The Heritage town of Cahir has lots to offer… the famous “Cahir Castle†is 50 metres from the hotel entrance and found on the river suir which is world famous for fly fishing. The beautiful Swiss Cottage is 2km from the hotel and can be reached by a very impressive and picturesque walk at the rear of the hotel. There is an 18 hole golf course 3 minutes from the hotel and 7 more courses within a 40 minute drive. The hotel is surrounded by 3 different mountain ranges ( Galtee, Knockmealdowns, Commeraghs) which provide great walks for hill walking enthusiasts.
Lovely central hotel, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, lots of choices, unfortunately there was a live band in the ballroom and it kept us awake, but nonetheless we had a most enjoyable stay, visiting the nearby castle and Swiss cottage
Had a lovely stay. Celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Had the reception in Cahir house hotel. Lovely staff and lovely food. I would recommend this hotel.
Very Kind friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Lovely room with bath and very comfortable bed. Great location in centre of town beside beautiful Castle & amenity car park. We have stayed in the Cahir House Hotel annually for the past 15 years for leisure trip down south. We would highly recommend & will return again soon. Thanks again to the staff for being so welcoming.
Fantastic hotel comfortable beds great food great entertainment fabulous staff. This hotel is a Gem in irelands Golden Vale. I would recommend it highly in this heritage town with the Cahir Castle and beautiful walks fab location!!!
The staff were absolutely brilliant. Some of the nicest I have met on my travels. Extremely helpful and chatty. We had a really good time at the hotel. I would recommend a stay to anyone. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area too.
Lovely hotel very friendly staff and food and service was excellent also great location the hotel doesn't have a lift may not be suitable for someone with mobility issues
Beautiful little town perfect for the castle and walks etc the hotel itself is lovely. Staff very friendly very busy place as locals etc use the bar pretty noisy but depends what u like. Would visit again. No lift so not recommended if u have walking problems. Room was lovely n cosy couldn’t complain about anything! good food breakfast freshly cooked which is a bonus
Very enjoyable stay in a very well ran hotel with excellent rooms and 5* food
Fabulous enjoyable stay, really enjoyed all what Cahir Town has to offer. Dinner / Breakfast were beautifully prepared and presented, with a wide varied choice to choose from. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to family / friend's, and will be returning in the not too distant future.
The most welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. Quality room, quality food. Fantastic friendly staff. Great prices. I will be staying there again
Very enjoyable experience, from the food, staff and cleanliness of the hotel. The live music in the bar was a pleasant surprise, not so common any more. Top spot.
Room grand and food fantastic. Staff lovely and very helpful
Stayed 3 nights excellent food and the staff were very friendly
Fantastic hotel and food
Staff fantastic , food excellent, beds just too soft for my liking . Overall very enjoyable.
Had asked for room on first floor as I had both knees replaced recentley and my friend has back issues. We had been put on third floor so were very uncomfortable climbing stairs. No lift in this hotel, badly needed. Couldn't fault the cleanliness of hotel and room spacious and comfortable. TV a bit small. The food was excellent (highly recommended). The staff were lovely and so helpful, couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was so generous. My only complaint was, no lift. Enjoyed the stay otherwise.
Just one complaint, there is no lift for elderly people
Lovely hotel close to the village. Love the walk from the hotel to the Swiss Cottage. As always we had a great stay Cahir House

Great hotel, delicious food, and lovely staff.
It was good, but if anyone is a wheelchair user or has to use a walker, etc., there is no lift to the bedrooms and the toilets including the special needs toilet are down steps from the reception area .
Staff were lovely. Breakfast was top quality. And rooms were excellent
While this was an older hotel, it was spotless! The food was beautiful and as for the staff- they were second to none especially the receptionists Pauline and Catherine, who were warm and friendly. I can't recommend it enough. We'll be visiting again!
Beautiful hotel and fantastic place beautiful walk's along the castle and river.Food and room excellent value for money. Will definitely be back there again.

Lovely old-style hotel on the main town square. Great breakfast and main meal. Nice friendly staff. Bar has a good atmosphere and live music. Easy parking. Big rooms.
Super friendly staff, Great food, well worn spotlessly clean &very comfortable hotel.
The hotel is in an ideal location in the Square in Cahir. Staff were very cheerful & most obliging. Even though it is an old hotel & some parts might need a bit of updating we found it to be spotless. The food was very good too & there were great choices on the breakfast menu. Overall we were very happy with everything including the price.
Great food great food and staff where so friendly. Great music in the bar in the evening. But bedrooms and bar could do with updating.
Great staff, very accomodating, brilliant location, small quiet village very pretty
Good location; helpful and friendly staff; good food ; nice atmosphere ; clean and hygienic One staff member on the Saturday night went out of her way to ensure I could get access to a phone charger

Nice and clean nice food very central.
Nice hotel, very noisy until well into the early hours, but to be fair it was saint Patrick's day, nice food, clean rooms, Friendly staff but close to 4am with noise of people leaving in taxis etc
Excellent all around :)
Cahir House was just lovely. The staff were so friendly, especially the older gentleman in the bar, fabulous hospitality, and the receptionist when we arrived Friday and the lady Saturday morning, both were just so friendly and helpful. As for the food, OMG the food on Friday evening was just fab, big big portions and just delicious. The breakfast Saturday was lovely just the right amount on the plate and the manager was all around checking everything and everyone was ok. I cannot fault this hotel, we got a fabulous deal on hotelsinone, and everything was lovely. Also Cahir is a lovely scenic little town so beautiful.
We had a lovely stay and the staff are very nice.. Definitely recommend hotel.. We'll be back.. Wishing you all the success Robert, in 2022.
Lovely room, friendly staff, value for money and a nice area.
8 of us stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms spacious with very comfortable beds. Walk-in shower. Very clean and it looks recently decorated. Had dinner in the bar both evenings and everyone was happy with their food. Lovely breakfast with lots of choices. Staff were extremely efficient and friendly. Music in the bar on Saturday night was an added bonus. Lots of parking at back of hotel. Hotel is situated in the middle of the town within walking distance of the Castle, Abbey, walks on the Suir river and the Swiss Cottage. Will definitely be back.
Excellent room . Very good food . Great service . Location very good
What a little gem of a hotel. The room was plush and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in. The food was beyond expectation so I recommend eating in. We loved our one night stay here and would do so again in a heartbeat.
Everything was perfect
We found Cahir House Hotel very good. The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and plentiful(great value) location brilliant. The only little problem was the fifty steps to get to our room but overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Well done to all at Cahir House Hotel Pat

Lovely Hotel, Staff are friendly and Welcoming. Cahir is a Beautiful historic little Town and is so central to so many Scenic walks & hikes. Its also a short drive to a number of surrounding larger towns, which gives you the best of both worlds

Lovely 2 x DBB break in this pleasant if somewhat old-fashioned hotel, having stayed previously about 3 years ago. Food was excellent and great value and service as good as you could hope for. No room service which is understandable because of Covid but we were not informed/reminded and had to request change of towels. We would return anytime.
Enjoyed our Stay. Very old fashioned style no lifts & dissapointed as a guest staying for 2 nights we could not get a drink during the day in the beer garden unless we were eating, even though we were not ready to eat...???????? ended up going to local supermarket & buying beer, so we sat at the riverside for the afternoon in the Sun, which turned out to be more enjoyable than sitting in the hotel beer garden & a lot Cheaper too. Cheers ????
Floors marked for social distancing Hand sanitizer available to guests & staff We were really delighted with all the food and drink we enjoyed during our stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Accommodation very reasonable, we will be back again soon.
Had a great 2 night stay here recently with family. Great location right in the middle of the town and the staff were excellent, particularly the lady at reception who couldn’t do enough for us and was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Cahir had some old world charm. Staff were so welcoming and efficient. The food was excellent, and the rom was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed a very pleasent stay at the Cahir House Hotel.
STAYED IN THIS HOTEL OVER THE MAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND IT WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE STAY STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE LOVELY ATMOSPHERE IN THE BAR FOOD WAS LOVELY WOULD DEFINITLEY STAY IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN
We stayed two nights b/b and one dinner, we enjoyed our stay the food was good, the staff were very friendly, the music in the bar on Friday night was was excellent not loud you hold a conversation or dance great.
I loved this hotel in the centre of the town. Staff were lovely and welcoming, and could nt do enough for us. The hotel is very comfortable and our room was great quiet, and well equipped. lovely town castle 400 yards away and a lovely walk in the memorial park. Will go back so relaxing, and prices reasonable food beautiful, well worth a visit. Mark and Carol
As previous reviews stated, décor in bedrooms is in dire need of updating, but rooms were fine other wise, maybe not quite adequately heated. Very homely feel in general and all staff were friendly and welcoming. Evening meal and breakfast were 4 star and it was lovely to receive complimentary admissions at reception to Cahir Castle which is really such a beautiful place to visit. I would recommend it and would go back. November 2016
One night stay on a Saturday night - family of four. Had dinner that evening, food was good except somebody seems to like mayonaise as both my starter and my son's main had a lot of it! Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Room was good size for four but soundproofing between the rooms is an issue - you can easily hear voices from the adjoining room.
Lovely staff very friendly, couldn't do enough for you. Nice old cosy irish country style bar & hotel. Good food & drink, excellent variety. Very well situated in the middle of the square in Cahir. Bad points but (not many). Irish breakfast not great (fatty bacon not nice) I would search another supplier for bacon, black & white pudding. Décor could with some attention dated, especially bathroom facility (shampoo dispensers etc) On the whole lovely hotel. Lovely friendly crowd of local people I must say. Dublin business man.
Our stay in the hotel was a very positive experience. The breakfast was excellent. Staff were excellent. The only criticism I would have is that the bedrooms could do with makeover, they were pretty outdated. There is a very homely Atmosphere.
Hotel is lovely staff are so nice
Brilliant hotel lovely room lovely staff especially the bar man / waiter. Even when he was off duty my husband went for a glass of wine for me and didn't know what he wanted. Immediately the bar man who had served us earlier told the bar man who had replaced him what my wine was. The food was great .They were especially welcoming to my eleven year old son. The receptionist and house keeper upstairs were most helpful also. We stayed during ploughing which was a very busy time for the hotel. Couldn't give this lovely hotel enough praise
Myself and my husband stayed at the hotel for our wedding anniversary on the 5th September. Although the food was really nice and I could not fault the staff our room was awful! We did not get a wink of sleep with a constant noise all night long which sounded like the engine of a plane!! I called reception and told them and the receptionist said she would call me back but never did so I called again after a few hours and I was answered by the bar man and he said he would pass on my message to reception but obviously never did as I still got no call back so we just lay awake all night!! Besides the noise in the room everytime someone walked passes our door we could hear the floor boards squeaking so unfortunately all in all our stay was ruined by this.
I must say my stay in Cahir House Hotel was excellent , the staff were courteous and helpful. I will stay there again.
One night stay, we enjoyed a lovely evening meal and the breakfast was excellent. A very warm welcome from the reception to the catering staff. We certainly will look forward to returning sometime in the future.
Very Nice Hotel,Parked upon arrival to rear of hotel and had a little difficulty finding way to reception as no signage at all. Lovely quaint old style Hotel,we ate on the Lidl Breaks menu and very pleased with selection. Portion sizes are more than adequate and could not manage desert in spite of some lovely choices. All staff we encountered were friendly chatty and polite, we had two drinks in the lovely bar and pleasantly surprised at prices. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and more than adequate. This is not a sleek modern shiny hotel but is a charming country hotel, good food, friendly staff, great location.A little bit old fashioned but for me that was part of the charm and if you want an impersonal modern chain hotel they are easy to find. This type of Hotel is a lot more scarce.
very friendly staff. beautiful bedroom, excellent breakfast and very good quality dinner menu, though the restaurant décor needs to be improved. Eugene Dublin
Nice hotel, helpful staff, clean and quiet room, good food and lots of it. Ideal location right in the centre of town. Wifi only available free in the bar and not a great signal, but we had come on holidays to get away so not a big deal for us.
staff couldn't have been nicer. very friendly and chatty. lovely quiet room and the food was gorgeous. would recommend it and I hope to stay there again
Stayed there last weekend. Hotel and our rooms were spotless . Staff lovely and friendly as were the locals. We had dinner the Friday night in the hotel. Which was very good, a bit surprised well done chef. The hotel could be updated bedrooms paint and curtains, Corridors a lick of paint only one major fault no lift, problem for disabled and elderly other then that I would recommend and hopefully will be back
stayed 2 nights everything was very good will be back to stay again
Excellent hotel with great staff and amazing food. We had a 2 night package with dinner bed and breakfast. Very reasonably priced and a great location. We will definitely be back :-)
the dinner and the breakfast were very good, the staff were A1, me and my wife enjoyed our stay.
Vary pleasant country town hotel - our only criticism was not finding the dining room open on a Thursday night and having to eat in the bar. But we know this now and will stay over again. Anne Jordan
Lovely and helpful staff. at reception the dining area and the bar. Would recomend anyone to stay.
Only stayed one night on the 2 course dinner and b&b deal. The food was by far the best part of the stay!! There was a good choice on the menu for dinner and the breakfast was the nicest I've had in years in a hotel ;-) Very friendly staff. Rooms were basic but clean .. I wouldn't run back for a romantic break but for a girlie night out it was perfect :-)
Four of us spent a recent Saturday night in Cahir House courtesy of an offer on Lidl Breaks. I'd have to say the hotel staff couldn't have been friendlier, from the front of house to the chamber maids and the bar staff. When we arrived we needed to book in fairly quickly as we were booked in for golf in Cahir Park and the process couldn't have been made more enjoyable. Bags were dropped, table booked in the Bistro for 9 o'c. and off we went. On arriving back that evening we made our way to the bar for a quick drink before our meal, again a very pleasant experience. Our table was ready as promised and the food was lovely. Our deal comprised a two course meal with B&B, so we all had different starters and there were no complaints from the vegetable soup, to the salmon with asparagus, to the black pudding dish etc. On to mains and once again all was good. Two of us had the pork, one had steak and the other a chicken dish. Friendly service all around which continued on to breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was not a buffet affair (with the exception of cereals etc), everything was delivered to the table and was piping hot and tasted very moreish. Great value for money in a superb location right in the heart of Cahir and within walking distance of everything. Thanks folks, we'll be back.
What a lovely nights stay my sister, mother and her sister had on the Saturday of the June bank holiday weekend. We were made feel so welcome and nothing was an issue for the hotel. I have stayed on LIDL breaks before and you are nearly made to feel like an out cast especially when asked "are you on the LIDL break? you get this special menu" there was none of that in the Cahir house hotel. We had a beautiful meal, I had the Duck with braised red cabbage extremely hot and plenty of everything, had to find these days, the breakfast was adequate but I would not recommend the hotel for it alone. The rooms were clean if not a little dated. We were located in a room over the fan which is never pleasant but one of our party had mobility problem (the hotel has no lifts) and this was the nearest room the hotel the receptionist could put us in, again she was very accommodating to our needs. Beautiful fresh white linen on the beds with a lovely hot powerful shower. The town of Cahir is very beautiful place with a trip to the Cahir Castel and Swiss cottage being a must. All in all if you were to stay in Cahir I would highly recommend this hotel. Its a hidden gem at the crossroads of Ireland with extremely friendly locals!!
ALL VERY LAID BACK BUT COMFORTABLE FOOD GOOD SERVICE VERY GOOD AND ALL STAFF VERY NICE AND HELPFUL EVEN DOWN TO THE MAINTAINCE MAN
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cahir house hotel. Good food..pleasant and helpful staff.
Clean and basic hotel. Great staff very friendly and helpful.spaciousrooms and great breakfast
Stayed for two nights, polite and friendly staff, in the main. The food was OK. Not a hotel for the wheelchair-bound, old or a young family, you have to walk up stairs to get to your room. There is no elevator . It was a challenge to get a child's buggy up these stairs. The shower room had loose tiles due to no grout, cannot see that being very safe.
Hotel in a good location but is basic. The breakfast-yougurts,breads,cheese and fruit and you can order scrambled egg or a full Irish breakfast from the menu. The bedrooms are very basic and could badly do with been upgraded. The tiles are up in the bathroom and the wood has been damaged with steam. The shower is very good with great pressure. The bed we had-had springs up through it.The staff were nice and the town is nice for a family walk down by the river suir. There is no elavator in this hotel and you have to carry your case up 2 flights of stairs and up and down corridoors as the hotel is quite old.
Hotel is located in the centre of cahir town-which is very convenient. We stayed in a triple room and it was very spacious and clean. There were not enough towels but the receptionist brought them up straight away to us and was very friendly. This lidl break was great value for money and I would definetly book again.
Lovely hotel staff very helpfull food excellant had a great weekend
The hotel is charming in its location, its rear entrance (shrub beds etc) and its internal downstairs layout. The upstairs is less so in its long, unrelieved corridor. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The food was very well prepared and presented and the staff's courtesy and service were excellent. We really enjoyed our overnight stay and dinner there. I certainly would recommend the hotel and would like to return there. I considered the Lidl Break excellent value for money - quite a treat in fact!
The hotel is in a very good location and the staff are very helpful. The front section of the hotel including the bar and bistro have been beautifully refurbished. However , the rest of the hotel badly needs a makeover. As we had requested a quiet room we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel. The corridors and rooms need to be painted , a neutral colour would greatly improve the appearance at very little cost. Otherwise we were happy with the hotel and would recommend it.
