Lovely hotel lovely friendly staff and the location is great
We had a lovely stay here, the bar staff where extremely friendly, especially the young lad tall and blonde, making the cocktails, sorry I didn't get his name, hotel room very comfortable and I terror of hotel really beautiful, check in & check out very smooth, we will be back
Ideal for an overnight stay in dundalk Room was fab Breakfast was very good Staff were helpful Overall good value for money Would definitely stay here again
Pity about restaurant and reception refurbishments as lots of cold breezes in foyer and bar/restaurant
Room was fabulous. Food was excellent. Need a separate bar area from the Food area for better relaxing.
Staff very friendly and will do all they can to help. I had a great break and will be back again
We would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the room was lovely.
Lovely room, good food, friendly staff, very quiet at night. Very good breakfast, plenty of parking.
I feel the bar was not cleared enough found tables dirty other than that all ok

Staff very welcoming and very helpful. Accommodation excellent. Would definitely come back
Friendly staff, clean facilities and reasonable rates. Wide variety and choice of tasty food for breakfast. Scenic Sea views from the upper levels. I would recommend this hotel for a one or two night break.

This hotel is good value. room on 10th floor was clean with 2 double beds, food was ok but could be hotter, hotel is a bit out of the town so would not suit every body. staff were friendly and helpful
Booked hotel for two nights, very good value presently. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, helpful staff. Room was good size, clean and comfortable bed. A taxi ride into town for bars etc. It may have been a 4star once, but i wouldn’t agree with that marking now, but they’re doing their best in trying times. You get what you pay for, and I’m happy enough to say it was worth it for us.
The Gateway Hotel Dundalk exceeded my expectations! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, with modern amenities. The restaurant served delicious meals, and the location was convenient for exploring Dundalk. I highly recommend it!
Lovely hotel, rooms warm and comfy, parking great, good location, would go back again. One negative a glass of wine 10e, really the most expensive I've seen anywhere. Breakfast served until 11am.
Very good hotel
Very good hotel
Can't fault it
Plaza .This hotel is a landmark in Dundalk being the highest building in the town. It is conveniently situated on the N52 and is great for getting onto the M1 and also into the town itself. Only 20 minutes from Drogheda or Newry. It is modern and all rooms are well equipped. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the wonderful view from both our room with a lovely queen sized bed and plenty of space and the restaurant with its delicious food, with the warm friendly efficient staff. We will be back very soon again ! 5 Star rating
Stayed at the crowne Plaza Dundalk for one night recently wished I could have stayed longer . This is a beautiful Hotel the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Will definitely return to this Hotel again. Staff were so nice and friendly they could not do enough .Hats off to management and staff at this Hotel they certainly are on top of their game . We had dinner in the bar as part of the package and this was lovely. Only complaint is that we may have gained a few pounds while staying here as the food was plentiful and so good .
fair, stayed 1 night had dinner on that night in the bar , ordered and paid for drinks when we ordered our meal, food was excellent but the staff serving it weren't in tune with each other as we left the bar after the meal a waitress came running after us accusing us of not paying for our meal as we giving our room number when we entered the bar they should have known we had this included in hotel stay. said it at reception following morning and was offered complimentary tea as apology .a bit of put off really!
Great deal for 4adults and 3 kids.We were given adjoining rooms, which were very modern and good sizes too.Lovely food and amazing staff, couldn't have been more helpful from check to dinner and of course breakfast, despite the fact there were a lot of rug rats running around,3 of them mine, they continued to smile.Would go back again!
This was our 2nd time to visit the Crowne Plaza Hotel and it didn't disappoint! Staff are friendly and efficient. Rooms are a good slze and were spotless, we were on the 8th floor and it was lovely and quiet. Breakfast is served on the 13th floor where you get a fantastic view out to the sea and surrounding mountains, perfect way to start the day. Lovely hotel and perfectly placed to visit surrounding areas of Carlingford, Newry and on to Belfast. We will be staying here again!
Stayed here mid week, very nice hotel with very nice staff. big bed rooms that are above normal standards , Bath with separate shower, Restaurant on the 13th floor with fab views. Very good hotel over all. Will be back Frank C
Lovely spacious room with a fantastic view from the floor to ceiling window. Spotlessly clean. Our meal and breakfast were included in our Lidl breaks deal and both were delicious. Located right off the motorway which was perfect for me as I was there on business. However it is only a short drive into the town of Dundalk also. Would definately stay here again if I'm in the area.
My husband & I stayed here for one night on the Dinner, B& B offer in January 2014. Every aspect of our stay was most enjoyable & we were pleasantly surprised to discover Wi-Fi is now available throughout the entire hotel.Staff were most helpful & the breakfast was extensive for both Continental palates ( it included pastries which another review said it did not) & the Full Irish was enough to satisfy the hungriest individual, with very tasty sausages ( again mentioned negatively by a previous guest). We would heartily recommend this hotel to the most discerning customer.
Excellent requested accessible room and was provided no problem. Staff and service excellent
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Dundalk for one night. I have to say that everything from the food to the room was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly, cannot fault this hotel in any way.
Excellent hotel, everything perfect. We stay here twice a year & it is always top class. Rooms spacious & beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed for a good nights sleep, evening meal delicious as buffet breakfast top class. We will keep coming back!
Enjoyed my stay staff very helpful and friendly, The food was excellent. The room was top class I will definitely come back again.
Found the hotel very friendly and clean! Dinner in the restaurant was lovely and cooked really well on both nights. Only had dinner up in the room 1 morning and it was very fresh. Would most defiantly recommend this hotel!!
Wonderful hotel, staff very friendly and the most comfortable beds ever.
wonderful hotel...friendly staff ....amazing bed so comfortable you dont want to get out of it ! excelent value for money..
Lovely 4star hotel, ideal for Adults, Great views. Only spoiler, rooftop restaurant closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Fab hotel food was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful room view was lovely decor of the room and bed so comfie and welcoming. Resturant view on 13th floor was amazing and it was snowing monday morning added to it. Personally only dropping at star becuase there was no pool or spa facilites a crying pity other than that perfect hotel but found a fab place mizu 5 mins in dundalk town.
We stayed in the Crown Plaza in Dundalk recently, it deserves top marks, comfortable beds, the restaurant and food on the 13th floor were amazing. Looking forward to going back there. Ann Wexford
Lovely hotel, brillant food and very friendly staff. 4 star hotel with 5 star service
Have stayed in Crown Pllaza Dundalk on several occasions, booking via Lidl-Breaks. Last week-end we availed of B/B & 1 dinner package. Check-in was very efficient, informative and friendly. The hotel itself is classy, clean and presents as a relaxing place. Room spacious, clean and well equipped. The service staff in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast were extremely professional, friendly and corteous. Compliments to the chef for the presentation and quality of the food on Friday evening it was excellent. Breakfast is always a very relaxed affair, great selection of foods, and again top class and friendly service. Look forward to our next stay!
Convenient location on the outskirts of the town with ample free parking. Rather dark reception which I felt was rather lacking in atmosphere. After a bit of searching found the lovely bar and quiet seating area but this is not immediately obvious from the main reception area. Signage of some kind might help here. A rather combersome check in as Brendan on Reception seemed to have no details of my booking with Lidl Breaks. I felt that he spoke to me as though he was on the telephone as he continually said 'just one moment please'. I had requested a 'quiet room' and was allocated room no 1111. While it was well away from the lifts it was overlooking the main road and the noise from the traffic made it impossible to leave the window open. Yes there was air conditioning in the bedroom but it can be nice to sleep with the window open. Not an option here despite requesting a 'quiet room'. Honestly I just did not have the energy to traipse all the way back to Reception from the 11th floor to request a room change. I genuinely believed that the staff on Reception would be adequately acquainted with the hotel layout and know where the quiet bedrooms are located - to the back of the hotel. Very disappointing. The bedroom itself was lovely. Very nice white fluffy towels. There were 2 hand towels and 2 mid sized towels. More towels are essential especially when 2 women are showering and washing their hair. Nice quality toiletries. Nice pillows. The duvets were disappointing. A dead weight. I was too hot so I removed the duvet to use the cover on its own and I was horrified to discover that the duvet was badly discoloured - quite disgusting. There were tea and coffee facilities. May I suggest adding a small pack of 2 x shortbread - a nice addition and available in some hotels. The mini bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. €1.40 for a small toblerone. Breakfast is served on the 13th floor with an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. Very tasty. Excellent selection and very friendly staff. An overall pleasant experience with one or two things that can be improved on before my next visit as I will be back in Dundalk on business in the near future. Thank you.
We stayed in the Crowne Plaza for 2 nights in the end of October. Checking in was very efficient and reception staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and clean. We didnt eat in the evenings but breakfast was lovely with a great choice of foods available. Only one member of staff served tea/coffee at breakfast time she was very busy but was cheerful and helpful (Lea). Free large car park and all mod cons in room. It is a lovely hotel we have stayed there 3 times and will definately return.
Lovely hotel, some excellent staff. I booked a one night B&B with evening meal based on my previous enjoyment of the hotel and it's 13th Floor Restaurant. On arrival we were informed that the top floor restaurant only opens Thurs to Sat and we would have to eat in the bar. To be honest I was very disappointed cos had I know this I would have booked a different date. The food in the bar was not great, my partners fish was inedible and had to be returned, my burger wasn't great either. My educated guest would be that they were reheated. In the waiters defence he didn't charge us for the fish but this didn't make up for the fact that my partner had no dinner. Although the bar was very quiet some customers found it difficult to get served cos some of the staff were far too interested in watching X factor on the tv's. We ordered breakfast to our room, unfortunately they only supplied one set of cutlery and by the time it had been replaced (10 minutes) my already luke warm breakfast was cold. I did mention all of the above to reception on my way out and she asked if I'd like to make a formal complaint, I chose not to because by this time I was just fed up. Lovely hotel, great beds, some lovely staff but lots of room for improvement.
Stayed as a group of 4 young couples in the Crown Plaza dundalk for 1 Night Dinner & Breakfast 6th October, I have nothing negative to say about the Hotel. Room was modern & Very clean, restaurant is on 13th Floor of Hotel with beautiful view, Dinner menu had ample choice & when it arrived was delicious, which was not expected as dinner was part of our value deal, service was 5 Star. Music in the bar until very late, Will definately be returning, the rest of my group would too.
we found everything great about this hotel escept two of the breakfast staff who were very rude and did'nt seem to believe us that breakfast was included which would have been 16 euro very over priced as asking for more tea seemed to cause one of the girls a near heart attack
Availed of the lidl deal 1night b&b&dinner, the dinner was lovely and great value for money. Service at the hotel was very good. Food was lovely both dinner and breakfast. Room was immaculate and the bed comfortable. Only thing was the TV didnt have much channels to choose from, I spent the day in the room so this was an issue for me. Overall would recommend this hotel and lidl break....
By N and G Stayed for one night in the Crown Plaza Dundalk. We were very impressed overall with hotel. Staff friendly and food good with a beautiful view from the restaurant on the 13th floor. We would have no hessitation returning here. Great deal from Lidl hotel breaks. Thank you.
We enioyed our stay at this hotel Breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpfull Both rooms were tastefully furnished and very quiet ample parking Hotel is very convenient for Dundalk town Bath towels were a little worn other than that can find no fault in room or bathroom We had an evening meal in the resteraunt food was very good but found staff brisk and impatient did not want to interact
Lovely Hotel, We stayed in a really big spacious twin room with two big comfy double beds. Food was really good and the view from the 13th floor is amazing very close to all the shopping outlets and town Staff were very friendly and welcoming only down side was that there werent many channels on the tv All in all a lovely hotel
Enjoyed the weekend in this hotel Beds very comfortable, rooms very quiet, AC worked well as rooms were very warm Breakfast was very nice great choices and very fresh Staff at front desk and at breakfast were very helpfull and pleasent but staff in resteraunt were brisk and very little interaction but meal was very good Excellent value as was meal for 2 in resteraunt
Really enjoyed staying at the hotel. The bedrooms are among the most comfortable I've stayed in. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the lack of a pool, but it wasn't important to this particular stay. Four stars
Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and standard of food in the beautiful restaurant on the 13th floor was possibly one of the best experiences we have ever had. Fantastic value for money. We will be returning soon again. Highly recommend this hotel.
I ejoyed the experience. I was mislead by the way the LIDL promotion ad was written.I.e. It steted 98 euro for two people for two nights. But it turned out to be 98euro pps.as far as I could understand it was double what I believed it to be. The service was superb the staff were amazing . The food was very good . The ambience was very good. I was impressed by the names of the restaurant. Maybe you shoul d look at the way your ad is worded.ihope this hellps. Thank you.
Fabulous hotel at a great price! Excellent service, lovely room, very clean. Couldn't ask for more. Would highly recommend it!
The hotel was great value. Spacious bedrooms. Staff were very friendly.
had a wonderfull time hotel is top class loved it
Great room; Great staff; wonderful food and overall a fantastic experience. Would definitely go back.
excellent..at all
We had a great break and the hotel was everything was just as we expected , but my wife found the bed a bit to high for her to get into as she is only 5 ft herself . so a bit of thought is needed for people of that height using your hotels. we were part of a group up for a wedding in Drumconrath in Co Meath and the reception in Ballymasclanlon House Hotel ,so your Hotel was perfect for reaching both on the day. Thank you for a great stay. Mr & Mrs James Hannigan.
Great hotel, staff excellent, breakfast top notch
Very impressive hotel. Stunning views of Dundalk Bay and Cooley Mountains from 13th floor restaurant. Staff helpful and friendly. Accommodation excellent and food very good. No complaints.
Great hotel,nice customer service,perfect..
I thought this hotel was fabulous. Great service from the employees, the 14th restaurant was great and the breakfast Inthe morning was buffet. So all good, however ... I paid the holding deposit to Lidl-breaks and on the day the hotel required the full payment completed. My son had booked this for us for his dad's 70th and they asked us to settle the bill. So we explained and they called him. He then completed payment. All fine, except as Lidl-breaks don't pass the payment/card details on the hotel said they can't take it and said to email them the card details ! My son is a Fraud Compliance Specialist and couldn't believe this as he said it's a golden rule never to put card details I'n an email. This carries a serious potential security risk, obviously. None of us like this at all. They could have taken the details over the phone or have a connection with Lidl-breaks. This was a huge negative for all of us.
We stayed here on the Meal Package, was really nice. The Hotel staff were lovely. Will stay again
Just back from 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza Dundalk. Lovely time. Excellent room overlooking the bay. Bed was so comfortable. I had a meal each evening in the restaurant on the 14th Floor and found the food and service also excellent. We made it a point to compliment the chef on the first evening. I would recommend this hotel anytime.
We picked this hotel from a list of hotels available for the May bank holiday weekend. We were very impressed. We had dinner in the restaurant on the 13th floor. Wonderful place, you could see the mountains an the sea, even though it was a dull evening. We had two courses - dinner and dessert - as we had been a bit greedy at lunchtime. We both had hake which as presented in a most attractive and delicious manner. Dessert was finger-lickin good. Breakfast was more than adequate - a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurts, cheese, cold meats and a beautiful full Irish for those who wanted to indulge. Excellent breads and pastries were also available and the chef was on hand to fry eggs fresh from the pan. The bedroom was as good and better than we have found in Ireland or on our many trips abroad. Excellent broadband and a T.V. with all the stations one could ask for. We will be back.
Spent a night in the Crowne Plaza on May 5th 2012. Easy to get to location. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. We spent some time in the bar which had a really great atmosphere. Will go back again some time.
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Dundalk on 27th April for two nights with my husband and two children. The reception staff were very welcoming, efficent and helpful. Our room was large, extremely comfortable and bathroom was modern with bath and seperate shower. The restaurant is on the top floor with superb views for miles around. Staff friendly and service was fast. This is a lovely hotel and i would be happy to recommend it.
10 out 10. Staff were very friendly. Our stay was very relaxing. Will certainly call back again soon
Stayed in Crown Plaza Dundalk on 21st April, Staff were v friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful, bed so comfy, we were on 8th floor, view was lovely. Breakfast de next morning was absolutely lovly. couldnt fault dis hotel in any way. hoping to take de kids nxt time for a little treat, with the cheap rates we cud afford to do dat!!! class hotel!!!
Stayed here at the weekend as was attendin a family christenin in dundalk!! It was a fantastic hotel!! Really enjoyed my stay here beds were so so comfy only wish I got to stay longer!!!;-)
I have stayed in quite a few nice Irish Hotels during the summer but this one was the nicest of all. All of the staff were just so friendly and helpful. The bar staff were especially nice and couldn't do enough for you. The food was delicious and the view from the resturant was wonderful am just waiting for a chance to stay there again
We stayed on Fri night - a spotless room very friendly staff and yummy food- thank you so much. Breeda Browne Five stars for sure
Excellent hotel. Food was good, the room was lovely and clean. The staff were very helpful. Would look forward to staying again.
Beautiful spacious room. Comfortable beds and gorgeous breakfast. Loved the views on the top floor. Really enjoyed our stay. M&L, Galway
Great Hotel. Easily accessible and very accommodating. Will definitely return for another stay :)
Beautiful Hotel in a very quiet area of Dundalk food was beautiful, I will stay at this hotel again.,
Really enjoyed our night away. A nice, modern hotel with lovely comfortable rooms and tasty food. A great value break.
Very nice hotel, room was perfect can't fault it. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Food was very nice. Shower etc very good. Also hotelsinone.ie very good website by far the best I have come across. Would normally use booking.com 4 star rating
As we arrived, we weren't greeted very well by the lady on Reception. Didn't seem to smile much throughout the check-in process. Although the Bar Staff were exceptional helpful. The pricing of the drinks weren't too expensive either. We had a meal in the Restaurant on the 13th floor. Meal for 2 for 50euro (3 course meal & a bottle of wine for 50euro). We weren't informed that there was a supplement charge of 3.50euro each to serve the steak. Even though I was informed by one of the waitresses that there was no charge. Breakfast ok, but sausages didn't taste too great. No pastries displayed for breakfast which is odd for 4 star hotels. Apart from this, the stay was good.
just stayed in crowne plaza last saturday nite fabulous hotel ,rooms top class and food gorgeous especially breakfast. The only down point was no music in bar saturday nite which left the place really boring.
Plus: Nice Room, Friendly staff, Beatiful breackfast area. Nice location to visit the Mourne Mountains in the North, Carlingford for a good nite out, fish restaurant and a bit of craic Minus: The Hotel is a bit isolated and quite faraway from the Dundalk city centre (you need a car ootherwise you must get a taxi)
;We stayed here for one night on the 30th December and we couldnt find fault with this hotel, rooms very modern and clean, loved the shower, food excellent and lovely views from restaurant, and bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!! Will definitely be returning.
Great Hotel Great Value thanks to Lidl
This was our second Lidl Break at Crowne Plaza.(The first break included meal, chocolates and sparkling wine on arrival, this deal I considered better value!!!) We were reminded again by staff, how good a value the Lidl deals are,( they probably shop in Lidl too !!!) We enjoyed the hotel resturant special. However we did have an issue over how the Resturant manager (Sabastian) should process the paper work. I believe a little more customer service form him would be of benefit to the Hotel chain. His approach I believe was, arrogant sharp and abrupt with no appreciation for customers position.Overall the standard of the hotel and the staff is high (compared to others). from a Worldwide wide chain, this is expected. What a shame that a little more professional attention from a person in a management position should spoil an otherwise good rating.
We had a great time in the Crowne Plaza Dundalk. We have been on many occasions previous to this visit. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and airy. The food is very good, however, the staff need to lighten up a little. We had some children in our party and I would say they need to be a little more tolerant, especially in the restaurant.
Had a lovely evening in the Crowne Plaza..Rooms were very comfortable and the beds were very good.Would definitely recommend
My second time staying here with Lidl Breaks and hotel lived up to my previous experience of excellent service, very comfortable room, lovely breakfast and warm welcoming staff. It was very much appreciated that I wasn't reminded this time by reception how much I was saving by staying as a Lidl Break customer. I regularly stay take weekend breaks away both here in Ireland and abroad and know how good the offer is without being reminded. The lady on reception was warm, attentive and efficient and the hotel offered a welcome opportunity for rest and relaxation. Highly recommend this hotel.
We were a group of 13 who booked the Lidl deal to the Crowne plaza w/e 12th Nov. Hotel was greatly deserving of its 4 star status. Rooms were lovely, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Restaurant food was delicious, Unusually for a hotel it had a lot of locals dinign there as they do some good offers, so there was a good buzz and atmosphere. The breakfast was the icing on the cake. Top notch. We will definitely be back and hopefully on a Lidl deal as you cant beat it for value. Staff also very nice and courteous. We had the same waitress for breakfast as we had the night before for dinner and she was still smiling and pleasant at breakfast.
I loved this hotel. My family and I travel up from Cork to Newry area about 3 times a year and have stayed ina different hotel until last week. . We are now sold on this hotel and will stay there from now on. The staff are lovely and were very kind to my 5 year old. The rooms are large and are spotless. I seen cleaning staff in other rooms while passing and they were cleaning every surface. the beds were fresh and large and very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower and bath and was lovely. The breakfasts were buffet and the food was good. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only reason i gave it a 4 and not a 5 star is that it has no swimming pool and also, there was no restaurant service on sunday and monday nights, which coincidentally were the two nights we stayed and so we had to leave the hotel to eat as we didn't want bar food. Overall, very good and good value for money.
We booked 15 rooms for a surprise 50th and 60th birthday bash. !!!!!! It was fantastic.!!!!!!!! The rooms, food, and staff were all superb, we couldn't praise them enough. Thanks to all at The Crowne Plaza DUndalk, we'll be back. Deirdre Gaire
Really enjoyed my stay there. The room was lovely and the service was superb. The meal was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.Fantastic value at 49 euro
Spent a lovely night in the hotel last Friday. Room was nicely decorated spacious and we had a great view from our room on the ninth floor when we woke up on Saturday morning. Food was good and we found the staff very attentive and helpful. definately recommend this hotel
Great value for a top class hotel ,staff were very friendly and the view while having breakfast was breathtaking we will certainly be back. Thanks to the lidl breaks team for offering this wonderful hotel.
Hotel was very good would stay again
excellent hotel with good food, accomodation bar and restaurant is excellent. very friendly staff. easy to find and well located. look forward to returning again - soon. with a swimming pool it would be a 5 star hotel pat
I would reccomend The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk to anyone. The evening meal was superb and the breakfast was out of this world. The staff were extremely friendly and very very helpful and polite. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable.I really have to praise all aspects of the Lidl break in this hotel and cant wait to go again. K. Mc Cullagh
This was our second time in 6 months taking a LIDL break at the Crowne Plaza, Dundalk. The hotel is lovely, beautiful, clean, spacious rooms. Staff very friendly and courteous. The food at breakfast is excellent and the food in the bar was very good too. Our only disappointment was that the dining room was not open on Sunday or Monday evening for dinner, which we really love on holiday. This was a big disappointment as we like the sit and relax over the food and enjoy a good bottle of wine and we don't find the bar conducive to that kind of evening. Perhaps guests could be advised of this fact in advance of arrival. Otherwise we loved our break and will be back to Crowne Plaza Dundalk. Many thanks Terri Coonan
Really enjoyed our stay in Crowne Plaza, the staff in the hotel were very attentive and friendly. The view from Roof top restaurant was amazing, especially by night. I would definately recommend it for value for money and quality. It is a little bit away from Dundalk (5 mins by car) but the bar in the hotel is very nice.
fiirst time entry into room, open door, disgusting brown marks on carpet.bathroom, went to close shower door came off, worn and loose front top pulley, bottom corner of door banged down on floor inside shower could have caused nasty injury. reported as safety hazard that afternoon. bodged repair job done next day, door still not sliding properly. kettle dirty spatters on front not cleaned over our 4 day stay [not used by us] dirty mark on bed cover from arrival until departure. first night main light in room not working, managed to get this working, stayed working for remainder of stay. conclusion rooms not being checked properly, if at all, leaving serious safety and health concerns. staff in reception-bar-restaurant were excellent. left a letter for the manager expressing concern about room issues on our departure thurs 11th aug. not even a phone call to date.they dont seem to care!!
Nice hotel, friendly staff, beautyfull view from my room (9 floor)
Hotel was most satisfactory in all respects.Fine room fitted to a high standard. Food was very good and staff were particularly helpful. First Lidl break.v Good value.
Excellent price for top-class service. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were very friendly. Only complaint was that we booked for 3 people and the room only had towels for 2. Tea/Coffee making facilities only for 2 also. The hotel bar food and restaurant were superb. We will definitely be staying again and will be using Lidl-Breaks more often also.
Amazing hotel, good location. About 20 minutes from Newry if you want to go shopping. Staff are brilliant and room is really really nice. The only thing that was a bit of a let down was that you could only get a two course meal and not a three course meal, which meant choosing either starter or desert with your main.
Gorgeous spacious rooms with all the luxuries. Staff friendly and helpful except for the man on reception when we checked in. Breakfast was self service with a lovely selection and great choice. Will be staying again.
great hotel and a great price
Very comfortable, easy to find right off motorway and proper breakfast. Not complaints, though it would have been nice to have a few biscuits in the rooms, to have with the tea. Saying that the hotel was at the high end of Irish 4 star (much higher than continental 4 star), for 3 star prices.
Very comfortable room. Excellent bathroom. Really liked the shower. Superb breakfast. Wasn't informed there was a gym in the Lidl ad however and would have brought gym gear if I had known. Staff very helpful and informative. Would definitely use again if in the area
I stayed at the crowne plaza on a weekend break which included breakfast each morning and 1 evening dinner. I couldnt complain about any aspect of the service we received. Reception was helpful, rooms were clean and tidy, food was good. its a little bit out of town but not a big deal. All in all, great value.
lovely hotel, great staff, great size rooms, love the lidl deals!
Beautiful Hotel,Excellent Service,Poor choice on Lidl breaks menu,but not a problem,Super breakfast,Would definatley use this hotel again,Great value break,Thank you !
lovely hotel, very well located and has a great breakfast! Bar food was very good too but doesn't have Sky Sports in bar. Have stayed 3 times in this hotel now and will stay again in the future. Great value with Lidl breaks.
had a lovely stay , would love to do a two night stay next time. The staff were very nice and the room was beautifull. Would definitly recommend it.
Great hotel Staff was friendly and I really enjoyed staying in this hotel top class luxury...
We enjoyed our stay in the Crowne Plaza, lovely food, lovely room, very nice helpful staff and great value.
we enjoyed ourselves, very good staffs, excellent food and to crown it all my two children had their breakfast free for the three days. thank you crowne plaza, thank you lid. Real value for money
We stayed in this hotel for the first time on the 19th of March, and we were not sure how things would work out.The hotel itself is really new and everything is kept clean and sharp. The reception staff are only the first of the many attentive, friendly and professional hotel-staff we met. Our room was first-class,and the facilities in it were the same. We dined in the Farenheit restaurant,as part of the Lidl-deal and, again, the staff were so anxious to make the experience as good and relaxing as possible:the food was presented in the manner of a top-rated restaurant and tasted as good as it looked! We will be going back to this hotel as soon as possible.Thank you to all the staff. Michael..Dublin
we enjoyed our stay in the crown plaza. the hotel was very clean and the food was excelent . great value for money
Rooms very comfortable, the most amazingly comfortable hotel bed I've slept in. Breakfast very good. Receptionist late at night on the night we stayed were particularly rude, however, overall we enjoyed our stay. would certainly recommend it and would stay again.
had a lovely 2 night break with Breakfast at this hotel. Hotel was 4* throughout from the service, staff, room and restaurants. I had requested a room away from the road and was delighted that the hotel had given me a quiet room away from the road. the little touch of the water in the room, little choc mints and robes all added up to give us a wonderful break. though theres little to view in the immediate surroundings it makes a great base for a visit to the noth east. I would reccomend it and the lidl breaks makes it fantastic value. people should use the lidl breaks for really great deals!
The room was very nice, my only grip was the menu for the dinner,,,the choice wasn't great & limited and steak was extra (%u20AC4.50)..But the breakfast was very good and the staff were nice,,Value for Money,,I would come back.
Hi Stayed 2 nights excellent staff lovely food great stay would go back
Hotel is great, only about 50 minutes from Dublin, 2 minutes from the M1. Very impressive on entering and the rooms were fantastic, I have never slept in such a big comfortable bed. The food in restaurant was equally as good, and unlike another reviewer we had no problem having our meal in the restaurant which was also booked with Lidl-breaks. I would highly recomend this hotel, and if driving it is about 20 minutes to Carlingford which is also worth a visit. I have booked about 3 hotels and cannot fault LIDL-BREAKS FOR THEIR VALUE FOR MONEY! Fiona, Dublin.
The Crowne Plaza Dundalk is an up to date, modern, easy to get to Hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable (and came with a very good lage bed). The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of both hot and cold food. The location was spot on for relatively quick and easy acces to the Cooley penninsula with Carlingford just about a half hour's drive away. The Lidl Break deal was top value and we stayed for three nights. If the opportunity arises again, we will definitely avail of it.
Great location, dinner and breakfast was great. Bedroom spacious and clean. Staff very helpful and corteous. Look forward to staying there again in the future. 5 star
Lidl are wonderful value for money. Straightforward booking process, no delays, complications or problems. Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk is well run, clean, good food, friendly helpfull staff and really nice, warm, comfortable rooms with great views. Patricia, Feb 2011
The pluses: Very nice hotel, modern, clean, bright, nicely decorated. Check-in was smooth and polite. Our room was lovely and a good size, the big queen size bed was very very comfortable. The location was good, on the outskirts of Dundalk and very close to the M1. The restaurant is on the 13th floor which gives good views of the area. The restaurant food was excellent. We used our Lidl voucher on the first night which entitled us to a two course meal. We went for desert and wine and coffee which added %u20AC50 to the bill which was reasonable. The second night we went for the a la carte menu - the food was excellent again and the service was lovely. We were with another couple and all four meals, starters, main courses and deserts were all very good, no complaints whatsoever. The minuses: Our bedroom was really really cold when we checked in. We turned on the heat immediately but when we went back to the room hours later the room was still very cold. I had to wear a fleece in bed for a few hours. We left the heat on all day the next day and the temperature in the room was then grand. We also found the bar quite cold and a bit lacking in atmosphere. We brought our coffees down from the restaurant to the bar on the first night but had to take them to our room as the bar was so cold. In our experience four star hotels have a spa or at least a swimming pool, which the Crowne Plaza didn't. Overall: I would go back and I would recommend this hotel.
HELLO.YES WE HAD A LOVELY STAY AT THE HOTEL IN DUNDALK CO LOUTH.VERY NICE.HAD A FAB MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT ON THE 13TH FLOOR.WOW WHAT A VIEW FROM THERE.AND THE FOOD WAS LOVELY.FROM NOW ON IM BOOKING ALL OUR STAYS AT THE PLAZA HOTEL WITH THE LIDL BREAKS ITS GREAT VALUE.. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.STAFF WERE GREAT.
Spent last Sat & Sun on a very good value Lidl-break in the Crowne Plaza, Dundalk. Beautiful room & bathroom & very comfy bed. Breakfasts were great in the lovely Fahrenheit restaurant setting. The only problem we experienced was that the dinner vouchers were for the bar only. The menu & food were very limited. Due to a special all-in menu for Valentines on the Sunday night we were disappointed not to be able to try the Fahrenheit restaurant for dinner& had to ear in the bar again.
Stayed in this hotel in January 2011, comfy beds and beautiful, warm bedrooms. The selection for breakfast was brilliant and delicious. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant on one of the nights too. Lovely views. Would recommend a stay here.
This is our 3rd time to stay in Dundalk Crowne Plaza ,it is always a pleasure to return ,lovely rooms(one of the few hotels i have come across to have a separate bath and shower) and the staff pleasant as usual .Obviously a good employer also as a lot of the same staff still there .
Lovely clean hotel with excellent facilities and food. Also very friendly and helpful staff.Very good value. One small niggle, no entertainment in bar in evenings.
Hi gorgeous Hotel. I booked a family room which was great value but restricted to two children so I sent my older two (6&4) to stay with their cousins and I stayed in the hotel with my husband two year old and new baby. my husband went to get the two older children early to bring them over to the hotel to have breakfast with us because I didn't want them under my sister in laws feet for the morning. I couldn't find any reference to breakfast prices in the room. I brought the kids down and the six of us sat a table and my husband went up first and came back to tell me that breakfast was 15 per adult and 10 per child!! needless to say i brought the children out of the restaurant and we had no breakfast. if it had been 5 per child and 10 per adult we might have stayed. it was disappointing but I already was inconvenienced by the fact that I couldn't have the children in the room with me and they are too young to be in a separate room. I have booked family rooms in other hotels and they would have two double and a cot and that is sufficient for me. Anyway, it is a lovely hotel and I would go there again but not with children. Later that day we ate in Darver Castle just a short way from the hotel and the kids got three course meals for 8 per child!
I would rate this hotel excellent. as would the group Ihad booked rooms for. The beds were very large and confortable ,rooms were spotless. I had a lovely breakfast in the morning with plenty of choice. The view from the restuarant was amazing the lounge bar was also spacious and enjoyed drinks later with my group.Would most definitly stay at this hotel again..would have liked to stay longer. lidil breaks are excellent value for money and will most definitly book with Lidil breaks again . I will be telling all my friends to book with Lidil breaks.
Subject Re: Your Reservation Confirmation # 63819789 at Crowne Plaza ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My wife and I spent the last weekend at the dundalk hotel and I was very disappointed with the lack of proper heating during our stay. before we travelled I phoned ahead and asked if the hotel was coping with the cold conditions and if we could access the hotel. I was told that all was well and so we arrived as planned. immediately we arrived it was obvious that the main lobby was not heated and during our visit the receptionist took to wearing an anorak whilst on duty and I dont blame her. our room was cold upon reaching it and we asked the duty manager to fix it. he attended to it and it worked for a time but then failed again and was blowing cold air instead of the warm air expected. we awoke to a very cold room and again asked for help and the other duty manager came and adjusted the room control unit. we left for breakfast and returned to the room and found it still cold afer 1 hour. we were moved to another room but again this was cold and it was reset and we were told within 10 minutes he would call us to see if it was working. he duly called but even after 30 minites it was still blowing cold air. we were moved for the third time and to another cold room but this time the air was blowing warm air. this did have a bad effect on our enjoyment of the stay and we believe many of the fellow guests were experiencing similiar problems. I feel that on my initial enquiry we should have been informed of the heating problem and we would have deferred our visit to a later time when the weather improved. May I say that the staff were helpful and this is in no way a criticism of them.
Like an oasis in the desert, the Crown Plaza Dundalk was such a welcome pleasure after a day shopping and driving. Beds incredibly comfortable and every attention to detail covered in the room. From the fabulous wall art, flat screen interactive TV, raindrop walk in shower and separate bath to the fab views from the 11th floor, I couldn't have asked for more. The ice machine was useful at the end of the corridor and the delicious breakfast from the top floor restaurant was efficiently presented by the staff, with plenty of choice and although busy, felt unhurried. Highly recommended
I was very happy with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk. I booked five rooms for myself and some work colleagues and everything was excellent. We enjoyed the food, the staff were very friendly and there were no problems checking in or out. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the tea-making facilities in the disabled bedroom are not at the correct height for a wheelchair user, and there is difficulty in trying to make tea/coffee, and there were no biscuits which is a nice touch in hotels. Rating I would give it **** Stella O'Brien
I recently visited the crowne plaza for three nights. Upon arrival we were met by a very nice lady( forgot to get her name) and she assisted us with our luggage ( as were both disabled). There was a problem with the booking (could not find the confirmation, which turned out to me my fault) but Amanda assured us it would be sorted. Everything about the hotel was great. Great value for money, and everything was almost accessible. Only complaint I would have would be that the tea-making facilities which are located in a press, were not suitable for someone with a disability. (trying to fill the kettle etc., was a problem). However overall I thought it was a great hotel, and I am returning there shortly with a party of 10. Would give it 5 *
We had a great stay in the Crowne Plaza last weekend. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. We had dinner there which was really lovely. My only gripe would be that we signed up to the loyalty progamme while we were there and there are signs throughout the hotel saying the any new members who sign up for the loyalty card receive a free bottle of wine. We queryed this but we were told that our membership would not be up on the system yet so we couldnt get the bottle of wine. (which is false advertising to me). They said we would get it the next time (thanks a lot). We had breakfast there too which was also lovely. I would recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I would totally recommend this hotel.
Great hotel, food superb - including the breakfast, service brilliant, hotel spotless, atmosphere welcoming, price cheap, could not fault it for a stay for two people. Cannot wait to return. We were there in September and could not use the beer garden, etc because of bad weather but i would say atmosphere even better during summer with that open so we will be staying then as well for sure. Location also perfect - only 8min drive away from numerous shops, easy access. I would defo rate hotel as one for best around for all above reasons. Noel, Dublin.
Excellent and well run hotel. food was top class, service was fantastic - top class hotel, we really enjoyed our stay!
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel to anybody. It was a pleasure from the time we arrived, the room was spotless, comfortable and spacious and most of all the quiet around the room, you'd think you were the only people staying there. The food in the restaurant on the 13th floor was execellent and the views from there spectacular. The staff there couldn't be more helpful, we will definetly booking a stay at this hotel again. we booked our stay through the lidl breaks and we have to say we did get very good value.
my husband and myself stayed at your hotel over the weekend and must say the room and the service received was spot on. we had a lovely relaxing time and the food was good. the price was very reasonable also. the only problem we had was not down to the hotel. our car had problems with the petrol injection system on saterday morning and as a result we could not go touring as my husband had a recent opp and could not walk far. however we stayed at the hotel and spent a peaciful day resting. i hope your hotel continues to do well and maybe we can come back another time when he is feeling better and complete our holiday. regards to all the staff who where very nice to us. sarah tracey.
Lidl breaks is extremely good value for money, we had a lovely stay at this hotel, dinner was really nice, and so was the breakfast, no complaints at all,
Very modern and clean. Great service and systems. Free newspaper of your choice delivered to your room. Restaurant on the 13th floor (spectacular views) can be a little slow, however they will provide a discount if this happens. Recommended. Sean, Offaly.
We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast lovely hotel nice staff really enjoyed it.
room food staff facilities all excellent .will definitely return
Could not fault this hotel in any way had a great stay :)
Had stayed inthe Crowne Plaxa once before so was delighted to find it in the Lidl breaks, itis a lovely hotel with spacious comfortable rooms, unlike some hotels you dont get corridor noise or next room noise, also the bath and shower are separate which i love as i hate climbing into a bath to have a shower, another plus is self service breakfasts
Excellent. The hotel was modern, clean and beautiful. The double room had two really comfy beds. the meal was lovely. very tasty. For fifty euros per person. it is an unbelievable deal. the breakfast had everything from crepes to omelettes. really great. I shall definitely do it again. Way above my expectations.Thank you
lovely hotel, the service provided from all the staff was excelent. the food was very good i think the dinner & b &b is good value ,its a pity the hotel isnt a little closer to the shops .i will definately book with lidl breaks again
If you want to be looked after by very friendly and efficient staff, who clearly enjoy giving customers excellent service then this is the hotel to visit. From the time we arrived to departed the welcome we received both at reception and dining area was outstanding. In addition to this outstanding service, the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the rooms and the ambience of the hotel was also excellent. Superb value for money which is nice to report nowadays, highly recommended.
Exellent value Staff very nice Food exellent Could do with some entertainment Will go back again dublin couple ANN& PATRICK.
Just back from a recent stay in the hotel. It was absolutely lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and food was delicious. Definitely would recommend it to others and go back again some time.
Excellent valu for money. Friends stayed as well but did not get same deal. Hotel lovely, clean and food gorgeous
Stayed recently for 1 night break in Dundalk Crowne Plaza hotel, on the Lidl break offer. I recommend the whole experience. The food in the roof top restaurant was excellent, and the service was friendly and efficient. It represented very good value for money and I would be happy to go there again or recommend it to my friends. Sue, Dublin
