMING FROM TOWN CENTRE!!!...If you stop for directions people say "oh..now there are several ways you can get to it, go back up there, turn right at the round about (big roundabout or small not specified!) head down there and take a right at the shops (which shop??)...and this absolutely drove me MAD over the weekend..we are three years coming to Ennis and in three years I still cannot fathom how anyone (stranger) get around the town of Ennis etc. For good measure, there is a big sign outside Treacys but it HIGH, NARROW and BLACK in colour and kind of is unnoticeable when you are concentrating on the looming roundabouts either side of the hotel. The one sided exit instruction on the exit of the car park is largely ignored, and you are divierted to town if you follow the sign instructions. I heard there were water work repairs going on around Ennis over the May bankholiday weekend, hence the detour notices for Treacys as if it wasn't hard enough to find, some of the signs for Treacys had the real fancy print on them and in joined up writing and only for my wife beside me I couldn't (you don't get the time on the roundabouts) to be reading fancy joined up writing...I vowed leaving Ennis on Monday evening, again, trying to find the Gort Road, was like "Ok, you have come to far, go back towards town centre, straight through this roundabout (big or small?) keep left at the lights only to find there is a fork in the road when you take the left and you say "which left"....anyway..I think I will go elsewhere next time...maybe town centre hotel or something...Treacys is grand if you know where your going...somepeople it doesn't bother, but many staying over the weekend agreed with my views on the Hotel signage, and difficulty finding the hotel in general. Regards and thanks. Joe Finnegan

Spent night there recently in a party of 6 on bed and breakfast basis. It was our third visit to this hotel and we would go there again. All occasions were family gatherings. Very comfortable, convenient to town, staff very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was buffet style serving everything you could think of. Could not fault anything.

Stayed here on a Friday for one nite. Arrived at 3 to check in had to wait over half an hour to check into the room. Breakfast was nice. Self service. Room was clean and warm. Did not sleep hotel was noisy. We were located at the front on the ground floor. No thermal suite as advertised on the website. Jacuzzi was not very warm. If stayin would recommend to request a room upstairs. Location is ideal just outside centre.

I'd rate this hotel excellent, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the breakfast is excellent and the overall atmosphere is very good. It's conveniently located less than you a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. My only concern is the bar food, The food in the buffet needs to be improved upon although it offers excellent value for money.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's great for going to visit many of the tourist spots. All of the staff bar the waiter we had for dinner were lovely. The hotel is very old and badly needs an update. The room is okay. Bed was good but bath/shower was rubbish. I wouldn't waste my time getting the dinner package. The food was terrible. Menu choice is extremely poor and all of our food was cold and tasteless. The whole dining experience was made worse by a cocky, rude and useless waiter.there was 4 tables in the restaurant upon arrival and he sat us at a tiny (uncleaned) table by itself in the corner beside the kitchen. Myself and my husband were both given different menus. I pointed this out and he took the wrong one away but never brought back another. While placing our oder he kept interupting us and of course our food came out wrong. We weren't offered drinks, he just walked off and I had to call another girl and ask her . I asked him for an ice bucket and he came back with a glass of ice. We couldn't complain about the food because we never received a checkbook and the waiter disappeared. Dessert was just as bad. Eaton mess was frozen berries and coulis. Couldn't eat it either so we left hungry and really dissapointed. Leisure center was nice

Really enjoyed our wknd in Treacys West County Hotel. Hotel was clean & warm. Our room was clean & comfortable although the handle on the toilet broke on the first night & I felt the lady we reported it to the following morning was rude enough!!! She didn't apologise & say she'd get it fixed instead she made us feel as if we had deliberately broken it. I was disappointed that the staff didn't give any little extra treat to my husband & myself..... even a free drink as I had made it known discreetly that it was his 50th birthday during our wknd there!! Otherwise the food was lovely & the staff were friendly apart from that one lady who was over the accommodation assistants from what we could make out.

Lovely family friendly hotel. The staff were very friendly & professional about their job.Food was off very high standard.Rooms were very clean and airy.Leisure centre was great.Only thing I found was that there was a terrible smell of damp on the stair cases.over all it was a pleasure to stay.

Kevin scored 4 / 5 on 05/08/2015

The one thing that makes this hotel stand out is the quality of its staff. They are top class and I cannot fault them. The hotel itself is what I would call "well worn". It really does need some work done. There is a damp smell in the hotel and there is a lot of wear and tear evident. The bar food is very good and we also used the leisure centre which was good also. Plenty of families there and the hotel was packed for the weekend we stayed there (August Bank Holiday 2015). Would I go back? YES.

The room was fine, although the bath wasn't the cleanest, the tv only worked occasionally but luckily we weren't in the room a lot for it to bother us. The hotel needs serious updating, the ceilings in places were worn and in the bar there was a leak from the floor above hitting the table with a bucket on it, the food is sub standard and I wish i didn't go for the inclusive breakfast and meal because I ended up having to pay to eat out in Ennis which was annoying.

Ceppiek scored 4 / 5 on 08/05/2015

Stayed for 2 nights, room was functional and the hotel provided for the 3rd child, breakfast was a treat and we had loads helping ourselves (you can't let us out)staff most helpful and on hand to help and provide assistance at all times, leisure centre/swimming pool enjoyed by all,bar a bit too busy for my liking ,we wanted to get bar food but there was nowhere to sit five in one spot (the joys of a bank holiday w/e),the evening meal was good but for ten euro a head for children a bit pricey when you're on a budget.Overall a very enjoyable stay...we'll be back (THANK YOU)

The hotel was dirty and in need of some repair. I will not be revisiting. The bathroom was dirty and the décor generally looked tarnished, There was a leak in the lobby on arrival, the carpets throughout were stained, the lighting in the rear car park was non existent, there was bad odour in the corridors, the food in the bar was poor and there was sandbags resting against the glass doors to stop leaks - not a good first impression. The only positive comment is that the breakfast was lovely!!!!!!

Bernadette scored 5 / 5 on 14/01/2015

Treacys West County Hotel was excellent. The staff were very helpful. We really enjoyed the spa facilities. The food was delicious and there was a real buzz in the bar. I have nothing but good to say about the hotel and look forward to staying again. In fact I have recommended the hotel to my daughter and her friends and they have already booked it.

We stayed at Treacys west County for two nights with our two children. The pool and facilities are perfect fpr children, lovely babies pool and the staff were lovely and very good with the children. The staff through out the hotel really made the holiday for us. The hotel itself is very dated and in need of updating in a lot of areas, which is why I am giving it 4 out of 5, but the food is delicious and staff really go out of their way for you . My only complaint is the menu doesnt seem to change from day to day except for the roast of the day, but then when it is so delic maybe custoemrs don't want it to change!

some staff were really friendly, however this was not the universal experience - some of them were really really unfriendly. Overall feeling at this hotel was that of poor customer service - this applies to the bar, breakfast area and swilmming pool staff. Room was really dated too, but I could put up with that without any problem if the staff were friendly.

The bath was very dirty. The food in the bar was not great. I ordered a club sandwich & it looked like it was thrown together by a 3 year old. Bacon was burnt & bread was soggy. The jaccuzi was really stained yellow around the water mark.

Stayed with my family (2 kids aged 7&9) in a family room for 1 night. We enjoyed our stay. Family room spacious and real beds for kids (no sofa bed). The breakfast was very good, one order made upon request in kitchen. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We did not have dinner in restaurant, we chose to go into Ennis. Our main attraction was the swimming pool which we used twice. It's very large, and the temperature of the water and air in pool were very pleasant (which we usually do not find elsewhere), so we had no problem spending over 1.5 hours in the pool per session.

Stayed at the West County on a one night break. If you're looking for good old fashioned Clare hospitality then this is the place to go. Service was excellent and very friendly. Unfortunately the bar was being renovated during our stay but it was still fine. The Cafe offers excellent value with a good dinner starting from €6.95 and frienldy chef. Service in the resturaunt at night was excellent despite our party taking advantage of the latest booking possible. Rooms are a decent 3 star and the hotel is about a 15 minute walk into Ennis town.

very shabby interior, staff were helpful apart from the manager who I had to complain to following a night of no sleep caused by people standing outside the hotel doors until the early hours, I would expect any decent hotel to have a smoking section away from the hotel rooms. He gave me a tiny reduction on the cost of my room, will not be going back

Basic hotel in need of a makeover - old fashioned and worn. The staff on reception were really helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable but noisy at night with all the comings and goings plus I could hear water constantly swishing around the huge water tank outside the window. The food in the restaurant was nice but there's no atmosphere. I also noticed a lot of flies which wasn't very pleasant when eating. The staff in the restaurant were very nice and attentive. Didn't enjoy the bar at all, lacking atmosphere. The first night we bought a bottle of white wine but the young barman told me he couldn't give us a wine cooler. He went and checked with his supervisor but said he wasn't allowed and offered me a pint glass of ice. Eventually got a wine cooler after we queried it further with another staff member who said they thought we wanted to bring it up to the room. We were clearly sitting right beside the bar and were not asked if it was for the room when we ordered it. We tried to eat in the bar on the second night, ordered the food and then the waitress came back and told us the 2 courses included in the deal were capped at a value of €15 in the bar but we could pay extra if we liked. We were not told this when we checked in and asked where we could eat on the deal. We asked if we could order off the restaurant menu in the bar as we hadn't made a reservation in the restaurant but that wasn't allowed either. We were told we could order the bar food in the restaurant if we moved in there. A man who we think was the owner passed and inquired how our stay was but when we told him he got distracted by a match on the TV and that was the end of that. So we just moved into the restaurant to eat later than planned. The food at breakfast was nice, good selection but badly organised. It was self service but had no trays so had to make a few trips to get everything to the table. There were no little milk jugs to bring to the table. I thought the lady who managed the breakfast room was very snappy and abrupt to the other staff and it made breakfast a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the hotel was clean, most of the staff were lovely and it's close to the town but it is very basic. Unfortunately, I would not go back and couldn't recommend it to friends.

A very average hotel. The staff are nice. The rooms are fine, but very noisy at night, we were a family with a small child and the stag/hen parties kept us awake. The food in the hotel is distinctly average, we ate in both the coffee shop and the carvery. Nothing spectacular, very basic fare. Breakfast was the same, all self service with no frills!!..The pool changing room was filthy and very slippery. We met the owner of the hotel who is a very lovely man and hands on, but if you want some where cheap to stay with no frills.. then west county is the one. Its near Ennis - 10 mins walk. It s a very very busy hotel, which I guess is a good sign.. but would I return.... probabely not!!

I would highly recommend the west county hotel. Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in a standard double room which was perfect for us. Everything you would need. We had sandwiches in the bar which were very nice. Again, very friendly staff. They also took the time to tell us about local entertainment etc on that weekend. The leisure facilities were perfect. Unfortunately I only got to use them once which was on the day of check out and they had everything you would need. I found myself annoyed that I hadn't used them more during the time we were there. Again I would highly recommend the West County hotel and hope to get back soon Regards Glen Synnott

We stayed in the West County over the May bank-holiday. The hotel is a bit dated and a little grubby in parts but the room was fine, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the music on the Saturday night. The bar food was good and overall it was good value and we enjoyed our stay.

I only enjoyed my stay in the Hotel because the staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in was great, breakfast was nice but the one night we ate in was horrible as the food tasted like it was a microwave meal. When we got to our room we found lip marks on the glasses in the bathroom and curly dark hairs on our towels. Aside from this and the smell of paint, out of order lifts (for three days) Clare is a beautiful county but I would not stay in this Hotel again.

I was not very happy with my stay in Wext County Hotel Ennis, the rooms were below standard had damp fungus patches on the ceiling, flackey baths and im appalled to say that i had got into a urine soaked bed on the first night of my four day stay. My daughter who was on holiday with me had a asthma attach because of the damp room and the fungus on the ceiling. What more can i say only that it ruined our holiday. My daughter had 3 room changes and i had 3 also. I have to say that i will never stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Marian from Wexford

just back from a few days in the west county hotel. Family of four oldest child 9, youngest 5. Got a great deal on the 3 nights, found the hotel to be great for the price, the only issue we had was with the klown around kids club, we had to pay 10 euro per child and for that the didn't seem to do much apart from colour and make silly braceletts, girls ones at that and my kids are boys. The only other thing available for them to do was play the playstation and the was a bouncy castle deflated on the floor the day my 2 went. The club ran from 4-7pm and we took ours out after an hour as they were just sitting colouring, they asked if the bouncy castle could be inflated and they were told later. so we didn't hang around, unfortunatly the boys didn't want to go back the next day, so we asked for a refund as they only spent an hour in the club, the recieptionist gave us vouchers for the kids breakfasts to the value. I thought that was fair enough. Over all that was the only glitch we had with the hotel. On our last night we sat in the bar after eating and we were having drinks, our kids were with us, bearing in mind this is a family hotel, a couple came in and i'd say they were in their late 60's they didn't seem to like the kids sitting with their parents at all, we had to endure them staring at us each time my 5 year old laughed, looking at their watches and giving out to eachother getting very agitated. my kids were not misbehaving in any way, but they seemed to have had major issues. My thoughts were, they should have stayed in a morgue if they didn't want to be in the same room as familys!!!! they made us feel very uncomfortable, and i felt like they thought we did this all the time. the only time we bring our kids to the pub is on hols, and we were been looked down upon for it. These people should really stay at home and watch the tv.....other than that i can say that i would go back to the west county hotel, for the price it was spot on...!!!!

The pictures of the hotel don,t show the true state of the hotel, it is quite rundown and when we went to the room we found it to be quite bare and oldfashioned but the worst part was the strong smell of cigarettes in the room and we had to spray the curtains and bedclothes to try to remove this smell. The toilet was also broken as was the lock on the bathroom door. The breakfast in the morning was not very apetising either. The bar was quite nice and the hotel is well located near to the city on the plus side.

We enjoyed our stay in the West County but overall it could of been better. The kids club was fantastic and my 5 year old was devasted when we were leaving. We stayed for 3 nights so she made lots of friends and the leaders were great. On the downside the service was very poor whether in the restuarant or bar. Noone seemed to know what they were doing. It was my 30th birthday on the Thurday night and my husband had booked the restuarant through reception for that night. When we got there noone knew anything about the booking and they just seemed to shrug there shoulders as if to say what to do you want me to do? Thank god the hotel wasnt full and we were able to get a table in the end but the lack of organisation was clear for everyone to see. I wouldnt go back to the west county but have some good memories of our short there.

What makes the West County Hotel is the staff. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and could not do enough to make our stay a pleasant experience. Our room was comfortable. However it could do with a lick of paint. The whole hotel could probably do with renovation. A home from home for those wishing to take a break in the Ennis area. I strongly recommend it.

Family room very small. There was no heating on in the Hotel (October '11), room and lobby/restaurant freezing cold, told it would be on at 6pm. Ordered room service for breakfast, when it was delivered, it was freezing cold, I advised the receptionist of same and she was delighted that I'd let her know. The food all round was absolutely delicious, no fault there.

We were treated the same as if we had paid the full rate for our stay, all staff was very talkative and very approchable and could not be any more helpful as they were. My friend and I stayed in the West County for 3 nights in July 2011 and were really happy with the standard of the facilities and the friendliness of the staff. We used Ennis as a base for travelling around Clare and it's a great location for that. There's a great choice in terms of food within the hotel itself, and breakfast was really good (but get down early!). The leisure centre is great, after 6pm is best: quiet and child-free! They put a daily info bulletin under your door every day with weather forecasts, menus etc, really useful. And a member of staff is on hand specifically to help you plan your day, we really liked that. Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Eoin scored 1 / 5 on 26/07/2011

While the hotel itself was convenient and the staff were very polite I would not reccomend this hotel to anybody. Firstly our 3 year old ended up with no dinner because of the chefs mistake, the wrong dish was sent out and being a child she would not eat it, it would have taken too long to replace the meal (we were told). On the night we stayed there was a 'Dancing Competition' taking place. The noise that went on through the night in the hallway outside our room was a disgrace, we rang reception on 3 different occasions to ask that they try and sort it out but it continued on until 7 a.m. To be quite honest I could not wait to get out of the hotel and would never intend on returning. I did complain when we were checking out and the receptionist did apologise but I really do not feel that it was enough considering we could not even get a decent nights sleep. Thankfully it did not ruin our entire week spent in the South of Ireland as the other hotel we stayed in was exceptional to say the least, just as a hotel should be.

Room good, breakfast good; one meal in Boru's Bar not quite as described on the menu and disappointing.

On arrival the lady at reception was very welcoming. The bedroom was ok, in need of a touch up , rusty radiator , carpet looked like it had seen better days , the bathroom could do with a good make over in general. Apart from that if you are looking for a basic hotel and value for money this is a grand hotel

I booked a room for my father (an OAP happy with a single bed) and it cost him 64 euro's (coz he was on his own, we couldn't book through Lidl as the prices are PPS). I just thought it was a bit ridiculous that we were 39 euros each, and the OAP was 64! However, our stay at the hotel was great - I couldn't fault it at all. The only drawback was the rowdies that stumbled to their rooms between 3 and 6am shouting at the tops of their voices. (There was a wedding on). I can't blame the hotel for them, though!!

Just to let you know on arrival staff at reception were fab very accomadating as there was a mix up with my booking. All staff in hotel were lovely and friendly. Bedrooms were ok, bathrooms would do with a good make over and towels looked old and haggard. In the main bar it was ok but there was some smell near the toilets i thought at first it was the seat i was sitting on as i could smell urine but it so happened it was coming from the mens toilet they could do with a few air freshners and the ladies there was an old musty and cold smell in them. ok but would not be in a hurry to recommend this hotel

We found this hotel was perfect for the type of break we wanted. It was excellent value for money as we got the package that included an evening meal. The only downfall was the retaurant didnt accept bookings and when we went down for dinner it was completly full (mainly of people attending the Saw Doctors gig )and everyone was waiting outside in a busy walkway. There was absolutley no system in place. We waited 40mins and i went back in and explained my children couldnt wait anylonger as it was so late. The lady in charge when hearing we were residents went out of her way to accomadate us and we went on to enjoy our meal. I would definatley return but not with my family when a gig is on.

Myself and my Husband stayed at The West County for my Birthday in December...We booked it through Lidl and I have to say that it was great value and we had a very comfortable stay..The food was lovely and well priced, the staff were friendly, the rooms were really warm and the beds very comfy..The only downside for me was the wait to be seated for dinner, but in the Hotels defence it was and very busy evening due to The Saw Doctors playing that night.

We had a wonderful time staying in The West County, it was excellent value for money, situated in a great location. The hotel was extremely busy but was kept very clean and the staff were lovely very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They were able to recommend things to do places to see and which was the best route to take. The room was spotless and cleaned everyday. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

I can say that the staff are very friendly and very approachable. The hotel was very clean the rooms were very comfortable. The pools and the jacuzzi were brillant. The food was of a very high standard and the pub food was great value a meal and a pint for %u20AC9.95. the only thing about the stay was that Ennis is a very small town so you have to travel to find places to spend the day

I was disappointed in my stay. The room was sufficiently clean, but was in need of renovation. The walls were thin and there were loud guests and children traveling the hallways and slamming doors until early in the morning. In order to get to our room, my family had to walk through the corridor of smoking rooms and the smell of smoke was overwhelming and nauseating. We were disappointed that the swimming pool closed at the early hour of 7 pm for children. It would have been nice after a long drive in the car to be able to enjoy the pool. As stated before, the room seemed sufficiently clean. The requested travel cot was already set up, and the breakfast vouchers included in the Lidl break was nice. All in all, there is no way that I would pay full price to stay at this hotel. The Lidl price makes the experience easier to swallow, but it was still a disappointment.

We booked this hotel because we thought it would be a good base to stay for exploring Clare. We stayed the bank holiday weekend and whilst I appreciate it was full to capacity the overall impression of the hotel was that they are very short of staff. We went into the bar on the first night for food and could not find a clean table they all had other diners food that had since left but the staff were obviously too busy to clear up. We had to go in search of somebody to take an order from us. Pretty much the same story for breakfast the next morning, queues down the corridor while staff ran around trying to clear tables. In and around the reception area is probably the best part of the hotel. Rooms were basic, a little too old fashioned but clean. Leisure centre appeared clean and well equipped.

I had a wonderful time. The hotel was very busy with guests of all ages and nationalities but that did not affect the service or attitude of the staff. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They also had knowledge of the local area and even had a dedicated staff member who dealt with tips, organisation of tours, recommending things to do and places to see. The room was spotless and maintained to a high standard ( I stayed for 3 nights). The food was plentiful and well priced with a large selection to choose from. The location of the hotel meant that I could walk into Ennis town in a few minutes. I hope Lidl keep doing these breaks and have passed on their website address to many friends, some of whom have already booked and are delighted with the prices offered.

This was excellent value for the four night stay, the kids were free we just paid for their breakfasts, the breakfast was really nice, the family room was small but perfect for putting the head down which is all you need. Ennis is an excellent base for exploring Clare & West County is extremely family friendly and good value. However the leisure centre is far from family friendly, the kids have to be out of the pool by 6pm....and when I say out of the pool by 6pm I mean hoarded out by less than friendly staff which is such a pity because the facilities are excellent. Would recommend the hotel and value for money on lidl website.

Great value for money. Hotel is clean. Food was lovely. Staff are very friendly. Only thing I would fault is that there is not much entertainment at night for kids or adults. If you wanted entertainment, you had to drive down the road to the Clare Inn.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel is quite basic but the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is very good and there is a good atmosphere in the bar. It is a good long walk into Ennis centre about 15/20 mins with children.

The West County was really a surprise. Not that the standard was better than just basic but it really exceeded my greatest expectations. The ambience was the first feeling to strike us and was very welcoming. The staff were very helpful and were ready to assist on every request. Food was first class. Breakfast was self service while dinner was served in the evening. It was tasty with plenty to eat. We were shown to our individual table. The room was well prepared and clean. We were facing our of the rear of the hotel onto the car park where we could park and have visual of our car and still have rear access to the hotel. The whole experience was so pleasant and I look forward to taking advantage of the offer again. Many thanks. William Lowery
