However the room was extremely hot the heating was on full blast when we entered the room and no air conditioning which made our stay very uncomfortable. Food at the hotel is very expensive for the standard of food we received the steak sandwich was not edible as it was grisly and unpleasant. The Breakfast at the hotel was nice lots of options available.”

“Reception was great, welcome brilliant . Room for the price was perfect, comfortable etc , safe, tv, shower etc all very clean . We had evening dinner in hotel and food was spot on. Great service again and food was very good. Only reason I knocking 1 star off was breakfast, we booked 9.15 am , the food id say was cooked since first thing, rashers , sausages etc and scrambled egg was cold... maybe an idea in low season to cook it in stages? But all in all great hotel for the money and great welcome.”

“Hotel itself is lovely. Excellent breakfast with great staff. A bit of a let down when radiator in bathroom didn't work, which made bedroom cold also, it was a cold November night about 0'. The Manager on duty did try to but failed to get it fixed. Room was near double doors which I heard shut everytime somebody used them so constantly slamming all night. Did pass this on to front line staff in morning and girl on duty was lovely and knew about radiator from previous night but man on front desk not so, rather gruff and said 'what more do you want me to do but apologise' and that was all but maybe a little lighter in his delivering of it would have been better.”

“I was disappointed with my stay in this hotel. We stayed in a ground floor room, there was constant noise from 6:30am with staff moving trolleys etc pass our window. Also, my girlfriend asked twice for a hairdryer that worked. She was reassured after the second time that one would be delivered to her but unfortunately it wasn't in the end. Luckily I got deal for my stay in the hotel as otherwise we would have been very disappointed.”

There was an Irish Convention taking place and a group of people dressed up, known locally I understand as "The Biddys". Nice and lively, very entertaining so well done. We had dinner in the restaurent and we were served my Miguel who was most pleasant, very efficient and an asset to the Heights Hotel. Top marks also to Mr Chef, food was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Breakfast the following morning could not be faulted. We enjoyed our stay at the Heights and look forward to returning in the not too distant future. Thanks to all for making our week-end most enjoyable,”

“Pros: Location is superb for touring the sights around Killarney and easy to find from the main road. The hotel was good value for money. Lovely stony exterior of the hotel in the authentic West of Ireland style. The interiors are done in a charming country manor style with authentic antique furniture pieces dotted here and there. Great dÃ©cor of the bar and restaurants with exposed stone walls, fireplaces, traditional Irish dressers and dark wooden beams on the ceiling. Spacious and clean family room with a bath and a shower in the bathroom. Good quality beds. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Good hearty breakfast. Ample parking outside the hotel. Cons: The dÃ©cor of the room slightly dated. There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom though it was clean. There were only 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels supplied in the bathroom while the room was booked for 2 adults and 1 child. Toilet could not be flushed unless the cover was down, otherwise it was in the way. The view from the room was onto the big puddle on the roof of the lower storey. The duvets were totally inadequate for the hot room (way too hot) and the sheets were not available as a cover option. And last but not least, the famous West of Ireland hospitality did not quite manifest itself in this hotel. The only exception was the staff at breakfast on the 2nd of November who were all friendly, helpful and smiling, asking if we'd like a cup of tea,etc. All the others were either aloofly polite or just ignoring us. It took us about 30 minutes to get served tea at breakfast on the 3rd of November. Last year we stayed in Quality Hotel right across the road from the Heights Hotel and the staff there were way friendlier and more helpful.”

Hotel was just lovely, very clean rooms and lovely views over the mountain ranges, really nice bar and restaurant (meal was very impressive for a two course offer), loads and loads of little nooks and crannys to sit down and relax downstairs, staff were so lovely in Reception, Restaurant and Night Porter lovely fella. Only downfall for us were the male staff in the Bar, no welcome and didn't listen to the orders, hence wrong drink and forgot desert for one person and we had to ask for cutlery. Only hiccup but didn't ruin what was a fabulous stay. We will be back.”

Was waken by the crazy banging from next door, lucky it only lasted about 90 seconds. Staff: friendly and helpful, like the accent. Breakfast: Decent. Overall: will visit again as reasonable price.”

“Cons: There was no WiFi available in the hotel and there was a problem with 3G connection in the room. They changed the restaurant where they served a breakfast in a middle of our stay. The menu was very simple and limited. The bathroom was poorly stocked with just a soap. The instant coffee in the room was horrible. Instead of a window there were only balcony door and all the passing people could look into your room if the curtains were open. The lady in the reception was not able to provide information about the local attractions. The hotel is not really close to the town centre, it is actually quite a distance. I would not recommend this hotel if you want to stay a lot inside. The room seemed quite dark, even with all the lights on. The room was definitely too small for a 2+2 family. Pros: The staff was really nice, especially in the restaurants and the bar. Meals were simple but quite good and tasty. The hotel was quiet. The price was very good. It can be a hotel if you plan to travel around Kerry and spend a lot of time outside and just come back for a night rest and only for a short stay.”

Had a lovely meal as part of DBB deal- it was delicious - starter, main course, tea or coffee - more than we could eat. A drink or two in the bar then which had few customers being a Monday night but still a good atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely also - great variety of yogurts, fresh fruit, cereals & cooked breakfast. Quick service which suited us as we were heading to a business meeting. Would recommend it!”

The Dinner was absolutely gorgeous, great selection and amazing food! Breakfast was fantastic! A Buffet with so many options, from Fruit, Juices, Cereals to Full Irish Breakfast, we ate enough to last us for the day!!! Room was very clean, modern and comfortable! Will definitely be back, and would recommend to anyone!!!”

“We stayed at this hotel for 2 night. The first night was very noisy. We could hear what seemed to be water being carted around in wheelie bins and so much shouting between the staff who were under pressure to have water for the bar. I understand that the water supply had been cut off to all hotels and private dwellings in KIllarney on that night so the need to keep water underneath our bedroom window was not the fault of the hotel. A little more consideration would have been nice. The room and the hotel were very clean and the shower was wonderful!”

“What a wonderful hotel, receptionist was an absolute star!! our booking got lost in the system and she made had it all sorted out for us in just a few minutes, room was beautiful clean and spacious. Dinner was excellent. I woulkd recommend this hotel to anyone considering a trip to killarney. having booked with lidl breaks it gave my husband and I a lovely night away for 98 euro!!! with three kids those times alone together are precious and with value for money and a beautiful hotel with fantastic staff and accomodation what more could you for. ”

“I really enjoyed my stay in the Heights Hotel. I went for a girly night with my daughter, my mother, my sister and her two girls. We ate a delicious meal there after arriving and later on we spent a couple of hours in the bar where my mother met two old friends also from Co Clare. Enjoyed our breakfast next morning. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Lidl breaks are wonderful value. Booking is so easy and what was very thoughtful, the hotel gave us adjoining rooms so we had plenty of space. Thanks to Lidl and the Heights Hotel for a lovely bonding family time.”
