Great warm friendly staff and clean hotel with a nice leisure centre
We have stayed in this hotel many times and my kids love it. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, especially when we have changed the meal orders (kids). We are booked in again!
Lovely hotel, swimming pool top class very relaxing, hotel rooms spotless. Evening Food in the bar was top class service was so good and polite. Breakfast was very tasty, will be back again, A1 rating
We have stayed here many times, the rooms are spacious and clean, the breakfast is always fresh including pastries and fruit, this stay we had a super tasty 2 course meal in the hotel restaurant, everything was cooked to perfection and the staff are all so friendly, looking forward to staying again
Fine size family room, lovely pool, temperature nice for children. Fabulous breakfast. However meal that night was poor in the restaurant next door. Would stay again
Easy check in, lovely polite staff, very clean, nice leisure centre, good food and good value for money
Lovely hotel the staff are very friendly. Could do with a separate bar area as it's attached to the restaurant, so going for a drink is uncomfortable as your looking at other people eating.
Nice hotel lovely modern rooms. Food was excellent. Just off the motorway and edge of town. Ideally located.
We absolutely love this hotel, the beds and rooms are so comfy and the food in the bar restaurant is always very tasty
Myself and my girlfriend Ciara had a lovely time. Bedroom was perfect and food was excellent. The staff very nice as well would highly recommended the Maldron Portlaoise.
mostly good . room on d cold side mike
Good location great breakfast Staff were very friendly defiantly come back
Josh was very friendly at reception and helpful .Bar staff were very attentive Dinner was delicious as well as breakfast the next morning. Room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel definitely will book again
Very friendly staff
Lovely staff, nice/clean/modern hotel. Tasty meals. Thank you!
Unbeatable value . The customer service was amazing . The food was very good .
We recently stayed in this hotel, we rang on route to see if our room was ready and the girl on reception was most helpful. Check in was easy, the family room was very comfortable & spacious and the breakfast the next morning was fresh with plenty to choose from. We will definitely stay again.
Beautiful hotel, comfortable beds and great food
Check in was hassle free but unfortunately the room allocated was not great. I was so unhappy I walked straight out back to reception. Thankfully received an alternative and this room was far more superior. So glad I made to choice to change. New Room was very spacious with double and single bed. It was well laid out with plenty of amenities. Bathroom had fantastic hot power shower. Very quiet room even though it was located on 1st floor, facing car park between hotel and club entrances. Had a very good nights sleep. Restaurant staff were very welcoming, dinner was plentiful and delicious. Breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel. Everything was buffet style and lots on offer. Tea/coffee machine was great as we got a takeaway coffee as well. Will we be back? Yes! We know which room to book next time ????
Excellent location, spotless & very good value .
Hotel was clean & comfortable. Food was good, staff friendly & helpful. Enjoyed the visit.
We found the staff very friendly and helpful. They made our special occasion, 50th wedding anniversary, very special.
Very central
The Hotel was lovely. The staff were so nice especially the desk man and the restaurant staff. Kids loved the pool. My only criticisms would be of the sofa bed in our family room where the brackets were sticking into my kids side when trying to sleep. For Superior room, should be another double bed. No air con, room was roasting. Lovely stay other than that.
Huge complements to all the staff, everyone we met was friendly and chatty and helpful. Room's were large and spotlessly clean and dinner, oh dinner was delicious . The only downside was the bar, it's not really a bar at all. But very happy and we will definitely stay again!
Very helpful staff. Spotlessly clean. Great breakfast
Absolutely loved it. Family room very spacious, staff very friendly. Food was so so good. Really good value Definitely go back again
Friendly staff, great food, good location. I would definitely stay here again.
Your staff are credit to the Maldon hotel From check in to check out Food excellent drinks excellent and the young Barman serving on the Sunday night excellent My family had a wonderful time Would recommend highly Thank you Slattery Family
Two many security locks Do not like coffee machine in the restaurants to slow. Ques. Rather pot of coffee at my table. For not having this I giving you a one. Need air conditioning in room extremely warm. Staff are nice and friendly.
Lovely clean room and friendly staff. Corridor noise at night prevents a good night's sleep.
Amazing hotel and staff are great would definitely go again
Lovely hotel Nice staff Great value 120 for 2 of us Bed and breakfast
Excellent hotel, lovely triple room, spotlessly clean, leisure, want to shout out all the lovely staff who were so kind and helpful
Great hotel but no proper bar. More like a restart so no music or atmosphere. Really liked hotel but this would stop me from going again
Lovely hotel. Will be back…
Great food. Lovely rooms and a great deal on our stay. Would highly recommend
Lovely family hotel. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious.

Excellent stay. Staff very helpful. Good value for money.
Very good value. Staff are very friendly and helpful at reception and in the dining room.
Great hotel for families, the pool is clean. The kids love the food and the extra shops right next to the hotel. Well book again ????
All staff..from reception to dining room exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very pleasant stay.

Nice clean hotel staff friendly. Parking right outside. Room clean and spacious. Pool was great for our son spent hours swimming. Changing room at pool could be cleaner as the was rubbish and underwear on floor from the day before which other had left but still hadn't been trown away by cleaners.
Enjoyed my stay a bit of enterainment in the bar be nice bar very small
The hotel facilities, food are service provided by the staff were excellent
We stayed in the Maldron on sat 20th Jan as a family. The staff were so nice. Looking forward to staying there again.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Hotel .The staff on arrival were very friendly and helpful they were very attentive and full of smilies which was great to see .The room was very fresh and modern gorgeous very relaxed feeling .Staff through out the hotel always had a smile and very friendly they seemed happy in their work .Bar staff and restaurant was all in one room very modern and fresh very relaxed atmosphere.Staff again were lovely.Food was lovely evening meal to Breakfast. This Hotel has great staff which shows in every department Happy staff makes for a great Hotel keep it up .Will be back again 100%.
All was excellent especially the staff, thank you.
We had a relaxing stay. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Enjoyed our food & few drinks. Room was spotless. Would stay again.
Lovely stay had by myself, my teen son and partner. Staff were very friendly, efficient and polite at all times - despite being very busy. The leisure facilities are fantastic and we're enjoyed by all three of us. None of us could fault our beautiful two course meal. The room was spotless, beds comfy and plenty of space. Breakfast was delicious. A wonderful mini break ????
Hotel is basic, ok for a stopover or a base if your touring in the area but it's a taxi ride to and from the hotel if you wanna go out for the night!! We were charged €10.50 for a glass of flat prosecco (no stawberry),in the bar, my wife complained and THEN the girl opened a fresh bottle!! Restraunt menu was the same on both nights, food quality was ok but nothing special, breakfast was poor, the scrambled eggs looked wet and pale, no wonder the pot was still full at the end of service!! Poor soundproofing in the rooms meant we could here the guy next door on his phone all night. On a positive note the beds were really comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great staff, clean, food is very nice and breakfast is all you could want. Beds and rooms are very comfortable. Leisure centre and pool is a great facility. Highly recommend
Very average hotel some staff looked like they wished they were anywhere else but working there
Such lovely friendly staff, pool and environs were spotless. We enjoyed a lovely hot jacuzzi. Dining staff very hospitable. Room well appointed much better than we expected. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing break thank you.
Disappointing overall. Dinner for guests was in a conference room because the hotel restaurant was fully booked for Christmas party groups. There was little attempt made to make the room look more like a dining room than a meeting room. The service was chaotic and lots of mistakes with orders, as I think all the attention was on the Christmas party groups. The only real positive was the breakfast, which was very nice.
Food was really poor, fish was inedible on the night, staff all over the place with mains being put on the table without starters cleared. management disagreeing with staff about working hours in earshot of guests. Really poor experience
Staff were excellent. Very friendly and went out of there way to make us feel welcome and ensure we enjoyed our stay. Very patient listening to my chatty 5 year old!
The hotel and all its amenities were spotless. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety. All staff were friendly and helpful. Will most def return.
Maldron Portlaoise was very clean and comfortable stay. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. An enjoyable stay and would stay there again in the future.
We had a great time away for a friend’s birthday, the staff looked after us really well and very the room was lovely and quiet and clean.
Staff were fantastic, evening meal was beautiful. Breakfast wasn't very warm and we were down early.
All very friendly staff. Clean room and building. Dinner and breakfast really tasty. Excellent hotel.
We stayed in the maldro portlaoise on the 6th oct for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had dinner in the restaurant which i have to say served a fantastic meal , the staff were amazing that night, a gentleman and 2 ladies seved us, i didnt get their names but they couldnt do enough. Food was so hot and tasty with generous portions. So id highly recommend to my work colleagues who have young kids also. A nice suprise, pool was nice too. Lovely breakfast topped it off..manage working that morning went offered to get lactose free milk for my son which i though was v admirable..he in the he didnt need it but i remembered the generous offer, many thanks, claire lennon and family
On a recent shopping trip to Kildare, I stayed with 2 friends in the Midwae Maldron and yet again it was top notch. Fantastic food, lovely accommodation, great staff and amazing value for money. We'll be back again soon!
on a recent shopping trip to Kildare, I stayed with 2 friends in the Midwae Maldron
Lovely hotel. Spacious clean and friendly staff . Breakfast was nice too they even made poached eggs as requested
The hotel was good and the food was amazing will definitely b staying again great value for your money every 1 should book through lidl breaks ????
Very clean. Staff very helpful to f Would recommend it to friends.
Lovely hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, Breakfast was excellent &had a great selection. The evening meal on the other hand was disappointing&the dining room was a little grubby, a little attention to detail was needed, food was up the little dividing wall we were sat at .over all we enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay
Have stayed here about 7 maybe 8 times now and cannot fault this hotel. Family rooms are nice a spacious and lovly and bright. Food is always fab and if you dont fancy the restaurant for food this hotel is attached to a full food court that has buger king chopsticks subway and a full hot food counter this is so handy. Portlaoise town is also a great town only 5 mins drive or bus which stops outside has plenty of shops bars and restaurants . Hotel also has a fab leisure centre with kids pool and spa which is great for girls trips and couples aswell. Would highly recommend a stay in this hotel Dont let me forget the cocktails in the bar they are delish????
We enjoyed our stay
Happy with hotel, disappointed there were no toiletries in the bathroom. Also your selection of Cocktails are very bad. Lovely staff.
Girls working in restaurant were lovely, friendly and interacted with us which was really nice and almost unusual in these times
A lovely hotel, with nicely presented rooms, beds are extremely comfortable and the food was delicious, leisure centre and pool were great and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will be back
Very friendly staff excellent service and value for money - I will be back
Lovely hotel, nice facilities and friendly staff, very reasonable prices, definitely return.
Bar area very small in hotel.Confortable room.Breakfast has plenty of choice but was cold.
Lovely comfortable hotel staff very friendly and helpful
Fantastic hotel all staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly food was fab aswel
Staff lovely food brilliant enjoyed our stay.
We received a warm, friendly welcome. Bedroom was very comfortable and clean. Restaurant menu had good selection of dishes food very tasty and beautifully presented by very friendly, helpful staff. Would highly recommend the Maldon, Portlaoise
I always choose this hotel when I'm going to Laois, myself mum and 3 children travel from donegal very often as we have family down there and no matter when we arrive until we leave the staff are lovely, friendly and will help you as best they can.
Friendly staff. Very clean. Good food. Great value. Only disappointment we did not get a disabled room or room next to lift as requested. Always did on our stays there in the past. However look forward to returning for a break soon agsin.
Highly recommend this hotel staff were amazing
Great location, amazing staff especially the young guy in the bar ( I didn't get his name) he was on Friday night, Saturday night and breakfast Sunday! The Best service ever. The strawberry frozen cocktail was amazing! Pool and Jacuzzi were fab and so clean. Apart from setting the toaster on fire every morning ???? ( my fault) breakfast was good. My friend said coffee could be improved. The dinner menu was great, lots of variety. To be honest it was only ok. Also we were asked to finish our starters and clear them, as our mains were ready. I've never been in a restaurant that asks this. Our table was booked for 8.30 as that was all of the availability they had, when booked Saturday morning ( we were told we didn't need to book until Saturday morning. To be fair that is NOT normal practice! My best friend has been a chef for 20 years and has told me stories of her having to sit there for an hour waiting for people to finish their food, just to order a coffee, no desserts etc. I don't appreciate this although, you're not fine dining, the service should have been better, from the kitchen, not teenage wait staff, who know no better. Obviously the Chefs had better things to do on a Saturday night at 9pm? This was the only down side to our stay. After this we just ate at Burger King and Subway after.
Great trip with family both times this month and 3 months ago! Food great and service, one downside was we requested a cot on both occasions in booking notes for the hotel through irish mini breaks and neither time was it in the room on arrival so notes on the booking weren't checked by reservation staff.
Refused to serve me a glass of prosecco as that would mean opening a bottle. Refused to serve me a glass of pinot grigio wine as that would also involve opening a bottle ????. Never in my life heard that before. Involved the manager and she got me a drink eventually
Nice, very clean hotel, very good breakfast and leisure centre was great for children
I was not impressed with this hotel ...I would only give it a 2 out of ten....the bar had no atmosphere at all so how were you supposed to sit and enjoy a few drinks ....restaurant was shabby looking so I wouldn't say it was a romanic setting to have a meal ....spuds were like rocks.....I came ...I saw....won't be back and won't recommend it to anyone either
Perfect base to explore. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Room was perfect. Not too warm. Kids bed can be pushed against the wall. Ice machine on the 2nd floor for keeping milk cold for bottles. Family changing room at swimming pool. Gorgeous food. Just knocked off one star for location as you can’t walk anywhere so you need to use the car
Very good. Directions to it were shocking bad. Took us 35 min to find once we got to Portlaoise
Spotless clean friendly staff
Loved the layout and access to the beautiful pool
Friendly staff, good service, very clean hotel....Will be back
Perfect overnight stay, Danielle in the restaurant couldn't be more helpful and made our stay all the more enjoyable. Would highly recommend
Food was amazing. Staff was excellent. Very good atmosphere.
Staff were very friendly. Food was very good especially breakfast. The beds were uncomfortable but hotel was quite at night.
Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful at reception and in the restaurant . Good was very good great selection , pool sauna steam room very pleasant a great location too .
Lovely hotel and facilities and dinner was lovely also
We had a nice relaxing night away, used the gym and pool. Had a lovely dinner and breakfast. Staff were very friendly.
Beautiful hotel, great location. Very helpfull staff. This hotel takes one for all vouchers which is great also.
a great experience all round. Guy on check in was helpful and friendly. bar and pool area were great, room itself was spotless and lots of room.
Been to many hotels in Ireland and the Maldron is up there with the best for Food , accommodation and cleanliness its a winner but the Jewel in the crown is your staff their friendliness kindness and professional approach is second to none will definitely be back
Stayed here for a family's 50th Birthday. There were 12 of us and staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had dinner booked and we were able to set up decorations at the table and staff held onto the cake and brought it out for us after dinner while all singing Happy birthday. Food was fabulous. Everyone found something they enjoyed. Some family had treatments and really enjoyed it and we used the leisure centre which was great. Would highly recommend the Maldron Hotel in Portlaoise.
Really enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were very helpful and very friendly. Food and service excellent.
We had 2 rooms and one smelt of smoke. Maid gave me an air freshener and did offer to move us but kids liked adjoining room. I was sorry I didn’t move afterwards as the smell of smoke was there for the weekend. First night we had a gorgeous meal but second night poor service and cool food
Hotel and staff were great, food was lovely, 12 o'clock would be a better check out time and even some background music would have been nice in the bar that night, other than that really enjoyed it.
Very relaxing break, staff were friendly and very professional
Friendly helpful staff, lovely food and gorgeous breakfast.
Brilliant Hotel , Bed rooms are lovely and unbelievably clean, fantastic friendly staff, ice machines on each floor. Shops and eateries next door. what more could you want.
Everything was great, clean, lovely leisure centre & food
The hotel was perfect for our 1 night stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious and the choice at breakfast was top class.
Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Rooms very clean and comfortable. The hotel is outside Portlaoise town so you would need to get a taxi into town.
The staff in the restaurant are so friendly and helpful. This for me is what makes me want to return again soon. 10 outa 10.
Lovely stay rooms were lovely children had a great stay with swimming and shops too ?
Nice clean hotel we enjoyed our stay
Absolutely no atmosphere here. No proper lobby or bar area, difficult to feel you were actually away at a hotel and as a result hard to relax and enjoy a break away. The pool was lovely & food was lovely but would not stay again. Staff seemed very young, and quite overworked especially during dinner time. Service wasn't great at dinner, barely seen staff smiling. No one seemed happy to be working there, really would put me off ever staying again. Not a great hotel experience
Great hotel! A little far from the town itself but taxi easily available, room was very nice clean warm, catering on site was very good very pleasant chefs! And front of house staff very down friendly.
My wife & I had a great 3 day break here. We found the staff, facilities, accommodation and food to be excellent.
Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel staff work really hard and are friendly. Dinner and breakfast plentiful and yum.????
Lovely staff. No issues
Centrally located for some sightseeing. Staff and service very good.
Beautiful hotel & Great location just off the motorway next to the midway food court. 5 minutes from portlaoise town. We had breakfast each morning which kept us energised for the day. Dinner in the evening was delicious plenty of variety to choose from. Will definitely stay here again
Enjoyed our 4 nights stay. Our room was excellent. All staff very friendly and courteous especially one member of the housekeeping staff who went the "extra mile" for us. This was our second visit and it wont be our last. Great bargain.
I wasn’t to sure about staying in this hotel as it was rated 3 star and I’m far from snobby. It was fantastic and the kids loved the food court. The staff could not have been more helpful. The the breakfast and dinner was lovely. We will definitely stay there again.
Hotel is clean and comfortable and staff are friendly. It's about 30 mins walk to the town centre with a path. Not much choice for vegetarians in the restaurant and at breakfast some of the items that would normality be vegetarian (hash browns, mushrooms) are cooked with the sausages making them not suitable. Also no information given regarding breakfast, where to sit, is it self service, where is the milk, and it seemed a bit chaotic. Leisure centre is nice.
Hi lovely 2 nights away good food and kids enjoyed the swimming will go back
Grand hotel near Portlaoise town ,clean, comfortable good staff and good breakfast.
Very Good
Food was lovely but the room wasn't great
Very pleasant stay very comfortable room. Food excellent.
Very friendly staff. Pool staff and restaurant staff were very kind with children.
Hotel is more suited around business and not families. Bar/restaurant are understaffed and could feel the pressure they were all under.
Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant it was very nice and very friendly and helpful staff.
We had a fantastic stay here. The staff were delightful, the food and cocktails were fabulous, we will definitely be returning.
Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant friendly service! The hotel was clean and the food in the restaurant was very tasty!
The staff were so friendly! Both in the hotel and the restaurant. We would definitely come back
Great ????
Hotel is about 20 mins walk from town but very handy to M7. I had no problems whatsoever. If I am being picky the burger I had for dinner was small and dry and l pretty much hate oven chips but that's just me
We had a lovely time Staff where friendly and helpful The hotel was spotless and lovely and warm Our room was comfortable and cosy We had dinner in the restaurant the second night and it was gorgeous Overall good value for your money Will go back again
One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Service, staff and hospitality are outstanding.
The hotel room was lovely and big and very clean. The only slight issue we had was there was initially a smell of cigarette smoke in the room.We ate in the hotel and the food was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel pool was lovley very clean was disappointed with the bar food menu not a great selection
Great staff.very accommodating. Nice clean hotel and food in the restaurant was very appetising. 4th stay here and will definitely be back.
Great value. Food was nice service even better. Kids club was very good boys had a ball
Very clean hotel staff very nice and friendly would highly recommend
We recently celebrated my husband's birthday in the Maldron Hotel, Portlaoise. It was a perfect location for family to meet and travel to easily. It is a modern hotel, nicely decorated and very clean. Our group enjoyed using the pool and the Alken beauty clinic. This hotel suited our needs as we needed a venue that was easily accessible for everyone but it is not the sort of location for a romantic or sight-seeing break away. Every member of staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. I didn't manage to get all their names but Shauna and the staff, in the restaurant, looked after us really well and kindly fulfilled my wishes to have the tables arranged to suit our celebration. They offered to help me decorate the tables and I even got some help with blowing up balloons! The food was beautiful and without any fuss they organised food for the two coeliacs in our group. (At breakfast it was impressive to see a table designated to gluten-free food.) The staff were absolutely lovely and they offered us a very friendly service at all times. We partied late and the lovely night porter was there to look after us. At checkout we met Josh who was also extremely pleasant and cheerful and sent us home with smiles on our faces. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making us feel so welcome and special.
Great hotel, staff very friendly. Great choice for dinner, big portions, really tasty. Lovely breakfast. Swimming pool very good.. would definitely recommend
Great Hotel, staff really helpful and accommodating. Food was really nice ???? room was spotless and nice and warm. Very comfortable overall. Easy parking out to the front.
The dinner was excellent, and the breakfast was very good. I would definitely staying there again
Clean Comfortable room .Leisure centre was excellent. Staff Friendly and Courteous. Food Delicious. Recommend to Family and friends.
Very enjoyable stay. Very comfortable rooms and food was excellent.
Great value, spotlessly clean, no road noise very good choice at breakfast.
Fast customer service. Restaurant staff were very friendly and phoned me in room to tell me my dinner was ready! I requested a quiet room and it was provided.
Had a very pleasant stay at The Maldron on a dinner/b&b package. Requested a quiet room as I'm a light sleep which we received & I had a great night sleep. Bar/restaurant was understaffed on the night due to unexpected illnesses but our meal was still delivered in a timely & professional manner so well done to all! Very enjoyable. Very good breakfast selection which was welcome. Overall the hotel has greatly improved from our last stay 3/4 years ago - we'll be back!
We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel was very clean, comfortable bed and good amenities - pool etc. We had dinner and breakfast, the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and efficient. My only complaint would be the shower, water pressure wasn't great and the temperature kept fluctuating. But we would stay again
Excelent hotel. Food, room, pool all very good Staff were son friendly and helpful Would recommend this hotel
The maldron hotel in portlaoise is a beautiful hotel to stay in. We stayed for one night as a short break, on arrival we had booked a massage and it was amazing. We then had swim and were totally relaxed. We had dinner in the evening and the food is fantastic, the staff were lovely and all very friendly. Overall it was a lovely experience and I will definitely be staying there again.
Really nice staff from start to finish nice clean hotel and great value for money from the website irishminibreaks.
I was disappointed that the pool and leisure closed at 7.30 pm and not 8 pm as was advertised
We had a fantastic time, everyone was so nice. From the young staff in the restaurant and bar to the reception you couldn’t ask for nicer. The food was excellent also. We would highly recommend the Maldron portlaoise hotel
Fabulous hotel perfect for kids. Staff are lovely, food is always gorgeous. We are regular visitors to the hotel and highly recommend the hotel.

Great value, lovely staff. We had a great time. Spotlessly clean. No issues with anything. Will def return.
Well looked after.
Have stayed here previously for work but this time stayed for a break. Food always good. Staff always friendly and helpful. Good location for nearby tourist attractions. Great value for two nights b and b and dinner on both nights.
Pool was great , staff were so friendly would love to come back again
Very comfortable and clean bedroom. Excellent food and service
Everything was lovely in Maldron. The only little thing we were disappointed with was that the evening meal menu was very limited.
Lovely clean hotel. Friendly staff. Lovely food had dinner one evening. Service very fast. Lovely breakfast each morning . Great selection. Whole family enjoyed the experience.
Nice hotel, big room. Good breakfast. It’s adjoined to a large petrol station with a few food courts in it. Swimming pool was very cold so only used the once and it was very busy. Great location to base yourself. Kildare national stud was 23min drive away. Nice staff. Would stay here again.
Lovely clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely food no delay with orders. Lovely selection of breakfasts. All Family very happy with hotel break.
Dinner very disappointing. Staff pleasant.
Great value for money, all staff were courteous, room was clean, swimming pool, etc very clean - all three of us had a very relaxing break.
Nice
Nice clean spacious room. Only complaint here is the HEAT! The room was WAYYY too hot. Very impressed with quality of dinner and breakfast. Great central location and we would definitely stay here again.
Staff very attentive, helpful & friendly. Pool, sauna, jacuzzi & steam room great & spotless. Food delicious
Very pleased with Maldron Hotel. Staff very friendly and excellent meals.
It's really lovely place 100% recommended Good atmosphere Lovely food I will come back!!!
Lovely hotel our 4th stay there. Our boys love the pool. Really nice staff evening meal was beautiful. We will probably be back before long. We'll worth a visit
Hotel was clean, staff friendly, comfortable beds. Cleanliness in pool area was very good. One slight problem with electrics by beds not working so we had to re arrange beds to facilitate use of sleep apnoea machine. We were offered an extension lead but when we went to get it the hotel didn't have one available and they asked if we wanted to move rooms at midnight. If it was earlier in the night we would have not at midnight.
Everything was great apart from access into the main doors. It could do with an easier button to open the doors while wheeling the wheelchair in. The disabled room was perfect with the bathroom really to access. The food was excellent, staff really nice and friendly and the room was spotless.
Great stay. Perfect location to explore the Midlands. Really enjoyed our visit. Food is lovely. Friendly staff
Excellent staff, food and facilities, night porter Simon couldn't do enough to accommodate us and our 6 month old baby, Definately be back.
Celebrating a birthday, surprise cake was delivered to the room, hotel was spotless, food was fabulous. Staff were most friendly, Buffet breakfast had a large selection of options. Very pleasant experience.
Celebrating a birthday, surprise cake was delivered to the room, hotel was spotless, food was fabulous. Staff were most friendly, Buffet breakfast had a large selection of options. Very pleasant experience.
Hotel is OK for an overnight stopover but not for a weekend break I had asked for easy accessible room as one of our party has mobility issues but was not given one. Little or no entertainment at the hotel, bar service was poor also seem to have no idea how to pull or serve a pint of Guinness
Lovely hotel, we got a large room, lovely and clean. Great breakfast each morning. Leisure facilities we really good also
Very friendly staff..clean...breakfast was tasty..hot and a good variety of food.
Fab hotel, friendly & helpful staff, room was spacious & comfortable. Loved the Breakfast. Definitely worth a visit, as so accessible to motorway & portlaoise town
Great hotel staff so nice. Food gorgeous. Ideal for a night with kids.
Son is 8 and autistic and loves this hotel.with kids it's great as you have the pool and service station with Burger King next door. Ideal for our family. Can walk to tk max/dunnes and the staff are so pleasant - they couldn't do enough.breakfast so amazing - pancakes in all for kids and big fry up with great continental preference.
Coeliac breakfast was extremely limited.
Staff at hotel were so helpful and accommodating. Went with family and you could tell it was a hotel used to dealing with families and small children. Everything was perfect for our stay there
Couldn't fault this hotel. So clean and comfortable. Beautiful breakfast and staff so nice!!!
The hotel is very clean.
Very nice hotel friendly staff and lovely food and room
from our arrival to our leaving was a lovely experience, with no issues. the receptionist was exceptional ,pleasant, kind, helpful. the hotel was booked out for dinner that night, she gave us the names and phone numbers of other restaurants which made it so easy for us. the other staff at reception were equally as helpful. the room and beds were comfortable, the breakfast was fabulous. we will certainly be back to take the lovely walks and trails around there.
Had a lovely stay at the maldon Hotel, been here many times and always look to forward going back the staff are very friendly the food is really nice.
Very average hotel. Staff were lovely.
Hotel room spacious very clean staff extremely friendly helpful restaurant again very clean followed all the Covid rules would easily recommend
Hotel room spacious very clean staff extremely friendly helpful restaurant again very clean followed all the Covid rules would easily recommend
Staff were lovely, room clean and spacious, dinner was lovely , breakfast wasn't great but still didn't go hungry, the only disappointment was the lack of availability of leasure center and only allowing one visit per night , I would have picked a different hotel had I known before hand as all other hotels I have stayed in in the last year allowed more than one visit ,some being alot bigger premises
beautiful hotel, staff was so friendly and helping, room was lovely apart from hairs left in bath, and loud neighbours banging and shouting at 4am kicking doors and screaming was very annoying
Rooms were clean, but only one pillow per person supplied, asked for more but didn’t get any. No offer of clean towels, etc.. Pool has to be pre booked and only get 45 minutes. Young, unsupervised kids left run the halls into the early hours. Good location and restaurant was nice for dinner.
Lovely hotel. Very Clean and beds were comfortable, spacious rooms. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Perfect for families as there is a food court and shop etc beside the hotel so everything is close to hand. Portlaoise is also a great shopping town. Nice swimming pool too. Loads of seating area around the hotel too which is great ????
The hotel is very comfortable, huge bedrooms, excellent bar and restaurant and all the staff are well trained and very friendly. All Covid-19 protocols are in place and this makes you feel safe in your stay. There is a complex of convenience stores, Burger King and Subway etc next door to the hotel, so you are never short of treats. I would recommend this hotel and will stay here again.
We loved our stay from the minute we arrived to when we left. We felt so safe in the hotel with the plans put in place to protect guests from Covid19. The staff were so friendly and helpful in each department, from Reception to the Restaurant to the Swimming pool. I look forward to our next stay here.
Myself and my sisters, had an overnight stay. The staff couldn't do enough for us and always with a smile, even behind their masks. The food was delicious, service impeccable and cleanliness top notch. They gave us great local venue recommendations too. Will be back.
GOOD
The staff are friendly and they are doing the best they can with the restrictions. However, at breakfast we were overlooked as others was serviced ahead of us even though we were there first, so we had to grab a waitress and then she had to come back to us again and ask our order as it seems she forgot so that was a shame. On the flips side the meal that evening was lovely and went off without a hitch. The location is perfect just being off the motorway and down the road to the town. Overall happy with they stay except for the non child friendly bedside tables in the family room which should be rounded..
Lovely stay. Friendly staff. Great pool. Good food.
The staff at The Maldron could not have been nicer. So courteous, friendly and helpful. The food was A1 on both nights of our stay. Really enjoyed our stay. The only down point I have is the out door area could be made bigger, the space is there, especially at this time I think it would be beneficial to increase the size.
Would recommend hotel had a great time staff were very good and accommodating ...but we did not like Alken clinic did not feel we got vaule for money
Very nice hotel, rooms were spacious. Great food and quick service for both dinner and breakfast, no background music for ambiance though. Only grievance would be we were asked to leave the restaurant at half 10 and were told we could sit outside with the bar open until 12. Shortly before half 11 the receptionist came out to say the outdoor area was closed since 11, very mixed messages.
Family friendly hotel. Staff amazing espically the restaurant staff. Will stay here again.
Not suitable for children as there is nothing to do for them and not very accommodating in the in the restaurant and bar and breakfast and dinner both poor
Booked two rooms, one family and one triple. Arrived circa 2pm to meet up for lunch. Although early checked with reception and the family room was ready so all checked in and we paid for the two rooms. Called to reception just after 3pm to get my key but my room wasn't ready. Checked with reception again at 4pm and room still not ready. Sat in reception until 5om when eventually our room was ready. Totally unsatisfactory. However bar and restaurant staff were very helpful and pleasant. Reception staff not so helpful.
beautiful hotel , staff was so friendly, food was amazing kids had a ball in the pool great hotel for a great price
Family friendly hotel spotlessly clean only down side is the menu isn’t big but food is lovely
Staff at this hotel were amazing especially, Anna and Linda. Hotel was clean, but basic. We stayed for 3 nights that included bed and breakfast and evening meal. The food was discussing, from the breakfast to the evening meal. The first night we ordered the beef which was gone off, only to be smothered in gravy to hide the taste beef that was sour. The food continued that way, the food was burned and dried up, even to the toast. This hotel needs a play area for children as it was advertised on there web site. Lots of families stayed at this hotel with nothing for children only 45 minutes allowed in the pool. I will not be staying here again
Had a one night stay here for leisure post lockdown. The hotel staff were all very nice from reception to the leisure centre and all very nice and helpful in the restaurant also. Bedroom lovely and clean and beds nice and comfortable. I did however find the levels of hygiene throughout the hotel very poor regarding Covid 19. There wasn’t enough hand sanitising stations and almost nobody was wearing masks walking through hotel (even through the reception) and nobody said anything. We sat outside in the sun for a drink and there were used glasses and a discarded face mask on our table. We asked someone to clean the table but she just removed the items but did not actually clean the table. The food in the restaurant was lovely but after we finished we had to leave and could not stay on for a drink even though it is the hotels only bar area . We were told we could sit in the small lobby which was full or a small room out the back which was being used as seating but when we looked in it had a very large family gathering in there so that was not an option for us. Staff did eventually move a small table from the restaurant and put it in the lobby for us which was the best we could get. It just makes no sense to move everyone from the restaurant/ bar area where tables are distanced into cramped seating areas which lacked comfort. The bar closed completely at 10.45pm and there were lots of very disappointed people trying to head in to get a drink. When checking out I was being charged for the meal which we had paid for the previous evening. The receptionist apologised and amended the bill yet I was called on my phone less than 10 minutes later to say I had not paid for our evening meal and had to go through it all again. Overall the staff were doing their best but I don’t think the hotel was properly prepared for dealing with the capacity they had while trying to mantain adequate hygiene levels and comply with guidelines without compromising on guests comfort.
Absolutely fantastic hotel. The staff are amazing very helpful and the food is fab, very family friendly
To start on a positive the restaurant staff were amazing :) beyond that the smell of cannabis within the hotel and my room directly was really heavy and a bit sickening. Despite bringing it to receptions attention twice there wss nothing done about it and continued all night. Very disappointing experience and kind of expected more
Clean hotel with efficient, friendly service. Thank you.
Staff couldn't do enough for you ,the food in restaurant was very well presented and tasty, hotel room was spotless, it was good value overall.????
staff all worked very hard in these times of covid and couldn't do enough for you
Everything was perfect.
Staff were all lovely, dinner was gorgeous highly recommend the fish cakes and steak.. Lisa was super helpful in sorting dinner reservations for us... room was clean nice n big only one minor thing was no air con in room and no fan available to compensate for it being warm n humid (although not often we can day that in Ireland)
Stay here every time I'm in Portlaoise. Staff, service, cleanliness and food all hassle free and top quality. Had an unforseen circumstance while there and had to cancel second night. Got full refund even though it was not the 48 hrs notice required.
lovely hotel
Great food great room great prices. Great location for kildare shopping
Very clean and room was lovely quite spacious too. Food was fab and a great selection also. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends and family.
Lively nights stay, room was spotless and food wasl ovely.
We enjoyed our stay at the maldron , the room was spotless and the food was top noch what more can u ask for , tumbs up from us
We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious which was great as we had to work there for a couple of days. Food was also good, with decent options for dinner and breakfast. The hotel had good Covid precautions in place with plenty of hand sanitiser and a mask on policy in public areas.
Beautiful big airy room . Brilliant shower spotless clean . Food was very nice . Staff friendly mannerly and helpfull . Have booked already to go back
Great clean hotel rooms immaculate
Only lost a mark as the room was not refreshed after our 1st of two nights. We hung the tag free for cleaning on the door. The hotel want you to do everything through an app online. I don't see the need. COVID 19 or not. Food very good. Room quiet even though you’re right beside the motorway. Tv channel choice very good. Our remote control was a bit slow but probably only batteries. Good hotel for a short break or longer one. We didn’t use the leisure centre. Not too far from town.
Very good location, good service from all staff, nice hotel and very good for children. Will be back
The hotel was very clean, basic but that's too be expected. Service was very quick at dinner. Breakfast was not great, porridge cold. Not a great selection. Staff friendly enough.
Good location , big room , very clean
Lovely little hotel, spotless clean and lovely tastey food. Great little break with the family
Lovley hotel and great food, we had meal on each night in hotel restaurant. Very tasty, great service. Clean room, pool available for us every day. Highly recommend hotel . We are very happy with our short break away.
A very nice modern hotel with good leisure facilities and excellent food. The bedroom was spacious and the staff friendly and helpful.
Staff were fab especially in the restaurant so polity, friendly and attentive. Food was also great.
Nice hotel, close to everything. Good deal. Wasnt 100% happy with the food but overall good.
Excellent Staff
Everything was first class and the hotel are taking Covid-19 seriously. We stay here regularly and will be soon again.
Staff lovely, food fab ,lovely pool :) very clean would recommend :)
Very clean and all staff lovely , food was fab :) thankz :)
Nice hotel..... great staff......
Please pay attention to quality , breakfast was cold both mornings. Staff very busy , very pleasant and working very hard. All the extra measures to ensure a safe service taken.
Lovely staff, pool and room. Great location. only gave 4 stars as dinner menu was almost the same both nights and breakfast some breakfast items were not available on both mornings. Also outside hotel was messy with papers etc and the bin was full. We had a great time and will definitely return.
Great stay, very helpful, swimming pool was lovely and great food x
Had a fab weekend myself and husband in this hotel. Spotless clean, friendly staff , relaxing and peaceful. Would highly recommend this hotel ...
Nice breakfast
We stayed for 2 nights, from the minute we arrived everything was super from the staff to the room and the facilities. We had breakfast and an evening meal included in our package and I can't fault a thing the evening meal was fabulous as was the breakfast on both mornings. My partner went for a massage in the onsite salon and thought it was amazing. We also used the pool area and just really enjoyed our weekend here would really recommend for a chill out weekend
from the time we arrived staff were very helpful we had a room on the second floor overlooking the car park the room was very clean and had good space for us as a family we were booked in for breakfast and dinner and it did not disappoint the food was lovely great choice for breakfast and lovely dinners enjoyed the dinners in the evening they start at 5.30pm would recommend the wings beef and chicken also nice selection of desserts while staying we used the pool which was lovely would recommend staying at this hotel we will return thank you for a lovely stay
Stayed for 2nights over the Easter weekend, staff friendly and helpfull. Hotel was great and the pool was excellent. Would stay again.
We had a wonderful weekend break at the Maldron hotel. It is in a very central location and ideal for visiting Ireland. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and the food was wonderful.
It's was great for families. Great value .Great staff
Fab hotel very central location. Rooms lovely and big. Food great
There is not enough I can say about thus Hotel. Will definitely be returning. Staff excellent. Front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms spotless clean. I especially liked the complimentary bottle of water. Food was of an excellent standard. Plenty of choice for Breakfast. Great value for money Looking forward to returning soon.
Absolutely lovely hotel staff very nice, food very nice. kids really loved the pool no pressure to get out of rooms even offered as checkout for 1pm and said children could still use these facilities even after check out .Room spotless and plenty of room for family of four. Will definitely return.
Great time girl on reception was a credit to the maldron my husband booked the maldron again for fathers weekend
Simply brilliant. Hotel very comfortable (recently done up) Rooms clean and comfortable. Food great. But it is the staff who really make the difference. Whether it is Tom in the restaurant, Caroline on reception or Anna & Renata at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble which leads to a very relaxing stay. Thanks for everything guys!
Loved our short stay here, but the pool was freezing, not the water but the air, you could see kids shivering around the sides, a strong cold breeze comes in probably from the air conditioning. That said, I see us staying again.
Stayed for one night b&b with dinner. Clean and comfortable room with all required accessories. Very friendly, helpful and courteous staff. Fabulous food. Prices very reasonable. Unfortunately time didn't allow a visit to leisure centre this trip but will definitely visit again.
We spent two days there over the midterm. I have to say it was a fantastic hotel, spotless clean, really friendly staff on check in, nice barman who was friendly and talkative, lovely leisure facilities, what can I say? I would definitely go back there again. My kids had a fantastic time, they went to the kids club both nights and had great fun. Thank you Maldron Hotel :)
I stayed in the Maldron Hotel in Portlaoise with my sister last weekend. We were greeted by a very friendly Receptionist who was highly professional and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Plenty selections at breakfast and Dinners were delicious. It was a pleasure to meet Restaurant Manager Tom he has such a great manner and personality and is outstanding at his work. The leisure center was closed for renovations but we were given the option to go to another Hotel. We will definitely recommend this Maldron Hotel to our friends and look forward to returning at a later stage. I give it FIVE Star rating
Stayed in the Maldron Hotel in Portlaoise with 5 friends last weekend. We had a wonderful time everything was great. The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly and helpful and everything worked in the leisure center . All in all we fully enjoyed our weekend in the Maldron
Pool area may need a bit of work, upgrading. Family room was plenty big and v comfy. Food was extremely good! Overall v good stay.
We had a wonderful break. It was an overnight get away to catch up with friends. The dinner, B&B deal for €120 for the two of us was wonderful. We didn't get to use the leisure facilities but the staff were polite, kind, professional; food was amazing and service was very good also. There were no frills but it was perfect for what we booked. Our only 'complaint' would be that the carpet in the room was quite dirty. Not something that can be vacuumed; would require a steam clean; but this did not affect our stay at all.
lovely hotel, staff where very nice, enjoyed the swimming pool
Room was grand. Had dinner on the evening of arrival and didn't really enjoy it. My wife and I were of the opinion that our choice of menu was what had been available at lunch time and that what we ordered was only reheated.
Lovely family hotel. Third time staying here. Keep returning for the value, the food, the staff and the pool. 3 beds in the room is so handy. Excellent location also.
Great value for money and very easy to find. Not much choice for the lidl break dinner though.
Good value hotel. Clean, quiet and spacious family room - great to have a third bed instead of the usual camp bed. Dinner and breakfast both good. Leisure centre pool a little cool but no complaints other than that.
Excellent. Great value. Impressed with Leisure Centre. Only negative: Asked to pay for drinks when checking out even though I had already paid in restaurant/bar – fortunately I had retained receipt; no apology offered.
Hotel was grubby, really understaffed in the restaurant, basic accomodation!
B & B excellent. Will use again.
I could not fault the hotel itself. It was clean, welcoming and the room was of a really high standard and very spacious. All staff were friendly and more than accommodating at all times and we really enjoyed our stay. The only blemish was that the restaurant for our evening meal was understaffed for the amount of diners and also one of the staff seemed new and unsure. While both staff members were friendly it took 2 hours from start to finish for our dinner. That is fine if it's just a couple but trying to keep 3 small children amused and content for that length of time is a minor miracle!!!! And we only had 2 course! We did enjoy our stay and would go back again.
Excellent family place yo stay in summer especially! Great facilities great location. The website pix don't do it justice x
Nice stay, rooms lovely and clean, staff friendly, pool area a little cold. Would stay again.
lovely staff ,lovely room, only down side was the restaurant. we had booked in for dinner ,we waited 45 mins beyond our booking time until I approached a member of staff........they had forgotten us we ate at 10pm food was dry and re-heated. we ate it but only as we were starving.actual hotel was nice ...pity about the restaurant .very poor service.bar and restaurant being managed by the same person...running all over the place.
I visited Maldron Hotels in Portlaoise number of times with my family and each time I see the standards being optimized. Its a Hotel where family can have a perfect vacation. Friendly staff ,nice restaurant and also a food court next. Only thing I noticed this time was a bit of more bleach in jacuzzi. Will keep visiting them again :-).
Staff were friendly and helpful. The meal included in the package was delicious and above expectations for the price point. Room was clean, roomy and quiet. Lovely stay, Pity there is no Atmosphere or Music in the Bar, We were a party of 7 & Donna had our rooms beside each other with door between us . Clodagh Browne 1st April 2016
Ideally located just off the M7 and only a short distance from the town. The room was spot-on and the breakfast was good also. I liked the fact that they had take away coffee cups with lids. Nice touch. Would stay there again.
i had a good say rooms were nice, all staff were really nice apart form a bald guy who worked in the swimming pool/gym he was quite aggressive at one point, that is why i didn't give it 5 stars. the price was great as well.. i would go again..
Staff were friendly and helpful. The meal included in the package was delicious and above expectations for the price point. Room was clean, roomy and quiet. Lovely stay.
Extremely disappointed esp after reading all the great reviews. Check-in was awkward... booked via Lidl Breaks and reception had no reference of same. On walking up to the first floor we passed several trays of food which has been stacked up in the corridors - poor esp when this was at 3.30pm in the afternoon. When we eventually got checked into a family room (room 106) and the stench of stale smoke was horrific, we asked to be moved and we were moved to the second floor. We availed of the leisure facilities, I would say they were somewhat grubby. Showers in changing area were grey and dull and I would definitely wear flip flops when using the facilities. The pool temp was warm and there were some wild kids in the pool throwing floats and jumping into the pool and having no respect for others (I had a young infant and a toddler with me). The steam room was not impressive, there was a tiny trickle of steam and several loose and missing tiles in it, I did not try the sauna. The hotel room itself was adequate, good shower and room was clean (standard of a 3 star hotel) The toilet seat however had seen better days and needs to be replaced. The Bar and Restaurant was very busy (there was a group booking of about 40 people). The staff working there were very friendly, pleasant and I can not fault them but they really had their work cut out and could do with more staff. The food was average, the chicken wings for starters were very crispy and overdone (like they had been re heated), the vegetables that came with the main course were burnt at both ends (again like they were re heated). The amount of children running amok in the hotel was terrible , in the reception area there were kids with noisy remote control cars. When we took the stairs back to our room there was a group of kids playing twister at the top of the stairs. These same kids were running up and down the corridor until the early hours of the morning. After minimal sleep the fire alarm was tested at 7.15am Breakfast the next morning was fine, I also agree with other people when they say that it appears the hotel is housing guests, this was definitely my opinion. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a place to relax this is not the place for you. Never have I given bad reviews before but this hotel really tested me and we definitely wouldn't be back. As I mentioned earlier I can not fault the staff, they are doing their very best in a bad situation.
I stayed in this hotel for one night as part of a party of 17 women, we had a great time, the staff were friendly & helpful, the food was excellent, & the rooms were warm, clean & comfortable, i will go back again soon Mary Sheridan
Great hotel friendly staff. Easy to get in and out of Dublin from here. Would recommend
Stayed in November...Rooms were lovely, spacious and clean. Breakfast was lovely. I'd stay here again.
We found the hotel leisure centre of a very high standard. The staff were friendly and very helpful particularly the reception staff
We had a great break in the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will come back.
Dissapointing stay - bar had no atmoshphere and breakfast was not nice at all - eggs left lying until thy had a skin on them/ orange juice watered down etc. Also guests rrunning around in Pyjamas all day - looked liek the hotel was housing guests. Would not return
great value for money.. good location. friendly helpful staff. great facilities. would go back
Lovely escape. Hotel rooms are very big and comfortable. Staff vey friendly. Restaurant food was nice and the bar staff very accommodating. Leisure facilities a bonus. Overall a great mini break
The Hotel staff were extremely friendly..Hotel was basic, modern and clean
Hotel staff very friendly, good value rooms - size -clean; gym facility excellent; Breakfast was of very poor quality - sorry not up to standard
it is what it is a half way stop over staf very nice food good valu they only put heating on every so often its on a timer so if its cold to bad . also they could do with doing up bar and rest area it resemples a school canteen will i be rushing back maby for a wedding or someting to dated
Spa treatment was great and the girls were lovely. All staff at the hotel reception bar staff were lovely. Food was absolutely terrible!
Lovely Hotel. Really enjoyed the stay. Staff really nice and very helpful
Hotel room were basic but fine. However the heat in the room was unbearable and there was no aircon. The staff weren't very pleasant on arrival we were left waiting for ages to check in, seemed as if the woman had to shuffle papers and pace back and forth before dealing with us. Might have something to do with the plough championship that week and they were all exhausted I'm not sure. Food in Stir was lovely and very reasonable. The leisure centre was also great we just won't be back!!!
Room was perfect and the beds were comfy no problems with the room. Only issue we had was the noise made by other guests up until 3am in the morning. Also the bar is not a residence bar you would usually get in a hotel, it closed far to early.
Great hotel with pool gym and steam room. Breakfast was great! Full irish breakfast, cereals, breads and pastries. We got a twin room which was pretty large with a double bed and a single bed. Theres a food complex beside the hotel with a nice range of fast foods, pizzas, Subway, O'briens etc. Only downside was that there was no fridge in the room, which was irritating . But great hotel, would visit again
Was lovely relaxing Hotel no air conditioning which was really needed on the two nights we were there. The food was ok, more variety needed was same menu both nights. And the waiting staff were not very friendly. But loved the Hotel couldn't fault it great pool & gym.
We had a pleasant stay, The only thing that we were not happy with was we had to wait 45 minutes for our room, every thing else was fine and the staff were friendly many thanks Kayleigh,.
Room was very nice clean and spacious . Staff at reception very helpful and friendly. Dinning staff could of been a bit more friendly and welcoming. Breakfast next morning staff the same my sister asked the chef for a pouch egg..we never got it... reception staff at swimming pool not helpful we had to find out where dressing room was... they could of been more welcoming seeing as we were guests to the hotel.
Excellent service and a very enjoyable hotel. Stir Restaurant felt as if it was separate than the hotel itself and had a very casual feel to it for a hotel restaurant dining room. The hotel itself was lovely however I feel the restaurant lowers the tone of the hotel. Overall a very enjoyable stay and no complaints.
lovely hotel great breakfast staff friendly and helpful easy acess to motorway and portlaoise
Worst hotel in Ireland, not even 3 stars, bar and resturant absolutely terrible, staff abrupt with customers, this is a maneger less hotel ,ther is no way a competent manager would run a hotel like this place,if this is last hotel available on your chosen dates ,pay more and stay some where else, not for couples looking romantic weekend please give this place a miss, don't book here, thank god for review s ,it will send a message to hotels to treat your customer right, sh-t hole
Perfect way to book everything was 100%thank you
Very happy with the Maldron Hotel. It was in a good lcation and a nice 25 minute walk into Portlaise. Hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. We had our breakfast and dinner included in the package. The food was very good and there was plenty of choice. I would stay there again as we got a great deal.
Very convenient to the motorway, clean room with all requirements. Staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Bar not very comfortable. Didn't use the leisure facilities. Overall happy and would stay again.
Nice experience overall, staff were friendly but seemed a bit stretched. Rooms are a little bit dated / shabby for a Maldron. Location isn't great but we knew that in advance. Nice pool and leisure facilities and got a good few nights sleep so a good choice if you've got kids
the maldron in portlaois was lovely . the staff very friendly . the food very tasty , two negatives first was the water went for a good while so we wherent able to have showers or even flush the toilets . the receptionist did bring us up a jug of water when it was requested , and on the sunday morning there was a sickening smell at the jaccuzi we couldnt use it . also i felt like the lesure centrr could do with a good scrub .
found the hotel to be very good value for money, would recommend the hotel to a friend, the breakfast was good
we had a nice relaxing 2 day break, the hotel is well maintained ,the pool is very good and the food is nice and the rooms are cosy . will be back
I enjoyed having the pool almost to myself on a Friday evening. The facilities are ok, what you'd expect from a 3* hotel. The leisure center is a bonus.
We thouroghly enjoyed our stay. It was superb value for money. The staff and facilities at the hotel were excellent. We would defintley stay again.
we as a family love this hotel, and come back often, it's comfortable and homely and people are very friendly. The bar is the most expensive part! for us from the midlands anyway. Leisure centre is an added bonus which the kids love! right beside a food court which is very handy for the kids
Good quality hotel ,brilliant staff and a great leisure centre ,food is not bad and the breakfast is very good.Family room was comfortable and clean but very warm and noise from motorway prevented the window being opened but not a huge problem
very nice hotel lovely staff and spotless well done all
stayed at the maldron on the may bank holiday for 3 nights.staff were very pleasent.rooms and breakfast were grand.on the down side the restaurant was in the bar just 3 steps from floor level and was very bare and not very cosy.also there is no residence lounge .anna from dublin.
Enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The room was very comfortable and our meals were excellent. We will stay at this hotel again.
Myself and my 3 sisters brought our man here for a spa break for mothers day we found it to be a lovely and friendly hotel and only a short drive to the town.We are planning on making this a regular family trip
Very easy to get to this hotel off Motorway..I went to the hotel for 1 night with my husband..Our room was big but our bed was just 2 singles pushed together,it was not one bit comfortable, room was cold and with no extra blankets, pillows in the room it was not a very comfortable nights sleep at all..Service in the restaurant at dinner time was terrible..It was a Saturday night, busy and 2 waiting staff with some additional help from a manage from what i could see..Table was not cleared of starter plates when main courses arrived!Reception staff were welcoming and friendly..I would stay again tho as it is very accesible and close to portaloise..Although i would look for a better quality of room when booking!!
The hotel was nice. It stated in the information sheet in our room that an a la carte menu was available in the bar untill 10pm, however when we went to eat there it was only a carvery menu that was available, with very limited options ..
STAYED IN HOTEL LAST WEEKEND WITH MY 2 FRIENDS. BOOKED HOTEL BY ACCIDENT AS I THOUGHT IT WAS NEARER TOWN CENTRE. hOWEVER A SHORT TAXI RIDE TOOK US TO CITY CENTRE FOR EVENING ENTERTAINMENT AT LOW COST. i HAVE ONLY GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS HOTEL. tHE STAFF ARE REALLY VERY WELCOMING AND ATTENTIVE. FOOD WAS OF HIGH QUALITY AND THERE IS NO SCRIMPING WITH PORTIONS. LATE CHECK OUT WAS AVAILABLE TO US AT NO EXTRA COST. WEATHER OUTSIDE WAS REALLY COLD BUT ROOMS VERY VERY WARM AND COSY.
The room was nice and had everything you needed. The pool area was clean and we enjoyed a swim and the sauna. We found the lobby of the hotel to be drab and uninviting. We were not tempted to dine in the stir restaurant as the menu was limited and the room lacked atmosphere The breakfast was adequate. For bed and breakfast it was good value for money..
My husband and I stayed in this hotel with our 7 months old son for New Year’s and we would have nothing only positive things to say about the experience.Good location, great staff, nice room and very tasty breakfast. This is great hotel for family and we will definitely be back.
Stayed here 2nd of January`,there was 10 of us with 3 rooms. Had a lovely stay.Rooms basic but very clean, kids loved the swimming pool.Had a meal in the hotel that night, food was very tasty and plenty of it,very busy in the restaurant when we where there, only 2 people serving could of done with 1 more ,but fair play to the 2 that where there they worked hard. Also had free Wi-Fi which was great for the kids to play their games. All the staff we meet where very helpful and polite.I would stay again if in Portlaoise.
I found the hotel excellent great value spotless clean friendly staff & excellent food will definitely go back there
I had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Food was fantastic, and the hotel staff were very friendly. It was great to have a kids pool too. The only thing I thought the prices charged in the bar were top end dublin hotel prices. The reception staff were great. That would be my only criticism.
Really enjoyed our stay in the Maldron Portlaoise, the staff were very helpful. The food was very nice and the rooms were great. We also requested a joining rooms which was organised for us and we were very pleased with it.
had a great stay rooms where very spacious and clean staff vey kind and helpful would definitely stay again.
I'm very happy to write a review on the Maldron Hotel. We arrived early and I just needed to confirm my booking but the receptionist (Sinead) searched till she found a room that was ready and so we had access immediately. We asked about places to walk and she advised us on possibilities which was exactly what we needed - Emo. We came back to a lovely relaxing time in the Leisure Centre followed by a delicious meal served by friendly staff. On check-out we again asked about directions to Slieve Bloom and again Sinead took time to give us directions - (I think she phoned her mother to get the perfect route). I'm so pleased with the Maldron that I have booked my next break in the Maldron in Wexford. The great park of all of this was the affordable price. Hotel room was spacious and breakfast very good, ideal location and suits the pocket. Star rating is a 3
Very enjoyable stay here - - staff v nice and friendly . Will visit again .. great value too
I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel, excellent facilities ,had a great nights sleep on those comfortable beds, very nicely laid out room too, food was very good, and I enjoyed a few drinks in the bar,all in all a brilliant place to stay,I hope to go back again one day.Regards Eithne Hynes.
Upon entry to our hotel room, we were hit with an awful smell of smoke. We are non-smokers so found this horrible. We had checked in at 5 and even if the last people had checked out at 12 the smell was so strong in the room with the windows closed. I rang down to reception and asked if we could be moved. After 15 minutes we were moved to a room on the ground floor beside the pool. Thankfully the room didnt smell of smoke but there was a vent outside our window that buzzed on and off all night. I had mentioned it when I was checking out but the person behind the desk was not interested as the hotel lobby with busy with runners. The Breakfast was ok, although it was self service we had to wait on more bread, butter & glasses for juice. I think this was because there only seemed to be two ladies doing the breakfast shift. The hotel is nice and clean just these few things put a damper on our night there.
Not bad for a 3 star. Good size family room - could be cleaner and tvs definitely need to be upgraded. The FOH staff should be highly commended on their customer service skills. Arrived to an empty reception desk (he was in a room assisting with one of the dodgy tvs which we were about to discover for ourselves) however within a minute a barman had appeared, explained the situation and offered us a drink by which time the receptionist had reappeared. Breakfast and dinner both of a good standard and again service fast and efficient. Well done.
Located about five minutes drive but 15-20 mins walk from town. Nice quiet location with plenty of food outlets in the same estate. However as our package included dinner we went to hotel restaurant. Lovely food and good servings, however the a la carte menu was a bit limited. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of cereals etc. All self service except the hot food. The room was clean and nice and airy. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The TV was very limited in the number of working channels. Thankfully the hotel wifi was very good so we used our laptop for entertainment. the pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room were grand and it was nice to relax there. it's a hotel to sleep in but has very little character to it otherwise. Good value.
I found it to be an enjoyable stay with great leisure centre.I found staff to be helpful and co operative and would come again.
Staff very friendly and helpful, very clean, breakfast is a must wide selection. Thanks John and Debbie room 211 two nights
I wish to thank the staff for there wonderful welcome in Portlaois .They feed use both and looked after use very well. The rooms were well equipped and also comfortable. It was both are first time in Portlaois and in the Moldron Hotel. The only problem we found was there was no ATM and there was no way of getting phone credit in the hotel. The gym was wonderful and the were very nice.Had we brought swimwear we know the swim in the pool would be enjoyable. Our stay was short and the town friendly we would never leave.Thank you again for the wonderful stay from the both of use.I would give a star rating of three stars Thomas Carpenter.
Hotel has a budget feeling about it. It is clean and has a good spa area, but reception, rooms and bar/restaurant lack atmosphere. The location with a food court next door and a massive car park is not very appealing.
Staff very friendly and courteous on arrival. Room size was acceptable for a family of 2 adults and 2 children though the bathroom was a little on the small side compared to other hotels I've stayed in. The room could have benefited from a better standard of cleaning (furniture and tv not dusted, biscuits found under the bed, etc etc). The food served was of a high standard and the service provided at meal times was excellent. The leisure facilities were excellent. Again, the staff in this area were very friendly and courteous.
My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 1 night B&B, hotel is lovely, room was clean. We used the pool and sauna/jacuzzi facilities which were lovely, pool was not too deep and ideal for children. We had food in the bar which was lovely, great selection of food for breakfast and all staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is in a very central location .. just off exit 17 in Portloaise, there are also other food outlets to eat connected to the hotel building .. O' Brien sandwichs, Chicken Hut, etc. We will be back :)
Good leisure facilities. Convenient to Cork/Limerick motorway. It's a good 30/40 min. walk from centre of town if you do not have transport. Pity TV is from the last century. Does not have all local channels (eg RTÉ News Now, RTÉ Junior) as it is not digital... come on!
Great experience - visited on Saturday 2nd March 2013. Ten out of ten for John at Reception. Very pleasant welcoming and efficient. The Staff in the Restaurant on the same night were excellent and a beautiful meal was served. Really good value - keep up the good work. Miriam and Tom Taaffe from Meath - would definitely do it again.
Only back from a two night stay at maldron.staff were extremely helpful, food was excellent, rooms were very clean and spacious.Bar was very small and no residence bar which i found very unusual, also there was no music on either of the nights.Over all lovely hotel and we got a great package deal but its more for a quiet relaxing break.
Location is great, just off M8 with several fast foods places next door. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was good, full of flavour and plenty of it. The only downside was eating in the conference room due to a Christmas party in the main restaurant. The experience could easily have been improved by the addition of some tablecloths so that we didn't feel like we were eating dinner at a desk and also by closing the door, which would have minimised the smell of chlorine from the pool. Bedroom was fine, basic but clean and not noisy even facing the motorway. Breakfast was good. Didn't use the leisure facilities. Overall would return to this hotel.
My husband and I wanted to go out for a meal and a drink so we decided to stay in the Maldron as it was close to home. On entering the foyer, my first impression was that it was very basic but clean and the receptionist though not overly friendly was very efficient. Our room was quite spacious and the bathroom looked immaculately clean - until I noticed the stains at the bottom of the shower curtain. We decided to have some tea and a smoke before going down to dinner and opened the window so that we wouldn't have to return to a smoke filled room. It was then that we noticed the really dirty net curtains that were just crying out to be washed. The restaurant was very basic but the meal, which was served by a nice efficient waitress, was quite tasteful. We returned to our room an hour or so later only to discover that the kettle had leaked quite a lot all over the courtesy tray and onto the floor. When my husband phoned reception, another kettle was promptly delivered to our room but this one also leaked. Not wanting to be troublesome, my husband brought the kettle down to reception along with water soaked tray and he was given another tray and kettle. Alas, the tray he was given was in a filthy condition with water marks, tea stains and crumbs on it. This was enough to make us want to go home but due to the fact that we had indulged in a couple of drinks we were obliged to spend the night here and so decided to retire for the night. While my husband was at reception, I noticed that the floors were only vacuumed wherever the vacuum cleaner would fit. There were dust marks under the bedside lockers and quite a lot of dust behind the unit which held the television set. Another surprise awaited us when we pulled back the shams on the bed - the lining on them was full of stains. Next morning we went down to the restaurant just before 7 AM and looked forward to a nice breakfast. There was a great selection of food available but once again I was let down by the stains on top of the toaster and the crumbs and stains on the tray which was supposed to catch the bread when it finished toasting. As it was so early in the morning and we were the only guests in the restaurant at the time, I can only assume that the toaster and tray are rarely if ever cleaned. The breakfast wasn't up to standard either. The cereals were fine but unfortunately the fry was cold.
2 stars there was no music both nights of a bank holiday no atmosphere in the bar nothing for the kids to do i would not be returning .
We recently stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby in Portlaoise. The staff at the hotel were excellent both on the phone & on arrival & throughout our stay. They were friendly, informative with directions, organising taxi's etc. The room itself was bright, spacious, spotlessly clean & very warm & comfortable. Our deal included breakfast which was lovely, plenty to choose from , buffet style & really enjoyable. Would we stay again, yes definitely. Very convenient for the town as only a short drive away & if needing a taxi the fare was only €6. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend.
really enjoyed my stay, staff was very friendly and helpful,
First class staff, all inquiries dealt with swiftly and pleasantly, restaurant very good all meals delicious nothing too much trouble, rooms comfortable, and kept spotless. Special mention for Robbie, Mary and Lulah the chef she makes a perfect pasta. Only negative was the reception and foyer too clinical looks like a doctor or dentist reception area. They helped make a wonderful holiday. 5 stars Agnes & Jim Simpson Blantyre Glasgow
Hi..we as a family of four,(2 adults 2 kids),arrived at d Maldron on Monday afternoon,we were greeted by a really lovely receptionist called Marie..we went to our room to find we were looking out on to a high roof covered in cigarette butts and d room was dark..i asked to b moved as we were staying five nights and again Marie accomadated us to a much nicer room..The kids enjoyed the pool and games room..We had dinner at the hotel that night,we found the restaurant filthy, the lightshades over our table were covered with flies, there were flies in the restaurant..on the back wall there is this art piece and its walking with the dust, very hard to enjoy your breakfast whilst sitting next to it..the carpet was filthy..that was our only night eating there as it was very expensive plus the food was not great,we got garlic mushrooms and they were rock hard,my daughter got the chicken and again that was burnt to a crisp...as for the rest of the week we were gone early mornings and back late evenings...on our last night,(Fri night),there was noise all night on the corridoors outside our room,at one point one of them fell up against our door, they were all totally intoxicated and didnt give a damn about others trying to sleep..my kids were terrified, this was from 12.30 to 1.45am..at 3.30am whether a taxi dropped people off or whether they came from the bar,the noise again was unbelivable, people shouting and being rowdy and the worst thing was noone approached them to say keep it down..none as in staff our the receptionist that night..there definetly should be a porter on for the night to deal with situations like ive just mentioned..To be honest the only good thing i could be positive about was that the kids loved the pool as they would and that Marie the receptionist was most helpful with any queries i had..other than that its not a place for families, its only a stop off for business people staying the one night..the reception we got on the Tuesday morning in the breakfast room and the one we got on the Saturday mornig were miles apart,we found our own way round the first few mornings but on Saturday morning when it was all busy we were shown to our table and wished that we would enjoy our breakfast..the standard drops early week and picks up again for the week-end..not good enough, the standard should be the same no matter what day of the week you are there..suffice it to say we will not be staying there again and will not be recommending it to anyone..
lovely place with fantastic restaurant but staff very scarce
Recently stayed at the maldron hotel portlaoise, found the staff excellence, great food, great value , had a lovely time, Chris
Visited hotel on the weekend of 24th February 2012. Reception stafv were excellent and friendly as were the other staff through out our stay. Leisure facilities were excellent also. One point I would make is that the bedroom was on the cool side. Thanks
Had agrate time. Staff were very frindly and helpfull.Food in restrant was delicious.Only bad point restarant layout and bar no music. Will be back
Only stayed one night.Hotel very good. Rooms spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean.Breakfast very tasty with a very good choice.Would strongly reccomend the Maldron.4 star
Really enjoyed our stay at the Maldron. Staff were very friendly and really helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean. The pool was great and the pool staff were very pleasant. Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious, nice selection for breakfast and all very tasty. Like others have mentioned, the only downfall was the bar - its a small section of the restaurant and does not have residents bar. Other than that I cannot say a bad word about the Hotel. Would definitely go back.
i enjoyed my stay in the maldron.Room was really nice and spacious and bed very comfy! Bar was a let down though. also the lighting in the room was very poor, found it hard to read in the bedroom. staff were friendly and helpfull and i would stay again.
Enjoyed our stay in the Maldron very much. Thanks Lidl
excellent value for money, lovly friendly staff and the room was spotless, great location with food mall next door...only thing the bar closes very early with no residents bar...tony limerick
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, staff where very friendly, rooms where a very good size and the leisure facilities where very good. The only negative things I would say is that the bar was very small and seems to be on top of the restaurant, and the reception design seems to be very cold and uninviting. But I would recommend and go back to this hotel
We had a fantastic weekend and would visit the hotel again. The only thing missing is a residents bar and the services of a night porter.
enjoyed hotel first time staying/staff very nice and very obliging/only problem no residence bar and no music other than that /very good price for what we got will use it again
We Had s 50th wedding anniversary there and had a very good time. There is no residents bar which is a downfall however we were accommadated really well and have no complaints. This was a very good value for money 2 night break away. Thanks to all the staff for their help throughout the weekend
Stayed here 2 nights and the first was on the side near the motor way and we never got a wink of sleep, between the noise and the heat, with no fans available it made our first night a disaster and with a 2yr old child...always thought the Maldron hotels were geared towards children apart from the pool nothin else here for her to do.Staff nice and food in resturant v tastey.
We had a very nice stay recently for two nights at the Maldron Portlaoise. The Hotel was lovely and had everything you would require for a great weekend. I would especially recommend the lesiure facilities which are excellent. Our only small grip was the size of the bar/lounge area which is very small and the area around reception could be made more comfortable and inviting it was a little bare and would have have been nice to have somewhere to relax an read a news paper or sit and chat other than in your room. Over all excellent value and we will definitely try some of the other hotels on the lidl breaks site.
lovely room,, very clean and modern. The restaurant and bar were like a school canteen, all in the one room, no entertainment or atmosphere. Had a nice stay though, about %u20AC8 in a taxi to the town.
NOT BAD BUT VERY DISSAPPOINTING BAR DEFINETLY NOT ONE THAT YOU WOULD SIT BACK AND RELAXING IN.ALL OTHER AREAS GOOD
Perfectly clean, pleasant staff, good size bedroom for family, pool good, breakfast good. Only problem is the bar and restaurant area in the evening and nt. bar v small and the decor would not entice anyone to lounge and have a drink. Also nothing in the area for kids. Leaflets in reception for pet farm in raheen. Got directions from Jessy. Drove there to find it hasn't been open at all this year. Overall we enjoyed the break tho. Kids enjoyed and loved pool. wouldn't go back or recommend this area though. But yes I feel the Lidl breaks are excellent value for money
Lovely hotel with a great leisure area , and very relaxing beauty treament room , rooms are well sized for families , very clean and well kept , staff very friiendly and oblidging , enjoyed our stay .
